  • Finally its here, so lets dive into the new PAP M90PS rifle. Manufactured as a sporting rifle by Zastava Arms in Kragujevac, Serbia; the M90 is imported into the US and made full-featured here by Zastava-USA. It is an updated/modernized variant of the classic M70 AK47, firing the standard 5.56x45 NATO (.223 Remington) round out of an 18.2" CHF+CL barrel.
    In this video we look at what comes in the box with the rifle, explore its features, and take it to the range to run a few hundred rounds through it. Also, we try out a few different types/brands of .223 AK magazine on the market to see which ones work best.

    Just picked one up last weekend as my engagement present to myself. my girl got her ring and I got my 5.56 AK. I Love it. The recoil impulse feels like 22LR when you are used to the traditional 7.62x39 that my other AK’s are chambered in. Can’t recommend this rifle enough definitely a must buy in this current environment.

    Ordered mine last week with K-var, better price than AF originally and I didn't want to worry about spamming F5. I am excited about the slightly longer barrel and the twist rate as well. Wish there were accessory lugs. Also have original furniture for it, except for a triangle folder I ordered. Seems I'll finally have a gun on which I can use my E-german sling. I have a couple extra Zrak scopes for M76 and I'll see if I can at least use the Zrak base/platform and sort something with the scope rings and a lpvo scope for accuracy testing. I've been able to adjust an SVD clamp to fit with a M76 rail, so I might be able to do this on the M90 as well, in which case, more fun with east block optics! Been wanting one for a while and I'm excited to try an AK in 5.56 to compliment my 5.45 guns.

    It looks nice but I'm still holding out for a semi-auto M21 variant. Besides the 1.5mm receiver the M90 has very little parts commonality with the M21. The M21 front sight/gas block is completely different from the M90, M92/M85 or M70 style. The M21 also has a different gas tube, handguard retainer, rear sight block with a hinged top cover, and a Galil style thumb safety lever. The M90 just doesn't scratch the military pattern collector itch that a M21 would in my opinion. I really wish Zastava would just bring in the M21 submachine gun version as a pistol. I don't understand why companies importing their firearms feel the need to make so many changes to the firearms for the US market. Just give us a semi auto version of the military pattern gun. Why is that so hard?

    • @Bubnazty
      @Bubnazty 3 роки тому +2

      @Brian Hess Yeah but look at the price though. One kit is $1895 and the other $3850 and you still need to get the barrel and or receiver and build it etc. The M21 is cool and I would pay $1200 up to maybe $2000 for a complete one but it's not cool enough to merit a $2000+ price tag for me personally.

    OK! You have just changed my mind!!! Questions; Is the bolt/bolt carrier chrome or bare metal? Any deforming at the tail of the carrier? What setting was the gas regulator on when on the range? Any changes needed when switching brands or from commercial to military, to the regulator? Between the bird cage and surger scoop muzzle brakes which performed better? Yes, I want one! I look forward to seeing more info on this rifle as the test progresses. Thank You, again!

    "Read Manual Before Use" really doesn't need to be on etched on the side of the receiver. Zastava's new stuff seems great, but a legal warning etched into the receiver in 14pt font is disgusting. I really hope they stop doing this in the future, cause they look gorgeous otherwise. I want one real bad but I can't abide the legal billboard.

I wouldn't call either one of them great for hard use due to the gas system however. I'm glad I own one, especially since the NP varient had gone up in value so much. @@BNatoAk I don't like the way that the adjustable gas block was designed. You have to disassemble the rifle to adjust it, and it's just a small piece of stamped metal holding the notch. If that breaks, which I've heard a few instances of that happening, the rifle could turn into a single shot if that dial starts to rotate. I think they could have at least made the stamped metal piece sit flush with the rest of the gas tube to protect it a little bit. For me and a rifle that may be used for more than just shooting at the range, I would want that made better.
