  • What are the Igorot dance?
As with many non-literate societies, the Igorots dance to heal, worship ancestors and gods, and insure positive outcomes during war, harvests, and weather. They dance to ward off misfortune, to congregate and socialize, to mark milestones in the life, and to express repressed feelings.
Is Igorot dance one of the Philippine folk dance?
Since Francisca Reyes-Aquino codified dances from the mountain provinces in 1935, and before Agnes Locsin created her Igorot, there has been a wealth of choreographed Igorot “dances” in the repertoires of Philippine folk dance troupes performing in and outside the country.
