Hello. I recently got an 89 fox body. It has the 130 amp upgrade but its not changing. I went through the wiring and noticed that orange/black wire was cut like you did BUT the starter solenoid was also removed. It has a high torque mini starter and a relay to get power to the starter. So where should the black/orange go now? On the Alternator it had the green coming out into the harness, the yellow bridge to the positive post on the Alternator and the white plugged with the grey plug. When it was like that the amp lamp was on on the dash. When i took the yellow wire and wired it back up to the yellow in the stock harness it went off

Hello eddy..good video. I did the same exact thing you did hear accept it's not holding charge. Its goes up in volts if I raise the RPMs but will not stay drops down to 8 volts. Can you explain the yellow wire at the solenoid, mine is the same thing you showed in thei our video ( not cut ). Any help would be wonderful. Thank you and stay safe.

Basically that yellow wire has to go to a source of full-time power the best bet is the starter relay where the two fusible links are there is also a diode in that wiring mess buy the starter relay that I believe is ignition power. Diodes are funny things when they're acting up so you might want to check that. Personally I think you may have a defective alternator. Good luck

Ok.. I thought that green wire ( with the fusible links) turns into the black/orange wire heading back to the alternator. Mine is still connected to the solenoid so shouldn't the yellow also be connected? Is your working fine?and do you think a older belt might be a little stretched? Also stock pulley is ok?

If alternator is overheating (black/orange wire)could it be alternator is bad or you think I need to put alternator on positive side of solenoid? I also have another wire going into relay that is positive? That’s where I’m confused

Hi. Great video. I just got a car with the same alternator. Similar set up to yours. My battery light in the cluster is always on. Even no with no key in ignition. When I start it the light goes away like normal. Can’t find the issue. Car also is wire tucked. Any advice.

Check the diode that is located over by the starter solinoid maybe when it got wire tucked it got screwed

The circuit breaker attached to the solenoid, able to email a picture of where the wire goes?

One end goes to the hot on the alternator the other end of the circuit breaker connects to the battery lug on the starter solenoid

Is there supposed to be a ground going to the back of the alternator?

I think it's just grounded to the block through the bolts
