  • January 28, 1992 - Every now and again, the questions float about. Would David Robinson be Giannis in today's basketball landscape? Joel Embiid? Karl-Anthony Towns? The answer to all three: No, he'd be David Robinson. Here's, the Admiral's unique composition of size, strength, and speed was on display in an end-to-end burner past Michael Jordan for a pandemonium inducing two-hand slam. Robinson finished with 21 points, 13 rebounds, 8 blocks, and 3 steals in a 108-103 Spurs victory, snapping the Bulls' 13-game win streak.

That’s true. The only game they would usually win , was against Dallas. The Mavericks were horrible at that time during the bulls championship run . Even the championship teams 1st and 2nd 3 peat , would get smashed in San Antonio and Houston. I always hated that Texas triangle. Not to many teams had sustained success on that trip .

The top 150 single season steals leaders of all time averaged more than 2.3 steals a game, so averaging 2.3 steals is not uncommon. More surprising is that he had 5 blocks per game, and I am guessing this is the season where he ended up averaging 4.5 blocks per game. He is like number 7 all time in blocks average for a single season, which was the 91-92 season. 5 blocks a game is hard to do, and only one man in history has ended the season averaging 5 blocks per game for the entire season. It has literally only been done once, and the crazy part is he averaged 5.5 blocks a game, and nobody else has even averaged 5 for an entire season. Nonetheless, his numbers at this point in the season are actually some of the best all around numbers any player has put up, so he was having a great season. Out of all the stats though, that 5 blocks per game stands out, because that is the most uncommon by far of his stats. Sure you might see a guy average 3, and sometimes 4, but you never see a guy at any point of any season averaging 5 blocks per game. Mark Eaton holds the single season average of 5.56 blocks per game, nobody else has even averaged 5 per game, and the single season blocks average record will probably never be broken. Who is gonna break that record? I do not see it happening. That is why the stat of averaging 5 blocks per game stands out to me, because you never see that.

Uploader...I understand that you want to show how elite David Robinson was, but those of us who watched him and basketball in the 1990's know that he was way better than the guys playing now!! We don't necessarily need video evidence of it!! The modern day centers/post players that you named would have traveled and not had it called on a play like this!! You should probably ignore the goofballs who want to compare today's soft players to the truly elite guys who played before David Stern softened the game in 2004/2005, there's no comparison. The question should be, would David Robinson be able to average 45PPG in today's game where he'd be able travel, palm the ball, not have to worry about any physicality and just sit out 10-15 games when he's healthy!!
Another thing to appreciate about this video is, all the stars are playing and Doug Collins mentions the intensity!! If they were going by today's standards, Jordan, Pippen and/or David Robinson would probably be sitting out of a game like this even though it could be a Finals preview.
