I have been there done that except, I took me till the age of 50 to figure that it out and then, to the age of 59 to finally leave. It was a very traumatic awakening to realize that whole world view was based on a 19th century lie.

That's AMAZING (though simultaneously frustrating as hell) that you were able to finally see Mormonism for what it actually is - but I get it (except for your age bracket, since I'm in my early 40's) - that's a LONG ASS wait to finally (and traumatically), wake up to reality.
Well Done! CHEERS to leaving the BS 19th century cash grab behind! 😀

Currently deconstructing. Very difficult to reinvent yourself.
    You are very correct.
Nothingness was left is absolutely correct!
Congratulations on all your hard work to deconstruct

      Thanks!
I wish you nothing but the best as you deconstruct, reinvent, and heal! 🙂

This took a lot of courage. While I don't have a Mormon background, I have had the foundations of myself rocked. Here is some advice for you, in the best of spirit. You are who you are at your core, so the first thing I did was decide a moral code for myself. It's more important than it sounds. Write this down. Then ask yourself some basic questions. What's my favorite color, food, movie, ice cream flavor..then dig deeper. If my friends go to a strip club, do I go, if not why. Things like that. Ask yourself questions like you are an interviewer. This is not the end all of your journey, but a foundation based on what you think and feel. We are all works in progress...

Just to clear any confusion, I do not believe God does bad things to us. I do not believe He lets bad things happen. I believe that we are on this Earth to give up to Satan, or better ourselves by deciding to have God in our lives. God and religion are not the same...He's better than that.

I personally don't have a belief in any particular God any longer. Still, I agree with you completely that God (and/or spiritual belief) and religion are not the same thing. The idea of spirituality and religion as separate entities was completely foreign to me growing up Mormon. Mormonism claims ownership over a member's spiritual life alongside many other manipulative and controlling religions.

@@NickRomriellI went the agnostic route. I don’t believe in holy men or holy books or magical messiahs. There may be something beyond this life but, I don’t believe it has anything to do with a dogma or organized religion or any mythology.

I highly recommend listening to some podcasts to help you deconstruct along the way. It definitely makes you feel not so alone. One of my favorites is Faith, unraveled and Mormon stories podcast.

I appreciate your comment and suggestions 🙂 I used to listen to Mormon Stories A LOT as I was transitioning out of Mormonism.
Right now I'm finding mindfulness and an á la carte philisophical approach to be extremely helpful as I continue healing and finding myself. There's such a flood of insightful content available now, which is AMAZING, on the one hand, but can, of course, become overwhelming, on the other 😬 Cheers!

I agree! It’s kind of like trying to hike Mount Everest all at once. For now,
Thank you for your honesty and bravery putting this out there on UA-cam! Your bravery is commendable and I see you friend ❤
