      Dances of groups of couples, especially English longways country dance ( contra dance)
      we’re most popular in W Europe, NE Europe, N & S America You Tube has many performances videos, No? instructional.
      2)!later, dances of independent couples, like polka, that legitimized waltz, which was introduced in 1809 20, but only some dared to do what some called risqué & vulgar (same criticism vs. every new dance over centuries.)
      So, between 1809 &!about1829 30?!Western social dances underwent Revolution of indeoendent couple dances.

      pre choreographed whole dance per each song,

      & 2 French quadrille square dances were still popular to snout 1900. These groups of couple dances were often done in same
      dance party event + independent coule dances.
      In fact, some quadrille squares
      & country dances had music composed so that people did 1 or several independent couple dances steps in country dances ‘
      & quadrille squares as 1 or more basic steps. ( Interesting but challenging!)

      Indeoendent couple dances usually travelled counter clockwise to the left in an oval +
      straight sides, like race tracks or some sports fields.
      Couples travelled in the oval, not like modern small turns or stationary positions.
