    I like how detailed you always are in your videos. In this video I knew most of it already, but I have definitely learned new things because of your detailed descriptions.

    Thanks so much for this video! My baby is due any day now, we have prefolds and flats to use with wool diaper covers. This was so helpful 😊

    Great videos. I was afraid of pre-folds and wool with my oldest. We recently started using wool and now I think I'm going to prepare to do wool and pre-folds with this pregnancy.

    Do you add some sort of booster to the prefold for more absorbency or so you find that the prefold is absorbent enough on its own?

    • @ECpeesy
      @ECpeesy  3 роки тому +2

      I've never added boosters to prefolds. Some people might if they are going a long time between changes at night. I change the diaper with each wake-up at night.

    I’ve been jelly rolling prefolds and using them with wool covers on my newborn for the past three weeks. I try to jelly roll as you showed in this video. Every time she poops, the poop gets on the cover and I have to clean it. Every single time. And often, it’s a lot of poop not just a little spot. What am I doing wrong? I really want to stick with cotton prefolds and wool covers but I’m not sure if I can keep managing this. 😞

    • @ECpeesy
      @ECpeesy  2 роки тому

      I'm sorry that's happening. Are you using a fastener, such as a Snappi, to secure the prefold? What type of wool cover are you using? I've had the best luck with wool wrap covers with snaps, such as the Babeegreens classic side snapping wool cover. Newborns can poop with such force that it's hard to contain!

    Do you dry your prefolds on high heat? Im trying to figure out why mine won't quilt up as much as yours, i do line dry im wondering if i dry them in the dryer instead if that will do the trick ? I only dried in the dryer the 1st. Couple of times during the prepping process

    • @ECpeesy
      @ECpeesy  3 роки тому +1

      I dry prefolds in the dryer on regular/medium heat. They didn't quily up all the way when I prepped them. But as I used them on my baby and washed and dried every day they shrunk and quilted more. Line drying is fine too, once they are prepped.

      @@ECpeesy if I don’t have a dryer does it mean my prefolds will never prep?

    • @ECpeesy
      @ECpeesy  3 роки тому

      @@mapachemaldito They should prep in the sense of removing the natural oils that repel water. But they might not fluff/quilt up as much. They would probably still absorb fine. The bleached versions require less prepping, so those would be a good choice without a dryer.

    Is a prefold pretty trim under a hand knitted wool soaker? I was going to make diapers for my newborn in April but I think I may just do prefolds, sounds much easier! And can be repurposed easily when they’re done!

    • @ECpeesy
      @ECpeesy  2 роки тому

      A prefold is more bulky than a stretchy flat, but less bulky than a fitted diaper. Prefolds are great to repurpose! Just be sure to really jelly roll to get a good leg seal. I personally prefer prefolds under wrap style wool covers, since the cover helps hold the prefold in place. 💜 Heidi

    What do you use with doing EC? I don’t want to use a snappi or anything cuz then I feel like it’ll be like taking off two diapers and by the time I got everything off baby will have peed.

      Hi! We used Newborn and Novice prefolds during the newborn stage. I jelly rolled the prefold and used the Babeegreens classic side snapping wool cover to hold it in place. It worked fine without a Snappi. After the newborn stage we moved onto stretchy flats in origami fold with the wings tucked under. No fastener. Just held in place by a trim wool wrap cover. 💜 Heidi

      @@ECpeesy Thank you for this useful video. I was looking for your comments about prefolds and strechy flats. I have wrap style wool covers and I want to use them full time. I decided to buy Thirsties but couldn't decide if prefolds or flats. I want to build a minimalist stash like 24 prefolds or 24 flats from Thirsties and 4 hemp inserts for nights. That will be my whole stash. Which one do you recommend?

      @@haticekeskin8558 Hi! Are you still expecting, or is your baby already here? We had one of the Thirsties flats and it was quite bulky when we started using it. Not something that would fit on a newborn. Between flats and prefolds, flats are more of a "one size" option. With prefolds there are typically multiple size. I am not familiar with the Thirsties prefold. Here's my video all about flat cloth diapers: ua-cam.com/video/y6x00nTfsEM/v-deo.html

    Off topic question: what baby doll is this?! 🥰

    • @ECpeesy
      @ECpeesy  3 роки тому

      It's a Dinkum Doll by Ollie Ella. It reminds me of My Child dolls from my childhood. I actually still have my 35-year-old dolls, but I wanted a new clean one for my daughter.

    I washed and lanolized my new wool covers. Came out great, thank you. Can I store them in a tote bag with lavender sachets for about 2 months until I need to use them? Or is there an issue to store lanolized covers for 2 months ?

    • @ECpeesy
      @ECpeesy  3 роки тому

      I normally recommend removing lanolin for long term storage, since it can attract insects that eat wool like moths. Two months isn't super long. It's up to you. Make sure it's completely sealed /zipped shut so bugs can't get in.

    What do you prefer to us with wool covers, flats or prefolds? What is less likely to leak onto cover if baby poops?

    • @ECpeesy
      @ECpeesy  3 роки тому +4

      I love prefolds on newborn babies. They are easy to put on and don't require much folding. Now that we are past the newborn phase we are using mostly flats, since they are trimmer than prefolds. Both potentially could leak around the legs. For putting on flats it's good to learn the Goodkey Method (there are videos on other channels).

    If you're washing your wool covers with wool wash and then lanolizing, do you have to let them dry in between?

    • @ECpeesy
      @ECpeesy  3 роки тому +2

      No. You can go straight from washing to lanolizing while still wet.
