While I would agree that polyomino games are all over the place, I think it's pushing it to say there are too many Alice in Wonderland games. Maybe that's true for someone who plays hundreds of games every year, but to the rest of us, even those of us with 200ish games, it's probably not a theme we have in our collections or have even seen much. I have exactly zero Alice in Wonderland games and I have played exactly zero Alice in Wonderland games. Meanwhile here are the game themes that I have more than ten of: End of Humanity Trains Ancient Empires on the Mediterranean Medieval Outer Space Royalty Island-named City-named Heck, I have ten games with the word Pandemic in the title! Alice in Wonderland will be a breath of fresh air until we get Pandemic: Wonderland or the Settlers of Wonder-tan. Then you can call it.
You forgot Zombies and Cthulu. :) Seriously, though - I love Zee's reviews, but I think he and some other reviewers who have complained about there being "so many" Alice games need to reconsider why it bothers them so much. This is kind of like complaining about quilting games or nature games - it's a tiny fraction of games overall, and - yeah - may be a bit more appealing to many gamers who are also girls.
I don't have any polynomials. I don't have any Alice games. I like Alice especially the newer Johnny Depp ones so you sold me on this. So, thank you Zee. As always an excellent video. Note: When you guys do a top 10 I also always look forward to what games you're going to come up with. 👍👍
I'm pretty new to the hobby and don't have any tile laying games at all and I've recently been looking into them. I think this looks really compelling! Anyone know where to buy? I can't seem to find anything
Welcome to the hobby! Many people would likely recommend Carcassone, but I'd recommend Isle of Skye as a better game with tile-buying for multiple players. For an intro tile-laying game, check out Patchwork by Uwe Rosenberg. Patchwork is two-player and will give you a pure taste of the genre. A similar "tile-like" game is Azul. You can check prices on Amazon, buying through Coolstuff Inc. is a good choice, or any regional game store with online options (like Game Kastle). Your local game store (FLGS) can also help. Good luck!
It’s most likely not out yet. If I may make a suggestion on tile laying, I would recommend you try the following; - Castles of Mad King Ludwig - Realm of Sand - Carcassonne - Terraforming Mars - Castles of Burgundy - Teotihuacan: City of Gods - Galaxy Trucker
I have found often the Dice Tower gets review copies before the general release of a game. A resource to look into is to see what the site boardgamegeek.com has about the game - often the forums on a specific game (you can search) will have updates about release dates, or you can ask others where they were able to find it. Another option is coolstuffinc, which is both a common sponsor of the Dice Tower but also I have found it to be a good boardgame online store with fair prices (for the US).
I tend to like lighter games than the average gamer. Here are a couple of tile-laying games I like (besides some which were already mentioned): - Calico - Sheep & Thief - Between Two Cities - The Little Prince: Make Me a Planet - Alhambra
Indian Summer and Spring Meadow are a couple more tile laying games by Uwe Rosenberg that are 2 of my favorites. They are larger in scale and the tile drafting and scoring are very different from each other. Very nice looking and well-produced, also. I'm a sucker for tile laying games. :)
Chosen tiles can be put in any way you want, as long as there is enough space. There are only two limitations: - tiles can not cover previously placed tiles, even partially; - tiles can not go over the edge of the board.
Depends on the definition of "good," and there's definitely been an uptick in the last five years. However, there really can't be more than about half a dozen in print at one time. In fact, right now I get six (Parade, Hats, Alice's Garden, Tea for 2, Paint the Roses, Wonderland's War), plus two more if you feel like including the Funkoverse and Unmatched sets that include Alice. But in Hats, the theme barely applies, and Alice's Garden is just a step up from that, so saying there are "eight Alice in Wonderland games in print" would be VERY generous indeed.
Note: this game was impossible to get in the U.S. when Zee reviewed it, but it got picked up this year - I just bought it for $20 at Target.
I lucked out and just found it unopened at Goodwill for $3

Zee has gone mad
What we really need is more chthulu games.

Does the chosen piece have to be put at the bottom?
For example my first shape, can I put it in the two upper rows?

@@lifestyleboardgames4014 Thank you
Tired of alice in wonderland games? How many good ones are actually in print though? I rarely see them on the shelf.
I had a salad with turkey and ham for lunch today.

So much more interesting than patchwork. But will this game ever be available to everyone?
2:01 why is censored?
take 1 piece?
Did this ever come to the US?
This one can play solo. Is Mike going to review it that way, pretty please?
I'm reviewing this game in the next few days - I'll talk about the solo game at the time! :-)

Tertis Style Game 😆 🤣 😂
Yes scoring points in the game is cool 😎
Awesome video
Games are not just for jaded geeks.
If you're personally tired of it, that's totally fine. Move on to the next thousand games.
Felix Fryxell Nah, when a game is so generic and unoriginal is totally fine to call it out :)
