    This is a video of me playing Desolate Motion by Karawan on Rocksmith 2014. There are a few mistakes in the video but I thought I would post it anyway since I finally got the Platinum Pick on this run. Sorry for no PIP. If you want to see a great version with hands, please check out Nyarlah's video!

    Anyhow, hopefully it gives you all a general idea of how to play the song, even if it is a bit messy in parts. As always, appropriate comments and constructive feedback are appreciated :)
    P.S. I do not claim any copyrights on the music or game in this video!!!

      Its not that hard to be honest (in my opinion), the majority is basically hammer-ons and pull-offs, a tapping part that isn't all that hard if you actually try to practice that part, and the rest of the song is pretty easy.

    • @crispypeepohole69
      @crispypeepohole69 6 років тому +6

      I would say it's not a difficult song all thing considered, it's just incredibly easy to screw up and, in terms the note/song structure, therefore makes it sound terrible when you actually mess up, making you think you're worse than you are. I would say though, this song is a great way to initiate you into what it feels to play shred guitar.

    @iCanHasRandomness 9 років тому +25

    currently I can't even pass 40% but it's by far one of the best songs there (to me personally). And today I hear that they're going to bring guitar hero back to life. I can't help but wonder WHY... Why would anyone want that plastic piece of crap when you can have this majestic creature?

    • @inverseactuality
      @inverseactuality 9 років тому +7

      Yuro Lohe There's nothing wrong with Guitar Hero or similar rhythm games. At this point in time it would be more fun for me to play Yngwie Malmsteen songs decently on Rock Band than to fail miserably on this on Rocksmith. Many guitarists seem to think that guitar and Guitar Hero are somehow comparable. They're not even close to the same thing and they're played for very different reasons. Yet oddly it's always the guitarists who seem to think that rhythm game players are the ones who think they're comparable when we're under no illusions, we know that Guitar Hero doesn't make us musicians or good at music/guitar or cool in the slightest. Guitar Hero is also motivational. I didn't really pay that much attention to guitar until I played Guitar Hero. I wouldn't have been motivated to learn to play guitar if I didn't play rhythm games and as a result pay more attention to music.

    • @piotrekuygiutf4946
      @piotrekuygiutf4946 9 років тому +2

      Yuro Lohe I had tha same like Magniloquent. I started to play guitar because of rythm games. Even at start i could keep my rythm constantly with no problems and i knew that i won't get bored because it's a game :D Games aren't boring :)

    • @elitebelt
      @elitebelt 8 років тому +1

      +Yuro Lohe I used to play a lot of Guitar Hero before actual guitar, and it actually got me farther on real guitar than my friends who also picked up rocksmith. Also, it's way easier to play songs like Through the Fire and Flames on Guitar Hero than it is on actual guitar. You'l spend well over a decade trying to play that song if you're just starting out, then it isn't really worth it at that point.

    This is really amazing, especially to a total and complete newb like me. I literally just started Rocksmith about 2 hours ago... Before that, I tried to dabble a bit on guitar, but never got past a few chords and some easy strumming songs. How long did it take you to get to this level? Any tips for when it gets really frustrating?

    • @TheGod0fCookies
      @TheGod0fCookies 8 років тому +2

      If it gets frustrating, take a break then come back.
      Trust me, playing while getting annoyed at it will make you play worse, which will make you more frustrated, play worse ect.
      I'd recommend using the riff repeater on songs you really want to learn, start slow, add more notes.
      This song used to scare the shit out of me, I've been taking music seriously for less than year and I can play this with a few errors.
      You can do it dude, but you have to want it. ;D

    Hello, Nick! I think you're an amazing guitarist, an inspiration I'd say. I'm 14 and I've been playing for about 1.5 years for now. Any tips on how to start learning solos and that kind of crap? Keep on rocking, bro! :)

    • @NickyScissors2048
      @NickyScissors2048  11 років тому +4

      Thanks Darkian! As for soloing, it will take time to build up the speed and muscle memory so stay patient with it. I would recommend finding a solo that you really want to learn and is a bit above your current skill level. Take it into Riff Repeater and play it with all of the notes but at a speed where you can learn to play it cleanly as well as memorize it. Once you have it down at that speed, slowly speed it up 1% or 2% until you can play it cleanly at that speed. Rinse and repeat:)
      Also, make sure to do some practice outside of the songs (Session Mode is awesome!) and learn some scales. Play them ascending, descending, in different positions around the neck, as quarter notes and triplet notes, etc. Make sure to change it up as well. 15 minutes a day for a few weeks, months, and/or years will go a long way into your ability to solo! Thanks for watching!

    • @Airtrooper719
      @Airtrooper719 9 років тому

      Nick Smith Which pick do you use for standard tuning Nick? I just ordered a V-pick, apparently they really aid you in catching those upstrokes quickly when alternate picking fast scales etc. Unfortunately my tortex .88mm likes to snag my strings a little on some of the scales on this song, so Im having to put extra forearm work in there to get it up to speed.

    • @tomsfruitstand6821
      @tomsfruitstand6821 8 років тому +1

      +Darkian1314 practice alone without rocksmith with a metronome. Play a simple arpeggio slow then faster. This will build accuracy between your picking and fretting hand.

    • @MylesMarrero
      @MylesMarrero 10 років тому

      That's pretty tough too, but I thing the solos are more doable for an intermediate player and not a more experienced one. The hardest parts are the ones with chords in my opinion.

    • @thiccbrah
      @thiccbrah 10 років тому

      ***** I find that the chords aren't as hard as the parts that aren't synchronised with the rest of the song. The beginning is a perfect example of this. You can learn the chords, but to play something that isn't synced with the rest is quite a different challenge

    • @Dmardak

      This song is actually quite easy. Mostly a bunch of hammerons

    • @Airtrooper719
      @Airtrooper719 9 років тому

      David Mardakhayev There are a few tricky parts that will test ones alternate picking capabilities though, sure you can mince about with loads of hammerons and probably get the game to register them, but it just doesnt sound right without picking in appropriate places such as the main riff and the ascending scale after it.
