      Why not recombine them into Carolina. It'd be stronger militarily than California, have a smaller land area to defend, and a higher GDP in total. As NC had 1/4th the GDP of Cali years ago without 1/4th the population and not sure what South Carolina's is off the top of my head.

    I literally live on the NC/SC line . I'm technically in SC but my neighbor is in NC..I moved from NY in my late 20's..been here 17 years so I know a thing or 2 about both states..I am also a honest person..so here it goes..in SC the state is poorly run..roads are horrible and the traffic in Greenville along the 85 corridor is a living nightmare..it's been under construction for years and it's getting worse..the COL in SC is cheaper but they pay POORLY..the school system is horrendous in SC...SC has alot of rural areas and let me be frank they are very hateful toward those from other states..so to be honest in SC u can throw the " southern hospitality" out the window..if ur single like me be ready for a bumpy ride.. ..the weather in SC is crazy.. tornadoes are often and most homes don't have basements or storm shelters.. allergies are aweful..very hot in the summer..now for NC.. COMPLETELY OPPOSITE...like 2 different worlds..NC may be a tad more expensive but it's well worth it..the people in NC are by far are more kind and have a totally different mindset then SC..there is always something fun to do..the school systems are much better and so is the pay..as well as the roads..the government in NC cares about their ppl..the mountains are beautiful I live surrounded by them...they don't have nearly the bad storms..so if i could do it again..I would not have moved to SC..that's for sure...

    Georgia boy here. Although I’ve never lived in the Carolinas, they are both great places to visit. However, I have a little more preference for North Carolina just because I prefer the mountain scenery of NC over the low country of South Carolina. Sure, South Carolina’s coast is the crown jewel of that state. In fact, I like Myrtle Beach better than a lot of the beaches in Florida. However, parts of western North Carolina are simply jaw-dropping.

    Charlston is a really interesting city with great history, but overall… I don’t think it’s that close. North Carolina has a really strong job market. If you’re in the Charlotte area… Banking is huge and if you’re in the triangle area you have tons of tech jobs and medical jobs. It’s growing really fast but they do a reasonably good job keeping up with the infrastructure. I definitely prefer North Carolina over South Carolina. And if you need a tiebreaker… Potholes

    I moved from PA (originally from DC tho - and my roots are in SC because my mom was born there) My time growing up in DC in the 60s and 70s, DC was heavily influenced by the south because of the migration back then. Another reason I chose SC is because of the southern feel I get from being there. They're much more friendly than NC. Whenever I visited NC, I found too many rude people there - due to their migrations from NJ, NY and other northern states. I found this to be especially in Charlotte. I think when it comes to hospitality and niceness, SC wins.

    This is a well informative video. I will definitely share it with people who want to move back South from the Northern States. It seems to be that we are experiencing the Great Migration. The more the cost of living and home buying are becoming even more expensive in the Nothern States. People are choosing to move South for better home buying opportunities. The Carolinas are great places to relax and enjoy life. I personally feel that the southern states have more of a family oriented committed. Each state shares an admiration for one another. In 1712 Nouth Carolina & South Carolina was officially divided. South Carolina is a Vacationer Paradise. Your comments on demographic statistics was on point. Winston comments also refreshing.

    BRING UP THE ROADS!! You can actually often tell the difference when you cross the border. North Carolina has far better cared-for roads, which factors into your decision because of wear and tear on your vehicles. However, North Carolina is TERRIBLE at planning for future growth, which translates into a worse transportation infrastructure, which results in ridiculous commute times, especially near larger cities like Charlotte and Raleigh. South Carolina’s slower growth makes that situation better, though constant interstate construction near Greenville negates that a bit.
    Also, the BEST place to move to by far in both states is Fort Mill, SC. Great commute to Charlotte, AWESOME schools and such a beautiful place. However, you PAY for that privilege, and real estate will NEVER relax in Fort Mill, so finding a place to live can be tricky.

We don't work directly in those areas, but we would imagine the market is going strong. Sometimes when a home sits on the market, it is overpriced or in need or repairs. We know a good agent that works that area. Email us if you need help finding a home there.

    • @LivinginRaleighTV
      @LivinginRaleighTV  3 роки тому +3

      Those numbers are fastest growing, not largest. NC is the 19th fastest growing economy and SC is the 10th fastest. Growth rate of SC is slightly faster at 2.6% compared to NC at 1.6%. NC has a much higher GDP, but SC is growing slightly faster percentage-wise.

    • @davidkaseykelly707
      @davidkaseykelly707 3 роки тому +4

      Not even close. Doesn't take a math major here, when your gp is low as SC is then inevitably your percentage rate is higher than NC who's GDP is at least twice that of SC.

    • @davidkaseykelly707
      @davidkaseykelly707 3 роки тому +4

      Each state is growing at roughly the exact same rate in actual dollars, except NC's GDP is $566,000,000,000.00, while SC is less than half that at $248,000,000,000 which = higher percentage on a much lower number, but not more actual growth.
      +it demands mentioning that this statistic was taken during the HB2 era when growth slowed considerably due to new business temporarily avoiding NC. That is all in the past now, and things have sure changed as all the new job announcements of 2021 have shown. You can bet that NC is not at 1.6% currently.

    • @LivinginRaleighTV

      NC definitely wins for jobs especially in those fields. But you'll find opportunity in both states. Property is typically a little less in SC, but outside of the major cities you can find property in both states for a reasonable price. We also have equestrian communities in the Raleigh area and other areas as well, which are a good option for horses. For example, check out Portofino in Clayton (Raleigh area), we recently sold a home in there.

Are you able to give me some recommendations of schools to look up that specifically do realtor or do they all do broker?

    • @LivinginRaleighTV

      These 3 names are used interchangeably to mean the same thing. You get your license to become a real estate broker. Once you get the license you are become a RE broker/RE agent. To be a Realtor, you have to join the national association of Realtors after getting your license and you do this by paying money but it’s not a separate license. Hope that helps.

Also Randy Travis and Charlie Daniels is from North Carolina. Also former Game show host (Wheel Of Fortune) Viana White is from North Myrtle Beach,SC. And a huge portion of the movie "Forrest Gump" was filmed in the low country of SC. My personal choice is Clemson Football Tigers not Carolina. And love the Carolina Panthers!! I was able to move from PA where I'd lived for 10 years working in state government - moved to SC in January 2020 and landed a state job making the same amount I was making in PA. Go figure! Especially with me paying half in housing in Columbia, SC than I paid in Harrisburg, PA.

    I grew up in Charlotte but have lived in SC for the last 23 years. I normally discount anything than any UNC-CH person says (NC State Engineering graduate here), but you made a pretty good effort to be fair, so I'll give you a few reasons that I prefer South Carolina.
    1) The cities can't gobble up the suburbs/exurbs without the permission of each individual land owner. If a NC city wants to annex your land, you don't have much to say about it.
    2) South Carolina stays out of debt. SC roads are pay as you go, while NC issues bonds for road projects. That helps NC short term, but increases costs of roads long term. NC used to have great roads, but that has declined in recent years.
    3) Yankees and liberal whackos have completely taken over the major cities. Taxes in NC cities are way higher in taxes than in SC cities.
    4) Traffic is insane in the cities, especially Charlotte and Raleigh/Durham. The only serious traffic problems in SC are around Charleston (building roads over water and marshes is difficult).
    5) There are actually good manufacturing jobs in SC that you don't have to have Computer Degrees to get. BMW in Greenville/Spartanburg and Boeing in North Charleston are the best examples.
    6) Education in most of SC is not as bad as its ranking. The biggest problem are the rural areas between Florence, Columbia and Charleston, where a high number of poor people live.
    7) SC, especially the upstate area is a wonderful shade of dark red (my personal preference).
    8) Finally, the University of South Carolina mascot is the Gamecocks. These aren't you basic farm chickens that are raised all over NC (I think NC still has more chickens than people). Gamecocks are outfitted with metal gaffs on the back of their legs just above the feet and are bred to fight. Look closely at the Carolina logo and you can see them. If a gamecock got a hold on that blue horned ram you like so much, those gaffs would slice up that ram in many very tender places on the glorified goat, which would send it running for the Old Well where it would collapse and bleed to death.

      The Cities not being able to annex property. Which is a good thing, is the prime reason the cities populations are so drastic. between the SC and NC. For instance, Greenville SC shows a population of 74,207 (2021) whereas the metro population is 540,000 (2021) and the Greenville, Spartanburg, Anderson Area population is 1,487,610 (2020)

    • @RandaWise
      @RandaWise 2 роки тому +1

      OMG!!! I sooooo agree with everything you said. I think SC has been misunderstood and discounted for so long. There are so many positive things going on down here - that's why I chose SC over NC. And the people are friendlier. Charlotte is a hot mess --- too many northerners taking over, bringing their BS rules and attitudes to the south. I grew up in DC, when that town was more heavily influenced by the southerners who migrated there between the 1920s and 1950s. I moved to Columbia, SC in 2020 after living in that hellhole Harrisburg, PA for 10 years, and the friendliness is contagious down here. I never subscribed to the attitudes of Pennsylvania folks, and I'm glad I did not.
      But I work for SC Dept of Ed, and they are doing so much to make our schools here better. Nobody sees the actions behind the scenes of what educators and state administrators are doing in this beautiful state, but soon people will begin to see.
