It was already nominated for best R&B album along with Musiq & Ledisi. Unfortunately a lot of people thought Bruno was better and he beat them out.

It's like he said, if he was talking about how much money he had, cars, being at the club with the ladies poppin bottles etc....you would hear this album everywhere! But since he's actually singing about love and positive things you have to watch here to hear it. Black executives that are ran by white bosses will tell you there's no market for this, cuz I went thru the exact same thing, only with Quincy Jones! Chris Patton Right. This man is straight from the church. His father is Bishop Paul Morton. I love that he is unwavering in his commitment to create on his terms. He won't let the church put him in box and neither will he allow the mainstream music industry to alter his musicianship or his personal style. He's a real musical talent, and we're so blessed because he chooses his creativity over other people's expectations.

PJ has already made it in my opinion. He's a professional musician at the top level of the industry. Just because his name isn't as famous as the groups he's played with doesn't mean he isn't incredibly successful. Most aspiring musicians would trade an arm and a leg for his status. Success shouldn't be defined by celebrity. That being said I agree more people should listen to his music.
Over exposure can kill the music. True musicians are already "having their time in the sun" if they are making their own music. We need to think twice about equating ridiculously busy and/or rich and/or over exposed with success and happiness. Is anyone old enough to remember Christopher Cross? Anyone? Yah.

I mean, although I dig H.E.R. this perfect one-take live version of Gumbo should've won the Grammy. Who orchestrates their albums anymore? It's a lost art. Glad he won for the duet with Yebba, but this as a whole is brilliance at its best. Love him!

You appreciate music that you can enjoy from Start to finish. What Pj did on this live version showed color, variety, and show the best musicianship since Stevie Wonder. I’m not saying people don’t have good music but this was MUSIC! I haven’t heard something like this in a long time! Thank you PJ!

PJ Morton I discovered you on Terrell's show and I honestly just discovered him. I was glued to my desktop your entire Gumbo concert. I was supposed to be working, but I stopped so many times. Your show was absolutely transformational! I felt like I was in a very loving place surrounded by all good people, forgetting that I am in this COVID-19 lockdown. I'm in NYC where it's real crazy; I only go out for groceries, I am so lifted after listening to this video. I'm a huge fan of live music and I've never really made the commitment to sing. I do a show here and there, and all my friends get mad at me for not continuing because they feel good when I sing, but after today, I'm all the way committed. Imma start doing vocal exercises and dust off my piano and start learning chords again. Your show felt so good and I want to make other people feel the same way. Thank you for your graciousness and humbleness. And most importantly, thank you for sharing. Love you!
