- This was at Daytona on the road coarse on 12.11.21 with Goodyear 3R tires (100 Treadwear). My best lap for the day was a 1:58, but did not capture as I had issues with the Catalyst. See updated video of a 2:00:27 on Nanhang CR-S (200 Treadwear) tires 10/29/2023. • Shelby GT500 - Daytona...
As a ZL11LE owner and seasoned driver I have to say, GAWD DAHHHMN !!!! 😮 That thing is a beast. You were monstering the other cars. Great driving and insane car.
Thanks! It is crazy fast but the torque can be a bit too much...particularly in a road race track. I was smiling and laughing a bit as I have a GT350 (526HP)and the GT500 (760HP)....the ZL11LE is about perfect as it tis right in the middle with (650HP) and better track set up from the factory. I really considered buying one prior to getting the GT350....all of them are great cars :)

Awesome....glad you enjoyed the video...so a big fan odf the first Shelbys as well....my favorite has alway been the AC Cobras, but this is car is a lot of fun! Regardless, great to hear from someone from across the pond :)

crazy....amazing how fast I was able to pull up to a ZL1 Camaro.....really get to see it flex out on a big track like Daytona
I timed your 2:01.54 lap. It was more like 2:05, much like the rest of your laps. I dont know what happened with your track software, but it is hard to run 2:01's. Go ahead, time it.
Tom, great catch....so this was the first time I had ever used the Garmin Catalyst for UA-cam videos (previously Go Pros) and had several issues saving the data (lost my best times with fresh tires), as well as the GPS keeping up with the speed of the car. So I went to my other video with the GT350 where I was doing 2:04 laps and I just confirmed them with the stop watch as correct. So I went back to this video suspecting another GT500 specific issue.......as it turns out, watch the lap timer on the lower left as I pass the start finish line....it is delayed before it starts and there is your 4 second difference! Appreciate you sending the note, otherwise I would never have known about the first lap delay on the device!

I have added several websites that you can take a look at. Hooked On Driving has a national program and provides access to tracks across the US. I am heading to the Audi Club event at Daytona in a few weeks and is 3 continous days.....I go to that one every year. @thyslop1737 I hit 180MPH after passing the star finish line. It is governed at 180 but it can't do much more at Daytona. The nose is so large, there is so much resistance......but 180 is not slow 😀
