You're absolutely right, Rocket's obsession with stealing prosthetics isn't funny. BUT. To be fair: The REASON it's not funny, is because it's hilarious.
24:02 I'm always reminded of the legendary line from the Street Fighter movie. "(long speech about how the bad guy killed her father in such a way and how much it effected her life)" "I'm sorry... but I don't remember any of it." "You don't remember?!?!" "For you, the day I graced your village was the most important day of your life; but for me? It was tuesday."
There wasn't a massive jump in CG, it's really just James Gunn going all out on something he enjoyed. The man went from Tromeo and Juliet to Slither to GotG to now heading DC movies is an amazing journey.
Howard the Duck was one of Marvels first attempts to make a movie from one of their comics, the movie came out in the 80's. The character is cannon to the MCU because of his appearance in the end credits here, and in future movies. - the movie is cult classic that many people either love or hate. I land on the love side.
I understand thinking locks aren't good deterrents, esp after the lockpicking lawyer, but you have to remember that most criminals are not very bright. Most times they aren't prepared or competent either. So if a lock deters 99% of them, they aren't super useless.
So the way Groot's voice works is that there is some sort of telepathic component to him, so that when he says 'I am Groot,' you need to bond with him, and at a certain point when you bond with him, start to understand what he's saying
28:35 If you watch south park, It's very similar to timmy. In one episode Timmy is having an argument with Jimmy. "Timmy!" "Wh... what?" "... Timmy." "what's that timmy?" ".. Timmy!!" "Now, don't you lecture me on the complexities of sportsmanship..."
There was a serial killer a few years ago that would go around trying people's front doors and when he found one unlocked, he'd just go in and kill everyone. He said he felt like if it was unlocked, they were inviting him in.
About Quill giving up his mask to save Gamora: I don't think it's just because he has a crush on her, because we saw how he completely ignored his previous hookup Bereet at the start of the movie. Instead I think he decided Gamora was worth saving when she told him she was abducted and abused by an alien father (Thanos) and her birth parents are dead, because he relates to that from his experiences with Yondu.
FWIW, comics and superheroes aren't always just about powers and amazing abilities. When you break it down it's simply about heroes trying to do good against evil. Sometimes the heroes have superpowers, or magic, or cool weapons, or bionic limbs, but sometimes they are fairly normal but have unique back stories, or other abilities like being very smart, or a good fighter, or they just want to help. Think about Batman... His greatest assets are his smarts, strength, and that he's rich. He's a normal guy, but one that used what he had to become the world's greatest detective that can solve just about any predicament, as well as a vigilante. The Guardians of the Galaxy on the other hand are one such group of fairly normal heroes. Sure, Groot is a super strong tree who can manipulate his body. Rocket is a genius and weapons expert. Gamora is a skilled fighter and assassin. And Peter is a leader, tactician, and fighter. But overall they are nothing special.... but together, they are HEROES!!!
8:10 Oh no. Not the Lockpicking Lawyer. I picked up lockpicking as a home hobby because of his videos. It's a very soothing activity, much like watching his videos.
My favorite take on the bad guy monolauge... "Something Vimes had learned as a young guard drifted up from memory. If you have to look along the shaft of an arrow from the wrong end, if a man has you entirely at his mercy, then hope like hell that man is an evil man. Because the evil like power, power over people, and they want to see you in fear. They want you to know you're going to die. So they'll talk. They'll gloat. They'll watch you squirm. They'll put off the moment of murder like another man will put off a good cigar. So hope like hell your captor is an evil man. A good man will kill you with hardly a word.” ― Terry Pratchett, Men at Arms
your watch is fast. Poor guy went from proud new guardian to father loosing his daughter and grandson in less time than it takes most folks to take a leak.
When you were taking about the villain talking about their plans it reminded me of a couple bits in the move The Incredibles. Know your into the cinematography, but would be interesting to see you check out some of the great animated movies as well.
Captain America was a much more reality-grounded war/spy movie with little need for cgi, this is a scifi space fantasy, so naturally there's gonna be a ton more cgi.
Umm... I have a walkman (cassette player for those that don't know what a walkman was) from the 1970's that still works today. They're 48 years old. Things back then were not made of the cheapest materials like they are now a days. These latest generations have become used to expecting things they buy to not last and to have to be replaced frequently for higher prices. Ya'll have been brainwashed because they use cheaper builds so they don't last, so you have to keep buying.
Since they really don't explain it in any of the movies: The Nova Corps are basically space cops. They got nerfed super hard in the MCU. It's a pity really, how bad a hand they were dealt. Ronan the Accuser is super strong. Thor level strong. Honestly, I don't even know why he wanted the stones. Maybe he was collecting them for the Kree Supreme Intelligence. I don't know. He could have 1v1'd Thanos with just that big ass hammer of his. I love The Guardians of the Galaxy but the MCU did cosmic Marvel so dirty. Also, The Collector isn't just some weird alien. He's something like a primordial being in the Marvel Universe. He's been around since literally forever. He just likes collecting rare and odd things.
The way he took care of his instruments He made those headphones last Can't believe there wasn't a little auxiliary connection That didn't quite fit After years of usage
"I Am Groot" * 🤔 *[translated from megaflora] The Guardians all have powers already.... 1. Starlord is an alien human hybrid. ( More on that later ) Raised by space pirates. 2. Have you ever seen the show by Tom Hardy called Taboo? It is 8 episodes and each is a movie in itself. It is by far my Favorite tv series ever. Highly recommend ❤
37:12 Bad guys and their monologues! I see you have already put the next movie Avengers: Age of Ultron on your channel. In that film they do kind of throw a lampshade on that trope by having the villain say "I'm glad you asked that, so I can explain my evil plan" and then immediately fight instead of actually talking.
Groovy is an ancient species and in Norse mythology his species was the tree of life they teach groom on a square as an elective, but good is an ancient tree species
James Gunn is a master of his craft. Even Pre-Marvel. I love his movie Slither and can't wait to see what he does with DC but I'd love to see him make another horror movie.
The villain momologue used to bother me a lot, but after I've encountered multiple narcissists who NEED to show others how smart and right they are, it actually seems plausible.
I have asked that since first seeing the movie how no one acknowledges the woman just died her son runs off never to be seen again that family must have went through it.
Volume 2 explains a lot of things, but Volume 3 of the Guardians of the Galaxy is the best of all. Looking forward to your next reaction in the Marvel Universe.
I would now love to see MrLBoyd react to the 80's classic movie "Howard The Duck!", which yes he was a Marvel comic character that they did make into a movie... an absolutely terrible movie but one that I weirdly love!
Or a foot to the hinge side, since even a reinforced lock won't help you. Ive always looked at home defense as a joke of a concept except for how prepared you are for an intrusion yourself. If someone wants into your home badly enough, they are getting in. Be ready for THAT!
Ayo. Lock-picking Lawyer is great, love his videos. Also, I loved Guardians 1. Probably my favorite 'MCU' movie. I think the sequel was still pretty good too, although a lot of people didn't like it.
Guardians of the Galaxy series (including the Christmas Special) are my favorites other then the Deadpool movies starring Ryan Reynolds! I haven't liked super hero type movies since the original Batman movies and when Christopher Reeves was still Superman and of course the Cult Classics Flash Gordan, The Beast Master, and Conan The Barbarian, lol! But I'm old😂
You're absolutely right, Rocket's obsession with stealing prosthetics isn't funny. BUT. To be fair: The REASON it's not funny, is because it's hilarious.
It's kind of in his nature. Raccoons and shiny things go hand in hand. Raccoon dens are sometimes littered with shiny, "stolen" man made objects.
I wonder if it goes back to his origins. A bit of dark humor.
24:02 I'm always reminded of the legendary line from the Street Fighter movie.
"(long speech about how the bad guy killed her father in such a way and how much it effected her life)"
"I'm sorry... but I don't remember any of it."
"You don't remember?!?!"
"For you, the day I graced your village was the most important day of your life; but for me? It was tuesday."
Having Howard the Duck appear as a cameo in this film truly made me happy. I absolutely loved his movie when I was a kid.
same
That movie felt like a fever dream to me as a kid. great times
Rocket and Groot are basically Marvel’s Han Solo and Chewbacca
That “big ass man” is Batista, former world heavyweight and WWE champion respectively
There wasn't a massive jump in CG, it's really just James Gunn going all out on something he enjoyed. The man went from Tromeo and
Juliet to Slither to GotG to now heading DC movies is an amazing journey.
"What is this tree thing about?"
Well, he is Groot. You need more?
Drax and Gamora have super strength compared to a human
Kevin bacon is one of earth's mightiest heros!
Bruh the lockpicking lawyer is GREAT.
to be accurate, if your lock and door are secure, a thief will just break a window, so no real difference.
There will be no lpl slander lol
Howard the Duck was one of Marvels first attempts to make a movie from one of their comics, the movie came out in the 80's.

The lock picking lawyer reference was hilarious. Thank you for the insight. I too have been down that rabbit hole. 😂
or through that rabbit hole you might say
Sasssssyd yadedddsg89vt😊zyyyy@@fir3gaming664
Blew my mind. One of my coworkers with whom I saw this in the theater passed away suddenly last week. This brings back good memories. 😊😊❤❤

Yet Thor was able to understand him because of an elective class he took at University.
@@stanmann356yup. Both things at once, kinda, i suppose

Richard Chase, the Vampire Killer
@ericlaw171 there was another one called the Denver Hammer Killer in the 80s who was similar, also looked for open garage doors.

True, for us non-robots (lol), "We are Groot" gets us every time. ^_^ :P
36:20 thats because you are Logical Movie, not Emotional Movie Reviews MRLBOYD, but dont worry, your almost Vulcan-like logicality is also endearing.

Hey! I've gut headphones from the 80s that still work. The yellow fold up ones that came with my Sony "Sports Walkman"
#1 best thing of your commentary.... you didn't stop it Talking About the visual Effects ...I'm glad To enjoy this reaction with you
Drax is technically a Disney princess
He is a man... can't be a princess
So is Maxwell Klinger from Mash.
8:10 Oh no. Not the Lockpicking Lawyer. I picked up lockpicking as a home hobby because of his videos. It's a very soothing activity, much like watching his videos.
Dave Bautista / Drax is currently the tallest Marvel actor at 6’6’’. Lee Pace / Ronan is tied for second at 6'5". Chris Pratt is 7th or so at 6'2".
Bautista is closer to 6'4
"I'm distracting you, you big turd blossom!"

Star Lord's grandfather is the single worst guardian ever he had custody for all of 5 minutes 😅😅😅

Not calling Rocket a squirrel! 😂

My favorite marvel movie, and its in my top 10 for favorite movies of all time. LOVE this film!
Considering that the Kevin Bacon/FOOTLOOSE references not only continue, but ESCALATE greatly... you should probably watch the original Footloose.
get ready to love a tree and a racoon more my dude )
Captain America was a much more reality-grounded war/spy movie with little need for cgi, this is a scifi space fantasy, so naturally there's gonna be a ton more cgi.
Give the Man a like share and subscribe.
I absolutely can not wait for the next 2 gaurdians of the galaxy reactions
Only a select few knew these characters. Most people discovered GOTG in the theater.
It is a different team. This is James Gunn's Marvel. Different animal entirely from the people who created the more serious grounded Marvel movies.
I'd be super interested to see you, specifically, react to 2001 A Space Odyssey. It's a Stanley Kubrik movie released in 1968
Barry Lyndon as well.
Specifically that movie 🥴
Vin Diesel had his own script which had the English equivalent of each "I am Groot" and adjusted his performance to match.

Not a squirrel - he's a "trash panda" - named for the Beatles song Rocky Racoon..
Totally forgot Peter Serafinowicz is in this. Brilliant.

Guardians of the Galaxy is my 3rd favorite MCU movie after Infinity War and Winter Soldier.
Guardians is an emotional roller coaster
The greatest comment you have ever made was calling Rocket Raccoon a squirrel. Trust me that will pay off.
you _JUST_ found the lockpicking lawyer? ahahah you're lucky. i would love to be able to see all his videos for the first time again. he's fantastic.

"I Am Groot" *
🤔
*[translated from megaflora]
The Guardians all have powers already....
1. Starlord is an alien human hybrid. ( More on that later ) Raised by space pirates.
2. Rocket is a talking raccoon cyborg and mad scientist in his own right. ( More on that later )
3. Groot is Groot.
4. Gammora is an Alien assassin of galactic renown (she is super-stabby)
5. Drax is an Alien super soldier (he is super-punchy)

i tried again but that was the last time, i just cant i need to block. He stops and starts more than a set of traffic lights
Watch The Incredibles if you haven't yet, based on specific pieces from your commentary.
Go a head tell em about the dance off to save the universe!
"Is that his father?" NO, you will learn of him in the sequel
James Gunn is a master of his craft. Even Pre-Marvel. I love his movie Slither and can't wait to see what he does with DC but I'd love to see him make another horror movie.

The villain momologue used to bother me a lot, but after I've encountered multiple narcissists who NEED to show others how smart and right they are, it actually seems plausible.
7:10 I just realized this is like a talking Squirrel or something.
this isn't only my favorite marvel movie (the only other one not gotg is dr strange) but it's right near the top of my all time favorites period.
15:32 the score is original, however it does sound similar to the Avenger’s Theme, seeing as they’re basically pirate space Avengers lol
I have asked that since first seeing the movie how no one acknowledges the woman just died her son runs off never to be seen again that family must have went through it.

Awesome reaction of my favorite Marvel movie!!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊
Am I crazy or if I'm not seeing him react to a single and credit scene? Or does he do so on patrion...
They are here a little bit
Nah that's the guardians theme.
Bradley Cooper voices Rocket.
Groot makes sense once you've bonded with him.
The Big Man is a former wrestler named Batista.
Ronan got caught monologuing (see - The Incredibles).
Lock pick lawyer is a great reference. but a shoulder to a door at the lock always breaks
Or a foot to the hinge side, since even a reinforced lock won't help you. Ive always looked at home defense as a joke of a concept except for how prepared you are for an intrusion yourself. If someone wants into your home badly enough, they are getting in. Be ready for THAT!

Dave Bautista 6'4" 290 ya hes not small

Pelvic sorcery is my favorite term from this movie. It’s powerful. Haha
The collector is an elder of the universe he's really old and his collection has a lot of wierd stuff
Gamara is considered the deadliest woman in the galexy she can handle herself
Villians only weakness cought monologing
Peter is only half EarthLink he's daddy ain't from around here
back when marvel invested in VFX
Guardians of the Galaxy series (including the Christmas Special) are my favorites other then the Deadpool movies starring Ryan Reynolds!
I haven't liked super hero type movies since the original Batman movies and when Christopher Reeves was still Superman and of course the Cult Classics Flash Gordan, The Beast Master, and Conan The Barbarian, lol!
But I'm old😂
Black widow and Hawkeye are both part of the avengers and they don't have superpowers so you don't need to be superhuman
Up til now mcu all been either on earth or asguard so they went all out for space pirate adventure
You will find out later why almost spit out my drink when you called Rocket a talking squirrel.
Drax is a logical thinker lol
Bad guys always feel the need to tell how they got to that point.
Rocket is a geneticly altered raccoon he has a few enhancements intellegence is one of em and he obviously loves guns
My dad loves lock picking 101 2 no such thing as a lock if you got the right tools
And we know what Eddie Murphy said about green women...
