God damn the overlays popping up with the swing timing/path stuff is so clean. Great vid Hud! I think an important thing to note with the skill tree as well, is that the boosts only apply to certain shot types for some skills, such as floptastic. So if you aren't hitting a lot flop shots, probably not worth it.
So well-explained and presented. Good information, clear and concise. Nice to watch a thought-out and prepared "how-to" video after seeing so many on other channels that are rambling, off-the-cuff, and longer than necessary.
Thanks for making this because the fit thing and skill tree is completely confusing especially for golfing beginners like me who barely know (or care about) the difference between woods and irons. I've played a few golf games before and this is over the top complicated. Like pausing at 6:59 I have *NO FREAKING CLUE* what I'm looking at. None of it makes any sense. While I'm glad you're doing this video and understand you're only trying to help, I find I"m more confused after watching. I do wish that in this video you took a step back and really told us beginners who barely know the difference between an iron and a wedge, things like what a fitting is and how the system works instead of just assuming we know the difference between a shaft on an iron and a grip on a wood, or assuming we even know the difference between an iron, wood, hybrid, and driver. Or explaining in more detail what putt path is. Or the difference between a fitting, shaft, sleeve and grip so we're not totally confused in the rest of the video. So I have a few questions even after this video: 1. Is there a way to see when these skill tree things are active during a game? It seems a nightmare to keep track of, I barely even visit that screen. 2. I think I understand that in fittings you look through that left window and see what thingies (sorry those Power+7 icons, don't know what they're called) you have available for irons. Does a check mark means it is fitted? And so you have to choose which of the thingies on the left you have to attach to each club (or type of club)? And if you have say an Iron Timing +4, you can add it to only one of your irons, the other ones you'll never be able to? And does it make a difference whether you add a shaft, grip, or sleeve? Like could you add an Iron Timing +4 sleeve thingie to your 9 Iron, and an Iron Timing +4 grip thingie to an 5 iron? 3. What does "quick fit", "exchange" and "deconstruct" mean? What does "capacity 24/100" on the left window mean? 4. You said something about lie range that doesn't seem to make sense. You said the higher the rating, the NARROWER the gray area is in the putt swing. Shouldn't it be the opposite? The bigger lie range gives you more of a margin of error i.e. a LARGER width? As far as I'm concerned, 2k23 is a *DOWNGRADE* from 2k21. Does 2K sports realize there are people who are brand new to the game of golf and can't just make a simplified version without all this per-club fitting, skill tree crap. The earlier game had no ability at all to up your skill level and no ratings. So I was glad to see they were adding that to 2k23 but they've just overdone it by about 1000%. The old Tiger Woods EA games made it nice and simple, you have a set of ratings that upgrade as you go through your career. And you can combine sets of ratings to get an overall rating (more sets depending on your overall level). Nice and simple. Doing all of this per-club sleeve, grip stuff is overly complicated and too confusing to be useful. I'm seriously considering just selling this and going back to 2k21 where at least I didn't need a PhD to understand the game.
Literally answered all your own questions, also if you can't assume what a grip or shaft is without prompting i believe you have problems well beyond a video game... Don't play a sim if you don't like the sport to begin with, game devs don't owe you a damn thing lol
@@fredflintstone6729Don't reply to a comment if you don't like the comment to begin with. Rewatched this video after a while playing the game (totally forgot about making that comment or watching this video before) and now I find it very useful, it makes more sense to me because I've experienced it. I still stand by what I said that the system is overly complex, just because I understand a fitting doesn't make it a good system. But really if you don't like a question, don't butt in unless you can be constructive. I still don't take back my questions they made perfect sense at the time. And btw at about $60 a pop, yes I do believe the devs owe us a lot. What a stupid comment that is! Good day sir.
Because I cannot handle Swing timing ( too old ) 😅, what would be the best " Skills, Attributes and fittings " and which to disregard. Thx, brilliant watching.
Thanks for the tutorial(s)! Just into my 2nd month playing this game. Trying to get 2 rounds per day under MyCareer. Currently at Lvl 20. At what point/lvl does "Power" fitting become available for the driver? Understand your logic for the club fittings.
Another inquisitive question regarding shaping. The meter fails to break down/display percentage when moving from neutral (Let's say "0%") position to full spin ("100%"). So adding shaping fittings, how do you know the effect or difference? I use (Have mapped.) the flop with any of the wedges to control the roll. These shots are either 100% "R" or 100% "R" + "L". ~ Thanks ~
For someone whos new and well, bad at the game, how much would timing and swing path affect me as im playing on 3 click instead of stick swing. Like will the gray/white areas get bigger on the bottom and top and also which one of those is what if trying to translate it to the swing path for stick swing?
Do the passive skills stack with the skills that need to be activated? And is the roll boost skill for putting is more harming than helping (or is it actually helpful eg it makes the ball roll more only when I need the extra roll and not during downhill putt situation)? Thanks for the video!
High Lie Range will, for instance, give you 85%-90% power out of rough, rather than 78%-86% (depending on the lie). Timing helps with partial swings, so with Driver it does not need to be very high.
hi i have only been playing just over a month and thought i was doing ok so ii thought is was time to get moving up to the next level but i must have done some thing wrong because now i can’t even hit a ball off the tee it’s a nightmare, i have noticed these boost coming up on the upper right box they are a nightmare to me and i can’t even get the wind direction logo on my screen . can you help is there a reset i can do but don’t what to loose my level. can you help please .

After a year of playing the game, I find just through experience that I understand the system a bit more and your video is definitely very helpful. I will not remove the original comment because I still believe it was appropriate for the time. I still think they way 2k designed the skills and fittings system was rather wonky, not to mention they're so stingy with VC so that you can spend real money on more VC. To the single-brain-celled idiot who replied to the previous comment, I do like the game - to watch and to play on computer. I understood Rory McIlroy and 2k21 just fine, the problem came with this "upgrade" of the skill system which I still find hard to keep track of. And call me a dirty capitalist if you want, but if we're paying $60+ for a game and God knows how much for all the extras we used to get for nothing with 2k21, then yes I do believe the devs owe us at least a manual. Thanks Huddlesworth for a great video. I now realize the game, not you, were to blame for my initial confusion.
Hi , all my clubs got legendary fittings (the orange one), my question is the stats are increase when I add another legendary thats have some stats thats are better, my goal is to reach 100% in some important stats.
Thanks buddy, I was thinking you deleted my message, I will do what you say increase the fittings I need as I learn the video. Thanks a lot for the precious info.
You can take 3 of them, upgrade them to the next rarity, and then once you have legendary orange fittings, you can exchange them for a specific fitting you want!
Question: My fiance likes to play as a local guest and it seems the only way to allow her to have similar upgraded clubs is to "fit" them for the guest player as well.. which means I have to pay double (or triple if my brother plays as a 3rd guest too) for the same fittings I've already paid for with my main character. You know of a way around this? Where she can use my fitted clubs.? Seems like a money grab unless they just play with the standard non-fitted clubs
@@Huddlesworth it seems like even if you select a guest and make them tiger woods, they use the same golf bag that you as the main character start with and have to upgrade with fittings. Which is bullshit since I've already paid for it once

Depending on what difficulty you play at, as you add/take off loft, the carry distance will change. Otherwise, much like actual golf, it's all feel!
Swing Path is probably the most important stat... Once I put it in the high 90s I can see a major improvement.
100%, timing becomes less important as you groove your swing. Swing path forgiveness helps with your tempo as well as forgiveness.
So what affects timing window? Is it swing path or its timing?
For someone whos new and well, bad at the game, how much would timing and swing path affect me as im playing on 3 click instead of stick swing. Yep, the passives stack. Roll with putts, in my experience, doesn’t do much to help so I wouldn’t put points towards it
What does Lie range do exactly? How does timing help you driver if you have goid swing path does timing help with when it says fast or slow on shots
High Lie Range will, for instance, give you 85%-90% power out of rough, rather than 78%-86% (depending on the lie). Timing helps with partial swings, so with Driver it does not need to be very high.

Do you loose anything if you deconstruct and start again?.

Yes, but if you switch fittings, you can keep the old one. In my opinion, never deconstruct a fitting!
