LOVE this product! The ability to contain the tinder in place (in the box) is a "Winner-winner, Chicken dinner!" for me. This is a "must have" in my truck bag.

Couldn't agree with you more. When I first saw this item I was like " oh great is battlbox becoming alpha outpost". But after using it a couple times I'm seriously impressed with it.

I'm glad to see this video! I thought it was a cheap gimmicky pos when I seen it but it's actually amazingly useful and works better then your expect. I tired soft and hardwoods and worked just as good with either and very little effort.. the fire steel is a bit short but actually good material and throws pretty hot sparks.
(FYI... fat wood caught in one spark every time)

yea, wasn't super impressed with the fire steel but the cheese grader idea was awesome!

I thought it took a minute to take the coated layer of the fero rod. Nice demo!

It rather resembles a miniature version of the Stanley Surform pocket plane.

I bought the smith’s lathe a few years ago for this same purpose, works well but not as well as this tool and is not nearly as compact. I saw your video and bought two of these. One of the nice things about it is that it works with any size wood. The pencil sharpener advocates - yes I have those too - forget that the wood used has to fit inside the pencil sharpener. Duh! With this tool any piece of wood I pick up becomes tinder regardless of size.

I carry a carpenter's pencil sharpener. $2.00 or $3.00 at any hardware store....

I would recommend a survival skills book The Lost Ways reviewed here(foryourhealth.ga/survival-skills-book/) if you want to know about how to survive the wild. Before the internet or robots or the industrial revolution, your ancestors had to survive on their own. This book is the sum of their immense survival knowledge.

Okay, first spend 1/2 hour using the box grater to shave wood. Next pack shavings so tight that oxygen can't actually get to the wood . Three now unsuccessfully start the fire 10 or 15 times. - I've been actually just using my knife using the woods as my limitless source of tender.

first of all your tinder bundle was to tight ... leave it loose so air can help get it started!
also it was not the branch you used..... ^^^^ agian

i just made over 6 oz.of fat wood tender with this item today....that's a lot of tender!
I put it in small zip lock baggies.
BTW throw the ferro rod and striker away....it's useless!

  • @Robert31352
