+Iron Squid Yeah It Looks To Advanced, And They Put More Shows From Other Stuff To There. It's Not Related To Weather. Like Back In 2007-2009 Storm Riders Was The BEST
Emerald Yesss! I was a weather nerd as a kid and I loved those shows! I have such nostalgia from this stage of the weather channel, plus I like the format better.
I just love the music for the local on the 8s. I’m a little bit of a weather geek myself, since I like to know what the weather is gonna be all the time. I used to be a meteorologist to my classmates back in my special class in high school; I’d tell them what the weather was going to be like for the day. My teacher liked it when I got to do that. I’m also obsessed with studying/learning about severe weather. It’s mostly tornadoes I like to learn about, but I also like to learn about other kinds of severe storms, like hurricanes and so on. I have a weather radio at home that I just got for my birthday, so now I’m prepared.
I live in rural NC and I used to live on a forest golf course that was very well maintained and very nice. It was so pretty in the morning when it would fog and rain. I lived in a nice big house with high ceilings and a sunroom and you could see right onto the tee box and the big trees from the massive windows in the sunroom and in the morning when I would get up for school this would always be on and it’s just so soothing and comforting to me.
That beep sound thing used to scare the crap out of me back then. The new one is just annoying it goes like BOoP **message** and interrupts the forecast OOF
Interesting how it was Tornado Watch #269 and most of SW lower Michigan's area code is (269). Ahhh the little things in life. I remember that night very well. I was with my girlfriend, windows open, rain lightly coming down. It was VERY nice. There was no lightning, no thunder. 10 minutes later, there was a very random and close strike of lightning, then nothing again for 5 minutes. BANG, there was another VERY close strike, and simultaneously my weather radio went off for this tornado warning
I was peering outside in the wake of no internet, (It was storming) when suddenly lightning struck VERY CLOSE to me. It knocked me right out of my socks, just when I forgot that we live directly behind a metal telephone pole support.
Oh I remember this night so well. The spring/summer if 2010 was a busy one for tornado weather in Michigan. I'm from Detroit, but was living in Ann Arbor at the time. I was living in a transitional housing situation as rehab(I'm a recovering heroin addict). I had worked an 11 hour day(housing residents are supposed to work) and just wanted to go to bed. I had no idea about the weather heading our way. I cracked the window in my bedroom because it was raining so peacefully and put the radio on so I could listen to NPR and catch the news(it was about 11 PM). WDET, the local affiliate, broke in saying we had a tornado warning for Washtenaw Co. I thought that was impossible because it was only gently raining here. There wasn't even any lightning or wind. I threw my clothes and shoes on as fast as I could and woke everyone else up so we could get to the basement. We all went back to bed shortly afterwards. I was laying facing my window, when all of a sudden there was these two odd, bright white flashes of lightning. Right afterwards, at the same time the Ann Arbor sirens and my radio, again, went off with a tornado warning. We had to take cover a total of 3 times that night. The final storm was the most dangerous. As soon as it moved just a few miles southeast of Ann Arbor, it dropped a tornado that chewed up the city of Dundee(Monroe Co., MI). Fortunately, no one died. Thank goodness we never lost power either. There were tree branches down all over the neighborhood and the University of Michigan campus being cleared up the next morning.
lol, this was a neat event. The EAS, though, automatically appears for every tornado warning here if it is in any portion of any of the three counties this headend covers.
It was BAD in Monroe County about 2:30 AM, with winds past 60 mph where I was at, and an EF2 tornado in Dundee, MI. The tornado was headed directly toward me, didn't touch the ground in Monroe, but still, it was the worst storm I have ever seen.
Nothing beats the nostalgia of the warning signal being blasted every 2 minutes while my dad turned off all the lights in the house with the backdoor wide open watching the lightning and wind roll in.
It has something to do with how the signal goes through the cable boxes. I've never completely understood it myself. Comcast forced us to have them to see (or in my case record) the signal in December 2009.
I had a Tornado Watch the next day. I was even under a moderate risk for severe weather, but I didn’t really get anything other than a few light showers and some gusty winds 30-35 mph.
the beep beep beep beep thing is a little annoying but at least it doesnt go BEEP BEEP BEEP ERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR crap that one scares me my friends hate it too!!!
Got hit hard here in Ypsilanti. 2 tornado warnings, flooded basement, Huron River almost hit flood stage, lost power (still gone). Messy, kept me up till 2am
I had a Tornado Watch the next day and a moderate risk of severe weather. The storms didn’t materialize in my area however. All I got was some 30-35 mph wind gusts and some light showers.
I can't believe what a night that was. It barely made 70 here that day, with absolutely no sunshine, except for a few rays close to sunrise. If it wasn't for strong wind sheer, we would of just got a boring soaker...
The next day, it hit 90 degrees for me, had a moderate risk of severe weather and a Tornado Watch, but I only got some light showers and 35 mph wind gusts.
2:53 good old days when the weather channel used the emergency alert system to warn the public in stead of relying on people to read the small message in the bottom of their screen

Bruh I loved the old LOT8's, much nostalgia from this
The Pink Floyd music is amazing I love it why can’t TWC use real music anymore?
That alarm sound is really nostalgic back in 2005 and the storm clouds that look like sleeping caps.

2:51 The timing was perfect
But first we wanted to share with you the Emergency Alert System 2:50
This probably might be the earliest recording of the Digital Alert Systems EAS screen which a lot of TV Providers commonly use as of today.
Dude I used to watch this all the time in 2014 and also I love Pink Floyd

Harry Perry I had totally forgotten about that! I'm quite up on area codes, and I didn't even think of that.
I was peering outside in the wake of no internet, (It was storming) when suddenly lightning struck VERY CLOSE to me. It knocked me right out of my socks, just when I forgot that we live directly behind a metal telephone pole support.
I use a TV tuner, which hooks directly into the cable feed and records it onto my computer(s).
Great vid!
honestly in a way that radio tornado emergency warning is more freaky than the actual tornado haha
Not often the Weather Channel gets interrupted by the Emergency Alert System, especially when they're both issuing the same thing.
“A tornado warning has been issued for your area” ((me and the homies jamming to Pink Floyd on the weather channel))
This was a big part of my life. Love this weather channel... Man I missed these days.. The music everything bout this.
I love the weather channel back in the early 2000s better than it is today!
Yeah, me too

I think this is what got me into the EAS.

Nothing like pink floyd for your local on the 8's

God I miss the good ol TWC I watched these a lot since 2009 through 2013 before the whole thing changed when I was very little.
I watched The Weather Channel a lot in 1993 and 1994 but I was told that that was unhealthy and I was advised against doing so
Rest in Peace--old and much better--local on the 8's
I miss this video so much and now finally watching this 😊😊😇 I love weather
I remember this broadcast!
I live in Southeast Michigan and that storm was heading right towards me!
I had a Tornado Watch the next day. I was even under a moderate risk for severe weather, but I didn’t really get anything other than a few light showers and some gusty winds 30-35 mph.

Your EAS is cool! And to actually activate it, they must have declared that those areas were under a real, real danger!
POV: it’s the year 2010 and your watching TWC at a hotel

even the weather channel tone for it is scary.. lol
"But first we want to share with you..." [EAS Alert]
Oh okay thanks for sharing
I guess WGN is a station that has an EAS receiver, which I think is weird, considering that this channel was dropped as mentioned in the description.
I can't believe what a night that was. It barely made 70 here that day, with absolutely no sunshine, except for a few rays close to sunrise. If it wasn't for strong wind sheer, we would of just got a boring soaker...
