@@AeschylusShepherd Ordinarily yes. But it’s when the transcription model (Whisper) misheard you or hallucinated a transcript of something you never said. If you had to wait through a 6 paragraph reply to that, you’d wish you could just say “oh hang on I actually said this”
It just reinforces a lack of manners and a complicit superiority complex to machines. Typical humans.

It can HEAR your voice. Interruption existed before it can be programmed, it existed in other AI chatbots such as Call Annie. But they weren't multimodal

If every person had access to artificial intelligence 24 hours a day as a personal tutor to learn languages, programming, or any skill that can be learned in the educational system, it would take education to a different level.
Or we could create a race of AI then we wouldn't need people
I've been using chatgpt to learn english and it's really helping me
It's been a few months since I started and I think it's been working
I used it to learn how to code over the last two years. Being paid full-time now and learned everything 100% from UA-cam and ChatGPT. I also have used it now and again to practice my portuguese. I am fluent but still make errors. It can't pick up on pronunciation errors but is good at picking out grammar errors. So I can talk with it for like 15 minutes then ask it to review the whole conversation and tell me about any errors I made.

@@PazLeBon yes. Bring in UBI and those grumpy people will be happy at home making art or whatever. Whatever jobs AI replaced, can be put into the UBI sum and maybe people directly replaced will get 2-5x UBI of other people which negates the impact.
@@SahilP2648 i dont think ai will have a personal relationship with animals, the animals will ignore them so these jobs are safe haha unless killing them i suppose. thats maybe how ai will view people in a 100 years when it might be able to think

It started as ARPANET in the '60s, just connecting a few computers, and now it's this massive global network that connects billions. From early experiments to the web we use every day-it's crazy how much it changed the world!
Didn't it influence your life? I'm nostalgic about pre-internet times but I'm glad I get to chat with my family all over the world.
Probably of how slowly it got integrated in our life, it didn't feel special at times and sometimes people were on the slow end or had no access at all. With AI everything is going crazy fast

One of the advantages of the new voice mode is that you can interrupt it. Seems like a small feature but very useful

2. The Australian accent was terrible. That’s how someone might sound if they were making fun of the Australian accent. I can guarantee 99% of aussies don’t speak like that! 😂

Think of it as an American doing an Australian accent.
I mean, the voice model is of an American, so it's more "an attempt at an Aussie accent using mostly training on an American accent".

This reminds me of the AI in the 80's TV series Knight Rider. It seemed too far-fetched back then, but it's really here now. Amazing.
There is one draw back to the advanced voice mode. It cant access the internet like the normal mode which means if it doesnt know something, you will have to explain everything to it. The normal mode can access the internet and learn about something it doesn't know and give you up to date information.

i’m absolutely flabbergasted that no one is mentioning this, I just commented on this myself, you can’t even ask it a simple question like “what is the weather today?“
@@pmarreck You have a choice now though: a friend who has just woken up from a 3 year coma. Or a friend who is a bit slow of thinking. (Actually, I don't have a choice as I don't have the advanced mode yet for some reason).
AV has no multi-modal capabilities. So no video or image uploads. No document uploads. etc. OpenAI have lobotomised this version. From what I can see in other videos, even the voice capabilities have been greatly reduced and it refuses quite a lot of the time, even when you know it can do something. Unfortunately as I'm in the UKI I have no access to it, but it is fun seeing the latest crop of videos about it. I am glad that it can now do accents - the original version of AV could not (despite what people wanted to believe).

Curious how it doesn't do the same for the human. I theoretically should be able to respond with that kind of visual that fast -- they do at raves, etc. lol
I'm loving the new voice feature in GPT! It's incredibly useful for coaching applications, especially when it comes to step-by-step instructions on project or recipe walk-throughs. Having the ability to hear the guidance, ask questions, and interact. Can't wait to use this feature more!
My first conversation with it was educational. It explained to me about audio tokenization a little bit. I agree that the educational & instructional opportunities are pretty big.
You should try role-playing games. Imagine you're a cunning and dangerous dragon, and I'm a knight standing before you, trying to figure out how to negotiate my way out without disintegrating. It's quite an entertaining scenario. You could request an elaborate, insanely exaggerated, and funny story with a twist of events in the most unexpected way, while simultaneously adjusting the mood of the narrative to match the changes.
I’ve tried it before but it always let me succeed as a player. But something I’ve been wanting to try would be to have it let me roll for certain actions and then let it know if it succeeded or not.
I spent a couple weeks attempting this. I managed to get about two hours of gameplay before the memory collapses. It like a paper bag with a wet bottom - currently. No doubt it will improve.

@@PazLeBon You can get a few miles out of it by first creating a game state manager that uses some type of shorthand to make a log which carries forward through the scenes. That log eventually degrades too and then the entire thing implodes. I made my own curse of strahd campaign which held logic til lvl 4 , met the were wolves and had four companions. For those that know dnd. Interestingly - such massive context and backstory allowed me to bypass the explicit content restrictions is all i'll say (research purposes). THe entire thing was easy to manipulate event though iw rote massive isntructions asking it to not allow exploits. I'm sure it will improve rapidly no doubt.

I just closed the app and relaunched it. Hearing the AI tell a horror story in a thick Malaysian English (manglish) accent is EVERYTHING!

For me (in Canada), simply signing out and signing in again did the work.
The ability to interrupt is the best thing about this! I’m now going to use it to be an interpreter for languages. I wanted to do that before but had to wait a lot for the translation, but now it’s a game changer for that use case!

Really cool , i think the best part with this new voice is its more fluid natural conversation since you can interrupt it and it showing emotion makes it feel more natural.
The interruption feature is a huge improvement.

I will use this for my English speaking training and virtual interviews.
Fun Things to try: 1. Tell me an onomatopoeia story where you make the sounds as best you can instead of saying the words ( I recommend zombie story). 2. Can you tell me a story, and after each sentence, change to a different accent, randomly. 3. Give me a really angry instruction guide to making a (insert interest here)... I did peanut butter sandwich) Have fun!
I want this so bad. Paid pro for 10 months in United States. Uninstalled and reinstalled and it didn’t work. 😢. I’ll try again tomorrow.
Please tell me how you managed to record the audio of the conversation on ChatGPT with this quality. I tried using the iPhone voice recorder, but it didn't work.

I'm from Canada and I have the new advance voice mode, I asked it to speak with a french accent and it started to speak in french perfectly well, not what i asked but quite impressive.

I use this feature to help me learn a new language, and it’s incredibly helpful. I can ask as many questions as I need without worrying that it will get tired of me. Unlike a human teacher who might lose patience, this thing never does. I also feel safer using it because it leaves no room for judgment, unlike when speaking with another person.
I had it in the early test. I really like it.
i know it's just an added voice, but with that and the upgraded chain of reasoning, feels like we're getting closer to a real Jarvis

It's really fun to play with the dialects and emotions. I can't, however, upload a PDF or file yet with the new voice model. As soon as you upload a file, it defaults the rest of the session to the older model. One use case, would be to upload a script, and have it read the script back creating unique personalities and dialects for each character. That would be fun and potentially constructive. I assume that's coming.
Actors practicing with chatGPT sound like a brilliant idea. It would be the perfect role playing model.
I checked for updates this morning on my two phones and no update on either yet. So, I deleted the the app from both and re-installed. Boom! It worked! I have the advanced voice on both. Great video as always. Matt. Thanks. 👍🏽

gemini advance mode is literally only adding the interruptions I don't think there is any difference besides that at all

How did you record the voice? It sounds like you screen recorded but it won’t let me. 😅
The reasons why delete/download does not work right away in many places, is just that we do not download app from a single server. It takes a company and the system behind it some time for releases to propagate. Also they most likely slow down the pushing of new apps to ensure the system does not get overwhelmed.
I am curious if we can record the voice of ChatGPT and use it in a commercial video like UA-cam. This is rather than using ElevenLabs for AI generated UA-cam context.
I'll have to read the licensing stuff because I would assume yes since it's being used in this video right now but maybe they require something to be adding to it idk

Woke up this morning and got advanced voice mode after reinstalling the app! Thanks for this tip! Located in Japan, and conversation in Japanese also works great.
I was able to get access a few weeks ago but I haven't been able to get the different voices yet. I just wish the random hangups in the stream and "I can't do that because it violates Guidelines" there are too many guideline errors.
No singing either. How is that bad ?
At 1:00 and THANK GOD audio recordings are saved and deleting them is optional. Someone is caring about data saving than just unreasonable "privacy" bs.

I'm in Australia and have had the paid version of the account for a year or so. Woke up this morn with an update notification on my phone. Did the update just now. 'Welcome to advanced voice mode'. So there you go. Even here in the land of Drob Bears and Kangawallafoxes the intelligence has arrived.
As an Australian, that's a terrible Aussie accent, ha, but it's close enough.

@@citizen3000 I can't tell. I have never been American. All I know is that as an Australian the accent sounds like a mix of Aussie and New Zealand (which is very common when an American tries an Aussie accent) so my guess is that it would sound Australian enough to be understood as an attempt at Australian. I imagine its Irish accent sounds wrong to the Irish and the same with Scottish and Mexican etcetera. It is still pretty amazing technology though. I've had a play and I'm impressed.

@@interestedinstuff It’s down to the way the technology works. There’s absolutely no doubt that eventually they’ll add a much wider choice of voices that will include native Australian voices made from recordings of a native Australian speaking with their natural accent.
Awesome new feature, I told it to "talk in a doggy voice and tell Henry (our Dog) what a good boy he had been", the look on his face was priceless haha, it really got the baby talk voice perfect. Will be having lots of fun seeing how far I can push the AI in terms of voice personality, it says it can't imitate a certain persons voice (probably the Scarlet Johansen issues) but with creative phrases will be interesting to see how close it can get (think Apu)

I'm in the same boat, been a paying member for probably like 10 months, and haven't had it in either roll out yet 🙃 Don't understand why they can't just roll it all out at once now like every other major app on the planet does...

When you’re scaling a service this demanding at this huge size, come back and share your insights with us. Until then, just use some common sense to understand that it is being rolled out gradually for a reason.
Just got it... didn't have to re-install, re-login, or do anything. It was just there :) Also available on my iPad, but not the macOS app.
@@citizen3000 I get it, but when you pay for chat GPT Plus, It's specifically says that you get to test new features as one of the perks, to keep half of your paying subscribers waiting for well over a month past the release of a new feature is disingenuous. Also, clearly they have no shortage of money if the CEO has become a multi-billionaire over the past few months. They have had this feature for months as shown by their demo, we will likely wait six more months for the video feature already demoed several months ago. Clearly they are holding back for some reason, and as a paying user for almost a year, I expected to be early on that list of rollout. Just an opinion out of frustration, no need to take it seriously. It just appeared on my account at the end of the day 👍

they had a full project cloning voices and it's literally perfect it's better than what they use for this but they basically scrapped it and said it was to dangerous right now

It’s really really cool. I was using the simple voice mode all the time, so looking forward to the advanced one.
You know there is going to be like at least 5 dudes the first year who fall in love with that voice and if they give it real persona even worse.
My biggest issue with chatgpt is it interrupting me when I'm not finished speaking. I hope they fixed this. But wow she sounds 90% real. Thanks Matt!
Ya I was wondering if they fixed this yet. You can't really take pauses in what you say. I think they'll have to implement contextual waiting, so that it knows based on what you're saying if a person wants to pause but keep going.
When you are speaking just press to screen and hold it. It won't interrupt you anymore

The ability to translate to or from practically every language to another is inpressive . speak in one language and it can either repeat that as a translation or answrr back in another language . Pretty cool
Advanced voice still aint showing up after reinstall but the rollout usually just takes a week so no sweat

It's so cool, in future when they release multiple voices in one chat then it will be awesome. Asking it to tell you a story and act as all characters with different voices , and relative story emotive tones or run a and campaign where it plays as one or toe of your party members
Holy crap brother. It's real, it's finally there. I'm from Germany using VPN and even on the website the existing voices got updated and have now a way better quality plus all new ones are there too. It was so worth the wait. i'm in love with this. damn

Hey, my name is Clyde. Just wanted to let you know that I was able to access the new advanced voice mode by just going into Google play and getting an update. And after I rebooted the phone, the advanced voice mode was simply there. ‘Played with a little bit, and it’s fun so far. 😊
After you update/reinstall, log out then back in again. That’s the trick 😊

The new voice mode's Tamil accent is almost perfect. A lot better than before. Before this release, the AI sounded like an American trying to speak Tamil with a thick American accent. It's now almost perfect!

I really liked Pi. I could chat with it conversationally for free over the past year. I don't know if the company dissolved or what, but the leaders moved on.
The company still exists. Pi still exists. All it needs is the interruption capability and it would be excellent. Unfortunately they are planning to charge for using it soon.
I just go it too... and it's really restricted.. can't meow like a cat, no sound effects, refuses to make long laughs and blow kisses.. it's garbage. I WAS excited for this, but this isn't what the demo's showed.
