Reinstalled everything recently to tidy the laptop, when the microphone stopped working. Only through watching your video it helped me sort out the issue. Why HP would make the microphone disabled I will never understand. Major thank you for the help you give!!!
this is driver-related issue. Me also done a fresh install of win10 22h2 with HP genuine drivers (not sure)for B&O audio, and mic not work at all. A new install of Realtek instead of B&O driver - solved my problem.

My HP Laptop (model 14-dv2014TU) is experiencing the same issue. I followed your tutorial, but I couldn't find any settings named 'HP Audio Control'; instead, I found 'B&O Audio Control.' However, none of the settings seem to resolve the issue. Could you please assist me in resolving this problem?
Having a decent HP Laptop 14-ce0xxx - and nothing worked to me. I can't even see a vertical bar at "Recording page". Other options seems "ok" as in your video. B&O play (same as HP Audio Switch?) showing empty bar for mic level (0%), but even if i drag it to 100% - it resets after closing this app to 0% again, lol. upd: Fixed issue with HP website! Suport page - HP Pavilion - 14-bf023ur Downloaded Realtek High-Definition (HD) Audio (Windows 10 version 1803) for win 10 x64 Rev: 6.0.8940.1 Rev.A File size: 93.3 MB It asked me to uninstall old driver, then reboot, and then installed a new driver, and EVEN BEFORE 2nd reboot - i had a vertical bar and fully working mic!
you may be using bang and olufsen instead of the hp audio control just check the conexant thingy's just search for your audio engine online or in the search bar and youll be able to fix this
i can 't believe that is was also my problem I have been using linux and all the audio inputs are okay and in windows i had gone through all the audio setting except for that one setting.
This was my exact problem I just remembered that my hp uses bang&olufsed audio and i hadn't checked. that begs the question why TF* does it default to microphone muted? These are some of the things the suck on windows. thanks so much for the help buddy.

When I check audio inputs and outputs the microphone icon is not there.
Set power settings to maximum as this can also help.
