Very cool video. Thanks for preserving history of W. Virginia. We visited White Sulphuric Springs where my wife’s mom grew up. Her “house” is gone from where they once lived. And her grandfather is buried in an unmarked grave in Turner Cemetery. The past quickly flees from memory....
@Whitbywatcher Thanks kindly. I have yet to vist Whitby in England, but I look forward to it. The Abbey has been a great source of Interest to me as well. I actualluy was interviewed on BBC radio about the coincidence of names. It was a night show and while not many folks chimed in, it was great to just be a part of that
I don't know if you're still active on this channel, but the Staffords you speak of at the beginning could be my husband's Grandfather and uncle. They worked in Whitby in the late 40s-50s. Have you researched the area any further? Thank you for posting!
Are you of the Sisk or Price Family? I am very very glad to know this made her day. Please do let me know who some of the folks are Thanks again Mark C
Lonnie Price St. Is my Grandfather my Mom is the girl in the puple dress. I spent a lot of time there. Most of my uncles worked in that mine.Lonnie Sr owed it for a bit then Bob Say owed it he was my uncle.
Authentic footage of an Appalachian coal camp. The people appear playful, happy and open. A treasure.
Congratulations Mark.
