So I kept on abusing it after this, I mean I tired, but it didn’t work. I said no 6 months ago, and I’ve done a bump a few times, but all in all, I’ve told it to fuck off, we really are all at sea aren’t we x
To anyone who would like to know my interpretation.... this song was written about standing on your own feet. Fleeing the nest. Living free and independently, albeit if that means things are bad. Doing one's best to strip parents of responsibility, growing, developing, self-actualizing, dancing, drinking, singing, living. Living free. All at sea. Don't worry dad, I've got it.
if anyone's interested: "I know I don't know you Don't think I don't know you I saw you going under Ah save you one for me 'Cause I'm all at sea lad And I don't know if you're coming or going But there's no thorn or stalk Or poison talk that belongs to me Now I only wanna... Now I only wanna... I don't want anything It means the world to me But I'm all at sea dad And I don't know if I'm coming or going Still no hope, no fear No rent arrears, leave it all to me And if you take it all away You'll have a pile of everything That you never wanted Oh it's just too bad Never wanted, so bad Where can I go Just to hear the songs I need I used to go to your room"
Love this song. This and Seven Deadly Sins are probably my favourite of the lesser known Libs songs. And for those who want to know where to find this stuff, they WERE all on a fansite called Albion Arks along with loads of mp3s of demos from their many sessions, but that site appears to have run out of funding or something :/ Shame.
i'm not 100% but i think peter and carl's fantasy acardia is a name for the place they went when they took drugs and was a way of romantacising it and making it a poetic and relevant place for them, then again i might be completely wrong, just from the many interviews, books and songs i've read and heard it seems thats what it is
No Phone no Stork.................open your fuckin mind troops......met Gary in Edinburgh,gr8 chilled out fella,Carl played France briefly in the background.....IMMENSE
i hold my hands up that looking back i did get it wrong but peter did say that experimenting with drugs was part of the albion experience or something like that, dont really want it to come across how it has cause im a fucking huge fan of his and all the work that he's done and in no way mean to diminish any of his work!
Albion is oldest known name for Britain but i believe it is Greek not Old English and Arcadia is region of Greece that is an isolated, rustic and tranquillity.
@shareschannel i dont know, i remember personally getting it on a cd for a magazine/newspaper years ago, I presume the uploader got it from the same place, *shrug*.
I know I don't know you But don't think I don't know you I saw you going under I saved one for me Cause I'm all at sea lad Don't know if I'm coming or going There's no thorn, North Star, can't not poison talk It belongs to me I only wanna Oh I just wanna Oh I don't want anything, means to the world to me Well I'm all at sea dad I don't know if I'm coming or going There's no hope, no fear, there's no rent arrears Leave it all to me If you take it all away Pile up everything you never wanted Ain't it just too bad Never wanted it so bad Now where can I go? To hear the songs I need I used to go to your room And open up a move making me Ah tell me where can I go? To hear the songs I need Oh you find me in your room Listen to open up Now where can I go? Just to hear the songs I need You find me in your room Open up for me
fuckin yes mate!!!! and it aint for sale....cherished goods amigo.....play it on acoustic regularly.......great early :ibs track.....meeting Carl in Glasgow 2mrw for his H+M set
Daniel Fitzgerald Road to Ruin is brilliant IMO. Would have taken out Don’t Be Shy and Arbeit Macht Frei. Both would be decent B-Sides but not album material.
@@tinsoldier1983 I love road to ruin also. Love the chaos of it. I would have took off narcissist for this. Although we don't have to now as this is on the puta madres album.
Currently stopping cocaine after a good few years abuse and this is one the the things keeping me going, we’re all at sea x

Thank you so much. I am not English-native but Libertines's songs lyrics are just too good to miss.
thanks
Pete’s brought this out on his album with him and the Puta Madres
Love Puta Madres! - I found out about the early track here: www.nme.com/blogs/nme-blogs/best-libertines-songs-every-song-ranked-2531296
this song was originally slated to be on the libs second album... it was replaced with road to ruin.
it's so album worthy

love this song, it's very sad.
11 YEARS AGO!!! Am I that old???
First time listened to this 8 years ago. Seems like yesterday.
It will live on forever.

TobyEllisSongwriter the times. It was a black cd with a picture of them on it. Promoting their second album. Loved this song so much
Why isn't this on Spotify?
I know I don't know you
But don't think I don't know you
I saw you going under
I saved one for me
Cause I'm all at sea lad
Don't know if I'm coming or going
There's no thorn, North Star, can't not poison talk
It belongs to me
I only wanna
Oh I just wanna
Oh I don't want anything, means to the world to me
Well I'm all at sea dad
I don't know if I'm coming or going
There's no hope, no fear, there's no rent arrears
Leave it all to me
If you take it all away
Pile up everything you never wanted
Ain't it just too bad
Never wanted it so bad
Now where can I go?
To hear the songs I need
I used to go to your room
And open up a move making me
Ah tell me where can I go?
To hear the songs I need
Oh you find me in your room
Listen to open up
Now where can I go?
Just to hear the songs I need
You find me in your room
Open up for me
this is not famous...but i like the melody :) Pete Doherty is the greatest!

@Alllbion yeah id say your right but i dont think carl was into the crack or the gear like pete was he...
David Moore he was he just did it recreationally
Now I can die :3
This and Hooligans on E should have replaced Tomblands and Road to ruin. Just my opinion. They were the two weakest songs on that record.
Bang on mate.
