Hey Jason, thanks so much. I have been struggling with the 4 Cable Method and my Marshall DSL 20 for weeks. I could not get it to work or get my head around it. Been through the manual and numerous other forum posts. When I saw this video I thought "It can't be that easy", but EUREKAAAAA!!! A few things to mention though in the hope that it will help others struggling. The level of the signal before the Pod Go FX Loop block being passed through the FX Loop must be adjusted by the FX Mono Loop block controls, to get a nice level. My Marshall pedal FX loop switch must be engaged to bring in the effects after the Pod Go FX Mono Loop block. And, very importantly, the level of the effects/signal after the loop is controlled by the Pod Go main volume control. Which muddys the water and threw me a curve ball, as it has no effect on the signal before the FX Mono Loop block.
I think you solved a mystery for me. A friend of mine came over with his Pod Go so I could test it out, as I was thinking of buying one for recording. We plugged the main mono output into my Allen Heath analog board via a DI box. It just sounded terrible with over driven and distortion sounds. It was harsh, sounded fizzy with the highs and muddy at times also. I don't think, based on what you mentioned here, that the IR cab was engaged, as I know this unit can sound really good from other videos I have watched. I was super very disappointed I will have to get my friend's Pod Go back over here for another test drive. Thanks for sharing this info as I really would like to get great distortion and overdrive recording direct into a DAW. Phil NYC Area
@@JasonCGuitarOfficial Yes, and thanks to your video I saw how you turn it on and off. This has to explain why my friend Pod Go sounded so bad through my recording mixer. Does using the stereo outputs to a mixer's (TRS line inputs) sound the same as using a DI box to a mixer with the Pod Go? Have you ever tried that? Just curious. Thanks.... Phil
That patch was pretty solid. I was leaning towards keeping my 500X and adding a two notes torpedo to it. This is making me change my tune. I like that you can turn off the cabs on the fly. The 500X, it's not that simple.
Great vid. If you don't mind, a couple questions. 1. Did you run AMP OUT to the front of the amp or did you use the L Mono Out? From what I'm to understand, there is a difference. 2. Have you ever run direct-to-PA and ALSO to your amp/cab for live play? The reason I ask is because if you're running direct, the amp sound won't matter. You'll end up just using it for stage volume. 3. If you have FRFR's, you can also run XLR our to FOH from them. I've done it with the Headrush FRFR 108's a couple of times.
@@JasonCGuitarOfficial I've thought about utilizing a Line 6 Catalyst 2x12 as a backup/stage monitor. There's a lot of people doing that instead of the Powercabs.

After a period of research and personal debate, I finally went with studio monitors as my home practice solution. In my case I purchased JBL 308 Mk II 8" studio monitors. My question relates to volume control, between the guitar, the Pod Go, and the monitors. I generally play on the acoustic sim and clean to medium-gain spectrum, rarely if ever using high-gain/heavy distortion effects or pre-amp/CAB IRs. All things being equal, when first deciding where mid/max volume is going to be and balance volume with quality of tone, is it better to: 1. I know once I get max volume set (in my case, trying to avoid natural distortion on the monitor but loud enough to hear everything in the signal chain from the guitar itself to the effects and the pre-amp/cab IR) I can use the guitar volume knob to dial down or up for "pushing" the pod go into distortion or cleaning it up. Does it just/only bypass the tone controls in the front when using the return in the back? In other words, if I chose to use the amp's distortion and wanted to swap between clean and dirty, does that still work? I don't have an amp to test right now.
are you using the main out on the pod go or the amp out? does it matter which one you use on a real guitar combo amp? Also, is there a way to turn off all cab sims for the unit so I don't have to keep doing it each time I change a preset? Thanks! great videos!
Amazing set! Could you let me know if you have same output sound through scarlet plus monitors and pod go directly to monitors? I have headset and I can not get same volume at the end and it's awfully!!!
Hi there. As the pod go has a built in interface, would it be ok just to use that, instead of the scarlet one you showed in this video? Thanks for your help.
I’m connecting my main out from a ts-Ts cable to a Rackmount presonus StudioLive, and that goes to the presonus StudioLive mixer. what kind of monitors can ibuy that i can plug directly into? I like playing downstairs sometimes and just wanna be able to plug into some speakers and play.

Hello Jason, New Podgo user and thank you very much for your Videos. Sorry major bone head questions. I have a Mackie mixer with 2 Powered SRM 450 speakers. Most of the stock presets sound like crap so I purchased some killer sounding presets for clean, crunch, lead etc. They still dont sound good. I am ready to go back to an amp. Can you tell me the best way to connect direct to my mackie board. I have 1 or 2 TRS quarter inch to XLR cables so I can run mono or stereo. I will buy whatever cables are necessary to make this sound good. How would you hook it up? 2) sorry, slow guy, you said to turn off the cabinet response on the podgo. can you please tell me how to do that. I am not technical and I couldnt see what you were doing to turn it off. I am hoping by addressing both of my questions I can get back to some killer sound running direct. My other guitar bandmate has another modeler that sounds awesome direct to my PA so I know I am doing something wrong on my podgo. thank you for your help! Tom
I like the method connecting the Return to the PG and isolating the Cab. But for this to work with my Blackstar amp I have to plug either a cable or headphone plug adapter into the input of the amp. If i dont, i get no sound. I prefer to just use the headphone adapter socket then theres no trailing cable.
Hi, I am thinking about running my pod go into a pair of presonus eris 3.5 speakers. The speakers have a left and right 1/4 in jack. if i run a TRS cable from the pod to the speaker will i get stereo sound, only 1 monitor or mono from both ? Thanks in advance.

Does it just/only bypass the tone controls in the front when using the return in the back? In other words, if I chose to use the amp's distortion and wanted to swap between clean and dirty, does that still work? I don't have an amp to test right now.
Ty for your Video. My amp has a Power amp in also. Could i just put it into that and have the same as if i use the effects return?
When connecting direct to PA, whats the function of the DI box? Is it really needed?
are you using the main out on the pod go or the amp out? does it matter which one you use on a real guitar combo amp? Also, is there a way to turn off all cab sims for the unit so I don't have to keep doing it each time I change a preset? Thanks! great videos!
I went back and looked. He had it in the Main Out.
That tone was awesome what amp model were you using?
What do you plug into effects loop send of your amplifier ??
Can you plz share your impulse response I don’t have any I can’t find them anywhere and I want that PA system sound amk
It was shared in the PodGo Group facebook.com/groups/podgousers
Hi Jason, do you need a TRS cable to connect it direct to the studio monitor or can you use a TS cable?
when you go into an amplifier aren't you suppose to use the amp out put instead. I thought that eliminates the cab and amp sims.
I’m connecting my main out from a ts-Ts cable to a Rackmount presonus StudioLive, and that goes to the presonus StudioLive mixer. But I ain’t getting the full sound of the pod go (through the speakers that goes to the audience) as if I were playing the same patch through my headphones at home. What could be wrong with my setup?
Pd: I do have main out: precab/Ir. And it’s mono the setup
@@JasonCGuitarOfficial Makes sense, but I couldn’t even hear the delays feedback? I just had a patch with distortion and delay, and I couldn’t even hear the feedback, and the guitar sounded cleaned, not even like distorted. Still the same thing? Cause the delay feedback at least should have sounded
what kind of monitors can ibuy that i can plug directly into? I like playing downstairs sometimes and just wanna be able to plug into some speakers and play.
How do you connect to the audio interface from the pod go? I already have the monitors connected to the interface via RCA. My interface has TRS inputs would that be how I connect it from the pod go mains?
How do you connect to the PA with only TRS cable, to the line input? Thank you.
The Board you are plugging into has to support TRS via a Combo Jack or1/4 TRS input
@@JasonCGuitarOfficial Thank you
Hello Jason,
New Podgo user and thank you very much for your Videos. Tom
Thank you so much for your quick response and expertise. I will give it a shot tomorrow. Best Tom,@@JasonCGuitarOfficial
Jason Constantine Not your fault 😂👍 Great video by the way.
OK fine. But tell me how to connect the signal to the amplifier and mixer at the same time? at a live concert
You would need a TRS to two TR Y Cable.
Thanks for the video. What’s the proper method of connecting my pod go to an frfr speaker? Also when I use a drop d pedal into the pod go it seems to sound low and like crap .
@@JasonCGuitarOfficial it’s a digit each drop d pedal I use for down tuning . When I engage the pedal it sound like shit. I’m sure I have it running wrong . Any help?
Very helpful videos, thanks! I'm planning to hook up the POD GO direct to mixer without a direct box. My question is do you use 1/4 TS to XLR or 1/4 TRS to XLR cable?
@@JasonCGuitarOfficial thanks!
@@JasonCGuitarOfficial BTW it shouldn't be an issue if I do use a TRS to XLR cable right? Can't seem to find one right now
What would you suggest if you don’t have an fx loop on your amp?
Omg! Jason, imho, you just reinvented the wheel... So, main output from Pod, to return of amp right? Now, could I add a Line 6 DL4 to that set? I suppose it could be connected to the pod’s fx loop right? Thank you?
One additional question: is there any situation where the Amp Out of the POD Go is useful? I had seen a lot of videos but almost nobody cares about the Amp Out jack. Thanks again.
@@JasonCGuitarOfficial Excellent, pretty clear now. Thank you!.
Where can I purchase the foot switch top covers ???
Hey bro. I have the same amp EVH. What if i want to use both amp for my stage output and at the same time output for front house monitors ? Should i connect DI to EVH output return or to Line 6 pedal ? Thanks a lot for your support. Cheers
I ordered one a while ago still waiting ! But can I use it through my boss katana power amp in port
Jason what if I want to run to FOH and also have an frfr behind me on stage. I have harbinger v2312 powered speaker. Where do I hook that up too? I don't want to lose pedals in the process. I was told keep distortion in front of cab and delays after cab. So don't want to move cab around. I would like to have some stage volume with my other players.
I'm really confused.
Mike
@@JasonCGuitarOfficial Thank you for the advice. I like your viedos very cool. I also learned to set the volume knob to control the amp only so I can adjust to my taste. Pretty cool unit. I am having som backlase from a sound guy who doesn't understand the idea of the podgo. He still thinks I need to run it into an amp. PA's are not used for guitar sounds he says. I think my podgo sounds good out of a PA. I played a couple places and it turned out well.
@@JasonCGuitarOfficial so I played a gig Friday and the sound guy had a XLR cable and no DI box. So I used the amp out to my harbinger v2312. Then he connected the XLR to back of my speaker. It sounded good but was the correct way to connect? I tried to discuss with him but you know sound guys. They know best.
When you hooked into the audio interface is it recording in stereo? What out do you use?
I know this post is old, but just ran across this. I like your tone, do you have any patches you sell, or any settings you would give up? I like my pod go, trying to get a good rhythm tone...
Thanks!!
Great video man! I'll def be getting a PodGo very soon as I have a bunch of restaurant/hotel gigs coming up... and am planning to plug straight in to a small portable PA so I don't have to lug my amp around for these small gigs! I'll probably plug in to my amp at home for practicing tho and for band rehearsals too... one question, when plugging in to an amp isn't best to use the dedicated amp out? Thanks again!
Jason Constantine ah ok cool...thanks for that info!
