Just found your channel, thank goodness! All the recipes I’ve been looking for and then some, thank you good sir.
I am glad you found me. Thank you. Best, Rik
You're doing a great job, Sir 👏. Thank you. I just tried your Scottish shortbread recipe and got an amazing result 👌. Though it looks like the video won't even get up to a hundred view, but am glad and thought to say thanks after watching this 😊
It's Rik I will never be a sir. At this channel, our focus is on sharing recipes that work reliably, not chasing views. I have meticulously tested my recipes over the years to ensure anyone can make them successfully. While high view counts are nice, our priority is empowering viewers with dishes they can actually make. You won't find misleading shortcuts or outlandish claims here. We leave gimmicky ingredients and unrealistic timeframes to other channels. Our recipes don't rely on tricks - just honest, straightforward ingredients and instructions. The presentation isn't always perfect, but the food comes out right every time. We'd rather help you cook a meal than entertain you with smoke and mirrors. In time, those who value practicality over flash will become regulars. We strive to earn loyal fans through reliability, not empty spectacle. In cooking, as in life, substance triumphs over style. We'll stick to our principles, and trust the rest will follow. thank you for trying the shortbread. Best, Rik
👆Deer friend,
Your cooking very nice
❤️❤️👇
Thats really interesting thanks. I will be using this recipe.
I'm off for a shop up at Makro on Tuesday.
Easy recipe, Roger. I will finish the Christmas cake and ice it up in a few days. Best, Rik
A pinch 😅 love it. How would i make this coloured? Just add food dye to the water before mixing? 😊
That would do it. Thank you. Best, Rik
I must show this video to my wife, we love Mazipan.
Thanks Micky, easy to make. Best, Rik
Hey Rik ..very simple and easy recipe..,but dosent the egg white need to be cooked
No, egg whites do not have to be cooked in marzipan. Traditional marzipan is made by combining finely ground almonds, sugar, and raw egg whites to bind the ingredients together. The egg white helps to create a smooth and pliable texture. Because of the sugar's preservative qualities, the risk of bacterial growth is minimized, making the use of raw egg whites generally safe in marzipan.
However, suppose you have concerns about using raw egg whites due to potential health risks. In that case, you can use pasteurized egg whites or substitute with other ingredients such as corn syrup, glucose syrup, or water to achieve a similar consistency and binding effect without cooking. Thank you. Best, Rik
Thank you Rik...will surely try this recipe
Is this anything like the Odense marzipan? The dough is hard to come by where I live so if I can make it that would be preferred.
This marzipan is soft as you can see by the Christmas cake vid - delicious! Best, Rik
Thanks Rik, will you or have you done an icing video?
That is coming up - I will ice the cake I made. Best, Rik
@@BackyardChef thank you 👍
Great and a first for me. Can I use Almond powder rather than flour. Think if I grind the Almond Powder that is Almond flour, am I correct? Thanks
I've changed the wording to Ground Almond - its basically ground almonds. Sorry for the confusion. Best, Rik
@@BackyardChef Great have the Ground Almond Powder so the better-alf loves marzipan so I can make this and place on the Irish Whisky Cake I've made. Thanks Rik. 🙂
Sounds amazing, mate. Best, Rik
@@whitebeardskitchen6473May I have a piece, please? 🤤
@@mirandamom1346 you can certainly have some of mine mirandamom 🙂
I've never seen that type of plastic wrap dispenser. After cutting does the remaining plastic ever fall back inside and stick to the roll? Thanks for showing me how simple Marzipan is
Hi there, no it just stays on the top. ready to pull again. Thank you. Best, Rik
The hard part is finding almond flour and the concentrate. I travelled to Robinsons (Tops) to buy some lemons. I found grated almonds but no flour or concentrate. This was in Lopburi.

What are the quantities and proportions in ouncrs ?
No idea - google could have though
@BackyardChef
What quantities and proportions did you use ? You can calculate from the size of bowl you used and the spoons. Google will not have the same recipe as you.
There is a full ingredient list in the description.@@Aliya-gh2ec
Thank you, great 😊
Ummmmm - no what is denaturing the egg whites? That sounds like salmonella waiting to happen.
Ha ha ha
