  • tr.ee/T7sSZnpw9z Thank you for watching our ear wax removal video today. The ear wax extraction featured in todays video was carried out using endoscopic microsuction. This procedure uses a small camera called an endoscope to visualise inside the ear canal whilst a small suction tube is inserted to gently remove ear wax.
    We can also use other tools to remove hard ear wax, foreign bodies, peeling dead skin or for ear infection removal.
    All the ear wax cleaning videos you see on our channel are carried out by our ear wax specialists Mr Rhys Barber and Mr Taylor Green.
    We post new ear cleaning videos Monday - Friday at 9PM GMT so if you find ear wax removal satisfying please consider subscribing to our channel.
    Ear wax plays a vital role in ear health. It helps to prevent ear infection and helps with ear cleaning by picking up any dirt or debris that accumulates in the ear canal. Normally this ear wax would fall out of the ear taking any dirt or debris with it.
    How to remove ear wax?
    Many people use q-tips/cotton buds for ear wax removal at home this is one of the worst things you can put into the ear as this can lead to an increased ear wax buildup or in extreme cases impacted ear wax. The best way to remove ear wax is to let your ears clean themselves and not to put anything smaller than your elbow in your ears!
    How do I know if I have an earwax blockage?
    If you experience a change in your hearing, discomfort in the ear or jaw or a feeling of fullness in the ear canal you may have an ear wax blockage. Our advice is to speak to your Doctor or local Audiologist who can take a look in your ears and assess whether ear cleaning is needed.

    This is in response to a comment. I am now a retired teacher. I had a good audiologist who sold the practice. When I went again, I was asked if I needed new hearing aids, I said that I did not know. I was denied an appointment and was told to return when I needed new ones. I soldiered on. When I moved, I went to a new audiologist who told me that I was wearing “antiques” that could not even be fixed. When I got my new ones, I started to cry right in the office. I could hear people talking on the other side of the door and a million new sounds. I entered a new world. The only “plus” was that by then, I had become a pretty good lip reader. Man oh man, I had to rely solely on my aids when everyone was wearing masks due to Covid. I know that YOU would never have turned someone away!! I am sure!

    When I first began seeing the medical oriented UA-cam videos on UA-cam. Most were pimple poppers which absolutely nauseated me! I am a nurse who had worked in ENT for a few years and became very interested in what you do. I had decided I would return to school and train to be an audiologist . The more I watched Rhys and Taylor , the more mesmerized I became with the procedures. I decided that I would remain with my nursing carreer ..but I have become totally addicted to watching wax removal channels. . I watch most of them but the Audiology Assoc videos are the best. Conor posted a video a while back of a tool called the EarWay Pro - it's a hollow plastic spiral, designed to be used by ear care professionals to remove wax. This struck me as being pretty much its ideal use case: very full, soft enough to get the tool in and sticky enough not to crumble when you pull it out. I know Conor likes to try every shiny new toy he can (so adorable!) and they often turn out to be more novel than useful, but I'd be curious to see your thoughts on this one.

    • @airedale1913

      I guess a combination of genetics (and possibly hormones?) causing him to produce a lot of wax, and the specific shape/anatomy of his ear canals making it harder for it to leave. This is an enormous amount though, that poor kid.

    • @iantinsley4854
      @iantinsley4854 Рік тому +7

      When I was a child of about 10 I had problems with my hearing, when I went to the hospital ENT to be checked the amount of wax in my ears amazed me, when the doctor looked into them with his various devices they came out caked in wax and he used a metal rod to "spear" chunks of wax, this was in the 1970's. Eventually after a couple of years of having operations, having to sit over a bowl of boiling water with a towel over my head so the steam helped clear my passages, I was cured.
      The amount of wax I produced during these years was enormous, and the doctors said that everyone produces different amounts of wax, it's probably the same for the person in the video, his body just produces excess wax.

    I have always had earwax problems since childhood and people severely underestimate how uncomfortable and painful it becomes when it gets so blocked up. I ended up having to go to the ER one night because I was in so much pain from the buildup. My mom bought me an otoscope after that and it has made all the difference being able to keep my ears clean and never let this buildup happen again. The difference in what I can hear is astounding. I highly recommend them to anyone who has had wax issues. As always if you get one be smart with it but they are amazing tools to have at home.

      @@Michael-sb8jfto be fair, as much as we shouldn’t assume, that is actually a point. I had really bad wax in both ears when I first started at uni. Went to my GP and he asked about headphones, I said no more than usual, but what had changed was the fact I was wearing earplugs every night due to how noisy the dorm was. Got it sorted and had no problems since leaving. Anything in the ear for long periods is going to cause issues, but makes me wonder if over-ear headphones are better than in-ear ones?

    • @RogueBoyScout
      @RogueBoyScout 7 місяців тому

      @@charliefen I know I am 6 months late, but being someone who uses his music players like a life support machine (autism) a couple of years ago I switched from in ear phones to over the ear headphones.
      I found the difference in ear cleanliness to be a world of difference! Not so much as less build up, as more easier to clean so there is less wax build up. (Don't use buds, use syringe and also peroxides.)
      I think allowing you ear canal to have access to the outside air just allows for the ears natural cleaning process to go unheeded...
      On another note, the bonus is if you are into sound quality, I tend to find the music has more range and depth, and also doesn't cause my eardrum to get irritated by the sonic decibal air pressure. this is an unqualified opinion of course...
      But I speak from using ear buds for about 25+ years, to now 2+ years with headphones..
      (Edit: oh yeah, no yucky wax gunk on your electronics either LOL).

    Hi fascinating video and love the rapport! I have a question I’ve been sitting on for years while I watch these videos.
    As I understand it - wax oxidizes as it ages- but when you get a full ear canal the wax deepest in the ear is the darkest normally. If it builds gradually over time, why isn’t the wax closest to the entrance the darkest or to think of it another way why does the wax not move forward? And if it doesn’t move forward why isn’t the middle of a wax plug universally the darkest as the oldest material? I hope that makes sense it’s been going round in my head for a long time!! Thanks again for the great videos

    Found this video because I was trying to see if those metal spiral ear tools are safe but seeing how packed it can be and how fragile the eardrum is I’m going to try to see my doctor (since I’m already having ear pain)

    you were literally pushing it back in there this made my anxiety go up so much. bc I felt like you were just playing with it, my friend had bad ear wax and it was hard I got it out in one swoop.

    If these ears weren’t attached to a live person a bit of dynamite would have been just the thing to break this up. Poor lad it’s amazing he could hear at all.

    This might be a silly question, but do you give the patient any kind of anaesthetic for the procedure? I have a major fear of anyone looking in my ears or touching them due to ear problems as a child and the local doctor inspecting them and inserting tweezers to pull out some wax. I can still remember jumping as he touched inside the ear canal and that was over 45 years ago and no one's looked in them since.
