      Why not recombine them into Carolina. It'd be stronger militarily than California, have a smaller land area to defend, and a higher GDP in total. As NC had 1/4th the GDP of Cali years ago without 1/4th the population and not sure what South Carolina's is off the top of my head.

    I literally live on the NC/SC line . I'm technically in SC but my neighbor is in NC..I moved from NY in my late 20's..been here 17 years so I know a thing or 2 about both states..I am also a honest person..so here it goes..in SC the state is poorly run..roads are horrible and the traffic in Greenville along the 85 corridor is a living nightmare..it's been under construction for years and it's getting worse..the COL in SC is cheaper but they pay POORLY..the school system is horrendous in SC...SC has alot of rural areas and let me be frank they are very hateful toward those from other states..so to be honest in SC u can throw the " southern hospitality" out the window..if ur single like me be ready for a bumpy ride.. ..the weather in SC is crazy.. tornadoes are often and most homes don't have basements or storm shelters.. allergies are aweful..very hot in the summer..now for NC.. COMPLETELY OPPOSITE...like 2 different worlds..NC may be a tad more expensive but it's well worth it..the people in NC are by far are more kind and have a totally different mindset then SC..there is always something fun to do..the school systems are much better and so is the pay..as well as the roads..the government in NC cares about their ppl..the mountains are beautiful I live surrounded by them...they don't have nearly the bad storms..so if i could do it again..I would not have moved to SC..that's for sure...

    Georgia boy here. Although I’ve never lived in the Carolinas, they are both great places to visit. However, I have a little more preference for North Carolina just because I prefer the mountain scenery of NC over the low country of South Carolina. Sure, South Carolina’s coast is the crown jewel of that state. In fact, I like Myrtle Beach better than a lot of the beaches in Florida. However, parts of western North Carolina are simply jaw-dropping.

    This is a well informative video. I will definitely share it with people who want to move back South from the Northern States. It seems to be that we are experiencing the Great Migration. The more the cost of living and home buying are becoming even more expensive in the Nothern States. People are choosing to move South for better home buying opportunities. The Carolinas are great places to relax and enjoy life. I personally feel that the southern states have more of a family oriented committed. Each state shares an admiration for one another. In 1712 Nouth Carolina & South Carolina was officially divided. South Carolina is a Vacationer Paradise. Your comments on demographic statistics was on point. Winston comments also refreshing.

    Charlston is a really interesting city with great history, but overall… I don’t think it’s that close. North Carolina has a really strong job market. If you’re in the Charlotte area… Banking is huge and if you’re in the triangle area you have tons of tech jobs and medical jobs. It’s growing really fast but they do a reasonably good job keeping up with the infrastructure. I definitely prefer North Carolina over South Carolina. And if you need a tiebreaker… Potholes

    • @LivinginRaleighTV
      @LivinginRaleighTV  3 роки тому +3

      NC definitely wins for jobs especially in those fields. But you'll find opportunity in both states. Property is typically a little less in SC, but outside of the major cities you can find property in both states for a reasonable price. We also have equestrian communities in the Raleigh area and other areas as well, which are a good option for horses. For example, check out Portofino in Clayton (Raleigh area), we recently sold a home in there.

      The Triangle (Raleigh/Durham) would be ideal. Technology jobs are in abundance in the triangle. Do your own research about all of the different technology companies that have operations here. There are dozens and there is no way I can list them all here. Your wife should not have much trouble finding a job as a nurse here in the triangle. Medicine is another huge business here partly because of Duke and UNC which both have highly ranked hospitals and medical services in the area. Also, there is Rex Hospital in Raleigh and Wakemed as well. It is a great medical job market. There are plenty of people who own horses in the triangle and keep them at stables in the surrounding small towns and country. I had one coworker that had horses and had them staying in at least two different places (they were moved) and she didn't seem to have much trouble finding a good place for them and also good veterinarians and farriers, etc which are necessary. However, you mentioned wanting to keep the horses on your own property. Again, that shouldn't be too much of a problem as there is plenty of land available for sale in the surrounding countryside outside the cities and suburbs. Honestly, the Triangle sounds like a match made in heaven for your situation. Almost ideal.

      @Sting Ray well my family tree is sorta a mixed bag, my great great grandfather and his brother came over through New York my great great grandfather came south and married a full blooded Cherokee native American and my great great uncle stayed and settled in Harlem and married a African American women named Violet who I actually named one of my daughters after my mother's side of the family I don't know as much about but i do know that they were of Scottish descent. But when we have the big family reunions I tell you it's lit we have good time!

    My wife and I are looking to move to NC and I'm wanting to get my real estate license but I want to be an agent or realtor not a broker but every school I look up talks about broker license not agent or realtor license... Are you able to give me some recommendations of schools to look up that specifically do realtor or do they all do broker?

    • @LivinginRaleighTV
      @LivinginRaleighTV  2 роки тому

      These 3 names are used interchangeably to mean the same thing. You get your license to become a real estate broker. Once you get the license you are become a RE broker/RE agent. To be a Realtor, you have to join the national association of Realtors after getting your license and you do this by paying money but it’s not a separate license. Hope that helps.

    Love your channel recent subscriber, (thank the UA-cam algorithm) and appreciate what you are doing to bring native insight for the Raleigh metro area!
    Having spent considerable time in both states this particular one is hilarious and it's understandable that you can't compare the two while keeping a straight face. The comparison is not even close.
    Just for the sake of space here, just the GDP comparison for example, it surely doesn't take a math major to know that, when the GDP of one state is lower as it is SC then inevitably your percentage rate is higher than (NC) who's GDP is at over twice that of SC.
    When this statistic was taken both states were growing at roughly the exact same rate in actual $, except NC's GDP is $566 billion, while SC is less than half that of NC at $248 billion which = higher percentage on a much lower number, but not more actual growth.
    It should be mentioned that these statistics would be affected by HB2 when growth slowed considerably due to big business temporarily avoiding NC. With that now past now, big business is back and clamoring to be in NC. You can bet that NC is not at 1.6% currently.
    In my humble opinion, and from a relatively unbiased perspective North Carolina is twice the state SC is. Sorry for SC residents, but it is what it is.
    Great video though!

      For 2021 the Gross State Product (GSP) in North Carolina is forecast to reach $6155,833.0 million, a real (inflation adjusted) increase of 4.6% over the 2020 level.
      The quarterly GSP is expected to increase each quarter of 2021, starting with a 5.9% annualized real rate increase in the first quarter. So yeah, North Carolina is on a roll!
      There are multiple rumored HQ moves on the horizon for North Carolina, including Wells Fargo to Charlotte. Huge!!! John Boyd Jr., principal at The Boyd Co. said:
      “It would almost be malfeasance if Wells Fargo executives did not consider leaving California, Boyd told the San Francisco Business Times, and Charlotte makes the most sense for them.
      “Charlotte makes a lot of sense,” Boyd said. “North Carolina is on a roll, with Charlotte being one of the most successful banking markets today.”
      Boyd cited Charlotte’s lower‐tax environment, business‐friendly climate and international air connections as factors making the nation’s second‐largest banking center an attractive option.
      This, and too many other rumors to mention bode very well for NC, not to mention an already hotter than hot Triangle, who has had there own boon of announcements for late, with all the big boys wanting a piece of the RTP tech extravaganza.

    Im right on the border of SC and NC, and the schools + roads are SO much nicer in SC. Once you get over the border, you can tell because the ride becomes so much smoother. The schools are really nice (atleast in Lake Wylie) and wayy better looking than the ones in NC. I would say both are pretty good on hospitality, but in my opinion NC is nicer. Both states are so alike but so different

    I moved from PA (originally from DC tho - and my roots are in SC because my mom was born there) My time growing up in DC in the 60s and 70s, DC was heavily influenced by the south because of the migration back then. Another reason I chose SC is because of the southern feel I get from being there. They're much more friendly than NC. Whenever I visited NC, I found too many rude people there - due to their migrations from NJ, NY and other northern states. I found this to be especially in Charlotte. I think when it comes to hospitality and niceness, SC wins.

    Ok the video was great up until you failed to mention in South Carolina (economy) we have the headquarters of a major automotive company here. That being the US headquarters of BMW in Spartanburg County, SC. Loads of jobs in the automotive industry. But one huge pro for North Carolina is Andy Griffith and Mayberry!! Also Randy Travis and Charlie Daniels is from North Carolina. Also former Game show host (Wheel Of Fortune) Viana White is from North Myrtle Beach,SC. And a huge portion of the movie "Forrest Gump" was filmed in the low country of SC. My personal choice is Clemson Football Tigers not Carolina. And love the Carolina Panthers!! Exactly! SC has a great economy, considering what it has been through and the economy is ever growing. I was able to move from PA where I'd lived for 10 years working in state government - moved to SC in January 2020 and landed a state job making the same amount I was making in PA. Go figure! Especially with me paying half in housing in Columbia, SC than I paid in Harrisburg, PA.

    BRING UP THE ROADS!! You can actually often tell the difference when you cross the border. North Carolina has far better cared-for roads, which factors into your decision because of wear and tear on your vehicles. However, North Carolina is TERRIBLE at planning for future growth, which translates into a worse transportation infrastructure, which results in ridiculous commute times, especially near larger cities like Charlotte and Raleigh. South Carolina’s slower growth makes that situation better, though constant interstate construction near Greenville negates that a bit.
    Also, the BEST place to move to by far in both states is Fort Mill, SC. Great commute to Charlotte, AWESOME schools and such a beautiful place. However, you PAY for that privilege, and real estate will NEVER relax in Fort Mill, so finding a place to live can be tricky.
