I feel that this could also help when you need to make the model a little more realistic with dirt and cracks on the concrete. Maybe having some favorites that are set up with the correct png
Great suggestion! The only downside I can think of would be that they'll continue to face the camera when you rebuild. If you want a flat image that doesn't move, I recommend using the Painting Object. The functionality is the same, but it doesn't re-orientate (with the painting object, you can turn off the frame so it does just become a floating object). That tackling that drawback, I really like the idea of using PNGs for more realism like you suggest.
Sadly no. AFAIK in the 3D window the shadows are always just the outlines of the rectangles, which is disappointing. If you use the image objects in a rendering, their shadows will be correct. You can also turn off their shadow casting ability to at least not see the rectangle shadow.
Unfortunately the default objects only show a square shadow in the 3D window. However they do render with proper shadows. I did see recently a GDL developer share images of an improved tree object that does display shadows in the 3D window correctly. It's not released yet, but here's a link to a sneak peek: www.linkedin.com/posts/airc-world-llp_billboard-tool-sketch-people-aircdigital-activity-6946063889163821056-mjua
Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed the video.
Glad to see you back posting daily dude!! great content as always
One more next week, then I'm on vacation for awhile. I'm hoping to do 1 to 4 a month once I'm back home later this summer. We'll see how that goes!
@@Shoegnome That would always be great

👍🏻
Is that stick figure going to be part of your next template release? We need answers!
Maybe. It's probably time for some more Easter eggs in the template.
Can you trim the image to make the shadows more realistic? I do this in SketchUp all the time.

thank you so much ..but ( hide model contours) does not appear in options ..How can I activate it?
You need to use Archicad 25 Update 2 (or newer). Older versions of Archicad won't have the option, unfortunately.
Hi nice tutorial! But how can I get these png tree clip's shadows to get right? Cause they are all square

@@Shoegnome Cool! Thank you for your reply!😃
Of course! Glad you liked the video.
Are you aware that the object is throwing a square/rectangular shadow's ??
Yes. It's frustrating. The shadows look correct when rendered, but this is a limitation for the 3D window. Still better than other options.
Thanks!
❤️❤️❤️
Thanks!
