Some tinned fish can be really expensive too and they are a delicacy. There are entire cafes for it in my country of Portugal, the tins come in hundreds of very beautiful designs with different luxurious spices and local olive oils and you eat them with fresh breads and other tapas and beer or wine as full meals. The fish in our tins are gorgeous looking and tasting not some grey sludge like in cheap stores 😅
Re: sustainable celebs - Jane Fonda hasn’t worn a new item of clothing on a red carpet for a few years now. She only pulls from her own wardrobe to bring attention to fast fashion and disposability!
That is a lot easier for someone who is 86 and has been very rich her entire life! I mean, good for her and I hope she carries on and inspires other stars to do the same… but it kinda rings a little bit hollow when you consider how extensive her wardrobe is likely to be and that she’s essentially well past being a coat hanger for designers.
@@jaybee4118 I completely agree with you, but I also still think this is probably a net good. Maybe not by a whole lot, but still. Because think of all the other celebs that aren't doing this. She could have easily just stayed home in a nice house with a nice wardrobe and ignored the problem until she left this earth. Also consider that there may be more people who will be influenced to think twice about fast fashion. Whether it be her fans or people that come across the article that then get curious why this celebrity has been creating a fuss.. Hopefully more celebs will follow!
I have had my fill of iridescent unicorn color from 2017-2021, but! I am happy to see more duochrome/color shift iridescents in colors other than blue-purple, white-rainbow, silver-rainbow, and pink-green. I want to see color shifts like Blue-Orange, sunset colors like a pink-blue or fiery Aurora colors like a Green-red.
See I love iridescent as much as the next person, if not more But I like it a little too much My brain says OOH SHINY and I just stare at it, getting absolutely nothing done Unfortunately, J hope it doesn’t come back. I need to do work
I think we should bring back 80s alternative fashion, especially DIY punk and goth. it has an anger to it that we're all feeling, AND it's intensely personalized.
The best. Or Psychobilly. DIY not Unique Boutique, and Hellbunny, although they are pretty cool, but pricey. I am not talking the cliche Lucille Ball knockoffs. Hand painted biker jackets…elder goth, bad boy/bad girl for all sizes. Little to no makeup for women, men can slap on the eyeliner
I PERSONALLY want/expect to see something I’m coining now as “brothel core” I know the name is kinda crazy but hear me out! Basically tying into underwear as outerwear meets Western-ware. Think bloomers shorts and garters/layered stockings with cowboy boots and flouncy blouses/corsets. I think ribbon/bows can def still have cross over here. Lots of fabrics of varying textures like silks and satins/gauzy sheer cottons. Also anything ruffled. I think it could be fun and get a lot of crossover/people can make it their own.
I love the idea of "Nasty Nautical"! It ticks all the boxes, from low key fetish and bondage to the trend forecast of "Punk Pirate" and New Romantic style coming back. Same thing with the knots, a big nod to a ritual bondage BDSM trend. Yahoo.
I just watched The Lighthouse for the first time and that immediately came to mind when she said that lol. Secondhand distressed wool, chunky knit sweaters, "ugly" pearls and shells, ropes, etc... basically just give me "sailor has a weird sex dream about a beached siren with a giant vagina tail" vibes and I'm here for it lol
This probably won't be as interesting to other people, but this year I want to try wearing platform shoes. As a tall woman, I've always felt like I'm not "supposed" to wear tall shoes or that I'll draw too much attention to myself if I wear them. Whenever I see cute platforms at thrift stores, my heart kinda breaks when I put them back on the shelf. But I think I'm ready to let go of those negative ideas and just try wearing what makes me happy.
I am completely in for the nautical themes but for a dumb dumb reason. I started watching Murder She Wrote and in one ep Mrs Fletcher wore this bomb ass knitted salmon sweater and I was RAVENOUS for it. And found the pattern!!! So I've taken up knitting and murder she salmoned is my end goal. Wish me luck ᕙ(⇀‸↼‶)ᕗ
She is not an A-lister but an Australian journalist and TV presenter wears only second hand (thrifted) items and she has some incredible looks. Jan Fran is her name if you want to check it out.
I hope celebs start wearing second hand for events and being proud of it! I remember when jenna and Julien got married and julien said they got their wedding outfits from the thrift store and I thought that was so awesome, I don’t know why more people aren’t doing this!
ok i didn’t know i wanted sleazy cardshark prohibition-era mobster girl fashion to be a thing before this video but now that you’ve spoken it into existence it is EVERYTHING to me… please let me dress up like a scorsese movie every day
14:11 To the folks looking to see more handmade and mended clothing this year, another UA-camr I watch, Leena Norms, is doing a year in which she makes and refashions and mends her clothes without buying any new or secondhand clothes. If you like Kathleen Illustrated, I’m guessing you’ll like Leena Norms too!
In 2020 Joaquin Phoenix gained some notoriety for being sustainable by wearing one suit for all the awards ceremonies and I just find it wild that it’s even note worthy.
Ooh, big fan of the mother of pearl idea! Maybe in keeping with that something like a foraging aesthetic? Collecting bits and bobs and mismatched buttons for jewelry, brooches, and other adorrnment? I can already see it happening with bringing charm necklaces and bracelets back, but I would be all for an aesthetic that looks like you went looking for pretty rocks, driftwood, and seaglass!
Soooo, basically, you've watched me making earrings and hairclips? lol I have a (secondhand) box full of baggies of little chips of different crystals and a jar of (vintage) mother of pearl buttons I often adorn myself with. I like your idea. Yes, please! Foragecore! Green Witch Fashion!
Oh Garfield is already a big fashion statement in indie comix circles. From Detroit to DC, there are artists making beanie hats, shirts, and other "bootleg" Garfield merch (and tbh, I'm here for it. I already have a Garfield bara shirt I got from an indie creator at Small Press Expo. No regrets). I think Garfield "bootleg" is going to get even bigger this year, moving from the indie circles to the mainstream.
another 2024 trend vid i saw mentioned brooches, pins and patches becoming trendy and i found that funny since i remember in late 20teens how inescapable pins and patches were in the indie comix and art scenes too.
This is my year of customisation in my clothes. I'm an artist, and I'm finally feeling brave enough to put my designs on things I'm going to wear, and I'm SO EXCITED ABOUT IT!! I'm also planning on mixing up materials. AND PLEASE omg yes yes bring back 80s wrestling style and boxing boots!! Thank you Kathleen for always making me think more about my clothes 😁
Have you come across light activated dyes like solarfast? I've been trying to make my clothes into artworks too and solarfast is excellent on a second-hand tee
I've been sewing since the start of the pandemic and i wear my diy clothes as much as the other stuff i have. I love that i can choose the fabrics and how i want it to fit. ❤
I really think the color palette from Poor Things is going to be big in 2024! Cobalt blue, chartreuse green, brighter mustard yellow, and orange! I'm excited for this color palette and will be implementing it into my closet in small ways :)
Cate Blanchett did only re-wears/alterations (of super high end stuff of course) on the red carpet last year when she was promoting Tar. I'd also love to see more of that. And boro is awesome, especially when it's layered mends of your own much-loved garments!
I've literally been saying celebs should sport thrift buys for soooooo long!! Thank you! And if they want to go the extra mile, donate that extra money they would have spent on designer to like an animal shelter!!
I kinda wanna see more people rocking their natural hair. I’m talking texture, colour, and style. Ladies gents and humans rocking the salt and pepper colour letting your greys grow out, or slowing down on the highlights. Letting the puffy 80s hair vibe or the Blake lively messy bed head look. I feel like with the curly girl method, curtain bangs, and wolf cut we have had a lot of heavily styled hair. There was also a lot of fun cool edgy cuts colours and styles. But now I wanna see the more relaxed natural look. My mums in her 50s and has been rocking her greys since the first day they started coming in, I think it would be cool to see other A listers in their 50s also allow the greys to shine.
Fashion inspired by all the weird creatures in the deep sea also sounds really neat, kind of like nasty nautical but a little edgier. There’s still be knots and sea life themes, but also, “goodness, who dragged you all the way up here?” Submarines and anglerfish and giant squid, yay!
It's funny that you mention oysters because I've recently become very interested in oyster aesthetics. Idk! Something about pearls and the organic texture of oysters has been interesting to me.
The red carpet secondhand outfits would be a video I would love to see, especially with your unique style! Like outfits put together for the different award shows such as the golden globes, oscars. etc.
As we struggle more and more with the question of what humanity is in relation to generative AI, I expect to see a general skew towards styles that reflect what machines simply cannot do or that mock machine-generated products and ideas? Organic silhouettes like lumps, rhizomes, asymmetry, branching, deliberate misprints, imperfect mending, extremely worn and faded cotton and fabrics, frayed hems, etc. Actually so much of this video has excellent examples of this "anti-machine" vibe so it was so fun to watch! ❤❤❤
I think astronomical motifs (stars, moons, comets, suns) are going to get at least a little more popular with the solar eclipse in North America coming through in 2024. I would Love to see more grungy nacre nautical vibes this year! It's the vibe I'm gonna bring into the new year at least. The dishonored games got engrained into my psyche and it reflects in my style I also think that big chunky statement jewelry is going to come back for a season and then swerve into very Dainty pieces worn in abundance- like six or seven tiny silver and gold and copper chain necklaces worn all at once.
I have a feeling the poured metal trend might lead to some diy fails involving tinfoil. I love the look and hope people find some great ways to continue it. Also am totally here for the dirty nautical idea. Shipwreck core/whale fall core has a ring to it. Boxing boots look super comfy and remind me of the brief moment I searched for majorette boots after watching Dash & Lily. If ethereal is in (which sounds awesome!) I hope people make content about how to make that accessible for like, random day jobbers like me who can’t be too over the top.
i really like the idea that more thrifted/second hand clothes will be styled. i think especially with yarn communities striving for hand made "slow fashion" and with all the recent backlash against shien and temu, i hope more people will find joy in supporting small and local businesses and finding pieces they will love for a long time
I'm not a stylish person by any stretch of the imagination, but I found costumes in Poor Things absolutely wonderful and mind blowing and potentially trend setting. Thoughts anyone?
I totally and completely agree!!! I was captivated by the fashion in poor things and I'm so sure we're going to see cobalt blues, mustard yellows, chartreuse greens, and whites like in the movie :) I'd be so down for that!
the concept of dopamine dressing really intrigues me as a neurodivergent girlie who literally does not understand why anyone should have to wear clothes that don't make them happy/are uncomfortable even though i myself have definitely also been a victim of this in the past. dressing specifically to make yourself feel happy really seems like it should be the default!
Wondering if the self diagnosed neurodivergent trend will go away this year! 5 girls at my job suddenly started to claim ND and they all happen to be following the non binary trend also! So cool how fashion aesthetics like these and emo are more then just clothes but a way of living! Very edgy tortures soul core! ❤
The nasty nautical theme sounds awesome! I’ve been getting more into colorful pirate-y clothes lately, and the oyster/crustacean motif sounds like the perfect addition! Let’s make it happen! (Secondhand and diy ofc, it’s more sustainable and adds to the aesthetic)
Definitely agree with your predictions, especially bootleg characters and ‘off’-looking cute animal motifs! Here are some random ones that come to mind: heels coming back, pony hair replaces shearling, brown and maroon with white accents (should we call it gingerbreadcore?), new ways of using crochet/knit, tulle-covered hodgepodge gem embellishments à la Prada from 20 years ago, more interesting hat shapes, croc-stamped patent leather… should be an interesting one! Love your channel!
I would love to see more corduroy everything. Also linen. I'm pretty much a hobbit at heart, so the farm peasant look is something I would like to see more of for 2024.
I've been obsessed nautical motifs, especially anchors, since I was little. All I seem to find in the thrift store nowadays are early 2010's style anchor shirts (anyone remember those?) So I'm super excited for nautical aesthetic to be back on trend!
My first thought about all those repeat "predictions" is that they've just given up and they're going to wait and see what the street style dictates. 😆 I like all your "takes" on where these trends might go!
went from StealTheSpotlight’s personal style video to this and I just absolutely love how the entire message from both of you is, “wear what makes you happy and what makes you feel good” THAT SHOULD ALWAYS BE THE GOAL
I’ve been so bored and uninspired about fashion lately and this video has reignited my imagination!! Thank you!! I loved all of your predictions, and can especially get behind makeup as adornment and our political environment inspiring how we present ourselves. So cool!
Brooches and wool! I think it goes with the sort of move back toward 80s style, adornment with silly little brooches and shiny bits. I also feel like I've seen so many people talking about wool as a fibre, I think it makes sense with the move toward more 'natural' clothing. Also what I've decided to call 'conspicuous non-consumption' aka the practice of being very vocal online about shopping your own closet, not buying new clothes (see all the people doing the 75 hard style challenge), mixing/matching from wardrobes, rewearing pieces (signature pieces), being more conscious about thrifting etc.
Bootleg merch has been having a resurgence for the past year! Anyway I love all these trend predictions, how fun. I want some of those mui Thai workout shorts too 😌
I predict masculine silhouettes becoming more popular and also earth tones, plus darker muted shades (so opposite of what we had in 2023 with light neutrals and bright pinks). Along with 60s silhouettes, colours, dresses and skirts becoming big. I think checker pattern could be more popular this year.
IM SO GLAD you talked about trends already being in current fashion coming up in all of these trend reports ive been noticing that a lot lately and nobody has really said any of that yet to be fair i have not been deep diving as much as i could be but its in general something i haven’t really heard anyone talking about it
Hi Kathleen! I know body positivity isn't an overt theme in your channel ,,, but you're legitimately the only fashion UA-camr I have come across so far that has a super similar build to me and I just wanted to say thank you! :) It's helped me visualize styling myself through you if that makes an sense (since it can be really hard to be positive sometimes about how things look on me, but when I see things on you, you look beautiful, so it helps me feel more beautiful and confident to try certain silhouettes, patterns, etc) - your channel is like a ray of sunshine, I really appreciate your work! I hope you're happy in your corner of the universe 💜
I kinda think the opposite with the metallics trend. I think it’s going to be medieval/antique inspired. We’ve already seen suits of armor become a thing on TikTok, and suit of armor style corsets. I think we’re going to see more antique bronze, green-gold, fantasy inspired metallics in 2024 and I can’t wait.
Miley Cyrus wore a vintage hooded gown in the FLOWERS video, and an ombre red Gucci bikini, Emma Watson is very vocal about fast fashion waste and has worn upcycled garments. Katy Perry stated in a magazine interview that she used only wear vintage pieces, but she sounds like she was converted to couture as she rose to fame. I love vintage and pre-loved items. Garfield is set for a comeback, or another 80's comic like Heathcliff(?) [Hello] Kitty's dark counterpart, Kuromi is primed to be the poster child for Rory Gilmore turned goth trend you mentioned last video.
along with the "handmade and thrifted wardrobe," I'd love to see more patchwork or fabric collage !! I think this also goes along with the slip dresses with printed designs (that I've been seeing recently) in a way :))
I wish this year people would wear more colour. I walked into a big clothing store a few days ago and got "slapped in the face" with a "wall of grey". Just lots and lots of boring clothes, I couldn't believe it, so depressing! I was only on the hunt for some pyjamas, but still, the lack of colour in the store was surprising.
Schiaparelli is 100% having a moment and I definitely think we will see more of those motifs this year. I vibe with this as my aesthetic is in the most part black and gold is my metal of choice on the whole. I think there will be a lean towards utility belts, harnesses, pockets. Charms and gems embellishment, agree that pearl and iridescent are going to have a moment too. Trending for me personally... black, always black. Latex/leather - specifically looking to thrift a long sleeve top in that look. Definitely hand made and upcycled - eg. Knit, patch work and personally am drawn to quilted and embroidered items (Olivers embroidered jacket in saltburn to blame) i also am leaning towards embellishment in a big way. Shoes wise I agree with the boxing boot idea though its one I will bypass personally. Big silhouettes and oversize, suiting specifically is a prediction for me even if its one I likely won't follow... and if green is gonna have a moment I am for certain a trwnd setter as barring black its the most common colour in my wardrobe. Anyway... sorry for the ramble.
I would love your thoughts on costume design in media but specifically analysis of wardrobe in Poor Things (2023), my partner and I were obsessed with it.
Some of these predictions ring as cast costuming for a movie/tv series based around Louis L'amour novels. It's old man from the sea, meets old timey sports media (Rocky esque), with a dash of working class labor as an aesthetic...it all kinda feels right for a recession.
I love to thrift flip. Right now I don't have room/time for sewing, etc. (water leak, tearing up carpeting, etc) so I write my ideas for the clothes I've thrifted in a notebook so I can remember what I wanted to do with them. When I'm watching a movie or whatever I use the time to take out hems, make repairs, take off ruffles, etc. so the clothes will be ready to flip when I get back to sewing.
I’m here for sewing, stayed for the shenanigans. I am in the process of a no buy for fabric which I largely thrift and I have so many projects laid out that I need to make a dent. I’m def not into the flattering idea anymore, I wear what makes me happy. I’m of an age where I shouldn’t look juvenile, loud, fun or funky. Boo to that noise. I love seeing what looks like it’s coming down the pike.
I think aliencores going to become a big thing this year. It’s not really a thing rn if you google it it doesn’t show the actual aesthetic but it’s basically futuristic streetwear
I'm a big fan of secondhand flips. I'd love to see that on the red carpet. Not necessarily modifying precious vintage pieces, but some upcycling of previous seasons mixed with discarded fast fashion items maybe?
i love the idea of second hand fashion on the runway/red carpet. my money is on billie eilish if anyone spearheads that. she’s done a lot of work on reducing her carbon footprint and it would be super cool to see her embrace that even more.
I would LOVE to see you try out boro! I've been wanting to myself - I love the idea of something becoming more beautiful and meaningful over the years as you patch and wear it in!
My 2024 prediction/answer to your question in the beginning of the video about why certain trends are happening for way longer is because 1.) it’s going to become “trendy” to be more anti capitalist. It’s going to be cool according to the masses to keep things longer- at least longer than the speed of fast social media trends come and go. Of course there’s socioeconomic reasons behind it but I’m already seeing a lot of what people call anti-influencers who promote keeping things longer rather than go running to stores to chase a trend. People are going online and straight up saying “actually you don’t need to run and buy this thing from target right now.” I also predict that this trend will become problematic as brands try to capitalize on it via mass produced anti capitalist wear-and then it will die out again. For now though, popular things like the Y2K aesthetic is now technically vintage and people are looking for more authentic 2004 items second hand. Extra handmade texture will be personalized and unique as people will add their own knits, rips, patches and so on to their clothes. Even bows are extremely easy to DIY. Speaking of bows, this leads me into prediction 2.) they’re here to stay. I think the super hyperfeminine style will stay for a good while even if it fades away from the mainstream and becomes almost like a style subculture. Hello kitty’s iconic bow on her 50th birthday could give bows a second wind. Also there’s a nostalgia driven aspect to it that to some feel is healing (which doing things because it would make your childhood self happy is something society is talking about more) sort of in a “Actually I do like pink and dresses even after all these years and I’m not going to feel bad about it” way thanks to a lasting impact the Barbie movie made to a lot of people. … or maybe I personally just think my pink 2024 hello kitty planner is really cool and will stay cool all year. 😂
Kathleen you may be onto something when it comes to the jazz revival / casino royale vibe! The “Mob Boss Wife” look is trending currently and is VERY reminiscent of your forecast.
Can you do a video about how you style your hair? I wish my curls could look as gorgeous as your’s. Could you also do a video about pens? I’m on the hunt for the best black pen for writing. I’ve heard pens from Japan are amazing but I’m not sure which ones.
I used to work with two some of Brazilian bigger shoe makers on today's market and it's absolutely true, when you walk into the office to see the next seaso drops there's already plans for the next year or so, Brazilian "mid luxury" footwear market is as big as clothes and highly competitive, even if brands drop new stuff every month there's still chance to a unpredictable trend to come up... But most of the times that trend is orchestrated by a competitor every brand I worked for have different strengths but they compete on the same market
Im so here for the wrestling boots. When i was a teenager we all wore puma driving shoes, which looked really similar. They looked amazing with 00s denim mini skirts and leg warmers
I remember when I was a kid, I had a fashion magazine, probably Marie Claire that had “French” and “Boxing” as trends then. The models wore boxing shoes with dresses and a backward cardigan with pearls.

love to hear you lobbying for bootleg-esque merch, i have a whole collection going of unofficial/remixed band tees! (the slayer logo but it says seinfeld, a steely dan song quote but in the nevermind the bollocks cover art style, an nge/tony hawk's pro skater 2 crossover, etc)
i feel like renaissance and baroque or even medieval visuals will be prominent these coming years. The rise of using old english and gothic fonts like carol gothic ( Saltburn font) points me to it. Red is going to be big this year too.
I sell vintage hard good, but I found this very fascinating! Especially the metallics… I’ve been waiting for pearls to come back in style!! Love me some pearly tones!!!
I think that punk inspired styles are gonna become more frequent, like with the economic state its very similar to what people in 70s london were going through. this and the fact that the 90s grungy aesthetic is making a resurgence i feel like it could veer off into a 70s punk type style
You’re kind of right about the oyster trend because there are sometimes random shirts with pomegranates and oysters on them that are meant to be summery
Simething I see much more often is wearing different layers. Wearing a Skirt over trousers, habing three shirts in different sizes. This is fun and hopefully get more trendy.
AMEN! Dolce and Gabbana's latest women's haute couture definitely taps into the sparkly/molten/heavy structural jewels trend. And Chanel's had a couple of outfits with the faux bikini. I'm talking their very latest runways, so super current. SPOT ON!!
I like trend as a way to get inspired and a tool to have a feel of the zeitgeist and make sense of our particular time in history. I look at it through a fashion history lense and I've noticed a fair amount of 80s vibes everywhere in the last few years (might have genuinely been there, might be influences intertwined in 90s stuff, might be leftover from 2010s, might even be my own personal tastes) and I'm glad to see it become more overt and aknowledged, hair this year seems to get quite voluminous and possibly somewhat more severe (80s were a lot more classic than we remember them) and mainly stuff from alternative fashion seem to be into that whole vibe mainly looking at dark fantasy as more of an influence and the movie Lisa Frankenstein that came out earlier this year. I even saw alternative teenager (to my big adult eyes they came across as a mix of e-girls, punk, emo and stoners, probably a style that doesn't exist yet but it looked super cohesive and cool) and they were listening to 80s pop music which warmed my heart
ive seen a lot of mua’s talking about wanting to go back into maximalist, playful looks! like more editorial but silly and colorful…if that makes sense ALSO ive been seeing a resurgence of the newwave/ post punk/ new romantic look
It surprises me zero percent (as someone who works at a digital marketing agency) that big online fashion media brands are just riding existing trends that likely come from TikTok. This is a classic SEO play. They don't want to go the way of Buzzfeed, and are scrambling to capture any traffic (mainly away from TikTok) they can get their grubby little hands on so that their advertising platform (aka their website) doesn't become irrelevant and they disappear. Love the JAZZ aesthetic prediction, and might be my new 2024 persona. Just living in a Bob Fosse musical
I am looking for a hobbit punk aesthetic this year. A mix of a renfair kind of charms and flow with the punk way of embellishing everything. I think it is so 2024
Be honest did you eat soup while watching this ( ͡◉◞ ͜ʖ◟ ͡◉)
I want to eat soup, but I’m in traffic, listening along while my little one sleeps in the backseat. 💜
Nope. I’m eating an egg and cheese wrap, though… 🙃😘🍳
Yes! I am eating a delicious bowl of clam chowder for lunch while I watch this 😂
Haha I just sat down with a bowl of soup, hiding from an ice storm. Ready to watch your video! 👍🏻✨❄️
I ate onion rings yum yum
Love not having a tiktok, every so often i get told stuff like "tinned fish is trending" like it's WW2 and we're on rations
It's wild that tinned fish is trending so hard that I know you didn't just make that up because I also heard tinned fish is trending a few days ago
REAL!! quitting TikTok healed my soul…but made my entire generation unrelatable to me. what are y’all ever talking about. tinned fish?!
I heard tinned fish was good for you was I lied to? 😂
I heard tinned fish was good for you was I lied to? 😂
She also attends tons of climate protests and has been arrested at least once or twice!!
She is bringing back the purple leotard.
I'd be so up for more iridescent/mother of pearl/ethereal vibes
Same... If enough people do it at once, it becomes a trend whether it's in the runway or not.
YES!!!!
@@IqueyI’m hoping it’s less artificial holo, more natural (pearls/mother of pearl, etc)
See I love iridescent as much as the next person, if not more
But I like it a little too much
My brain says OOH SHINY and I just stare at it, getting absolutely nothing done
Unfortunately, J hope it doesn’t come back. I need to do work
To tie in with all of the ocean aesthetics, my personal trend prediction is that Shrimp will become the new frogs
I love that.
@sierra7128 you may be right, and also this sentence is cracking me up 😆
Same!@@qwertydeluxe
omg you are 100% correct it's so happening! I already see it on my insta. shrimps is bugs!!!
Would love to see artists like SadShrimp's designs get big!
I think we should bring back 80s alternative fashion, especially DIY punk and goth. it has an anger to it that we're all feeling, AND it's intensely personalized.
This is an evergreen fashion IMO yes!
I already do that haha
I PERSONALLY want/expect to see something I’m coining now as “brothel core” I know the name is kinda crazy but hear me out! Basically tying into underwear as outerwear meets Western-ware. Think bloomers shorts and garters/layered stockings with cowboy boots and flouncy blouses/corsets. I think ribbon/bows can def still have cross over here. Lots of fabrics of varying textures like silks and satins/gauzy sheer cottons. Also anything ruffled. I think it could be fun and get a lot of crossover/people can make it their own.
i feel like victorian brothel will be a thing.
The high school theater kid in me just got so excited and now I’m thinking about all those times we had to dress as “saloon girls” 😂😳
Sounds like you’re describing what we wore in the early 90s grunge. Lots of vintage slip dresses and babydolls.
I like this, Nautical in a military uniform way is a no for me, but pirate with a twist! Hell yeah!
Watch me turn up in Ariels fit when she loses her voice, wrapped in canvas and rope
Punk Pirate makes me think of the Tinkerbell Pirate Fairy and I'm down
It definitely goes back to Our Flag Means Death being such a beloved show on HBO too.
Go for it. I've had the same thoughts, I've always fought poor posture from leaning over. I'd like to shed that too.
Same here. I love chunky platforms, but wearing any kind of heel makes me well over 6'1" and that attracts more gawking than I really want.
Hell yes! If it were more practical for my day to day life I would be all over this but alas
Omg do it. I’m tall and only wear shoes with a large soles, I loooove tall women and want to be tall enough to climb
Tall gals wear your heels! Be seen and tower over those peasants!!!
Wish me luck ᕙ(⇀‸↼‶)ᕗ
omg! You absolute mad lad. Best of luck!!!
Where did you buy the pattern!!! O_O
I love this so much! I hope it turns out and I’d love to see the final result somehow!
Murder she salmoned is a great name for a project. Best of luck!
PLEASE I am BEGGING you to share the pattern
She is not an A-lister but an Australian journalist and TV presenter wears only second hand (thrifted) items and she has some incredible looks. Jan Fran is her name if you want to check it out.
I was literally thinking about her too!!
I hope celebs start wearing second hand for events and being proud of it! I remember when jenna and Julien got married and julien said they got their wedding outfits from the thrift store and I thought that was so awesome, I don’t know why more people aren’t doing this!
Be careful what you wish for - the Kardashians would ruin your favourite outfits
@@veronicamaine3813forget that, thrift stores would be pricing their stuff at 70+ dollars a piece
ok i didn’t know i wanted sleazy cardshark prohibition-era mobster girl fashion to be a thing before this video but now that you’ve spoken it into existence it is EVERYTHING to me… please let me dress up like a scorsese movie every day
Agreed. The idea of Cool Girl Cardshark was definitely a revelation moment
Two very powerful ‘Leens!!!
(Thank you for this rec 💕)
Thanks for the suggestion!
@@winterlighthome foragecore! Incredible! I'd love to see your stuff!
Nice! I love Garfield!
another 2024 trend vid i saw mentioned brooches, pins and patches becoming trendy and i found that funny since i remember in late 20teens how inescapable pins and patches were in the indie comix and art scenes too.
I am definitely thinking of Poor Things too! Like the whole textural collage in the ending credits
Yes!!
The dishonored games got engrained into my psyche and it reflects in my style
I also think that big chunky statement jewelry is going to come back for a season and then swerve into very Dainty pieces worn in abundance- like six or seven tiny silver and gold and copper chain necklaces worn all at once.
Also plain canvas clothes. Paint your own art on whatever. Dresses. Tops. Pants. I love cotton canvas anyway. But spray dye is fun
YES!
sounds fun
I have a feeling the poured metal trend might lead to some diy fails involving tinfoil. I love the look and hope people find some great ways to continue it.
Also am totally here for the dirty nautical idea. Shipwreck core/whale fall core has a ring to it.
Boxing boots look super comfy and remind me of the brief moment I searched for majorette boots after watching Dash & Lily.
If ethereal is in (which sounds awesome!) I hope people make content about how to make that accessible for like, random day jobbers like me who can’t be too over the top.
Shipwreck core! Yes!!!
i really like the idea that more thrifted/second hand clothes will be styled. i think especially with yarn communities striving for hand made "slow fashion" and with all the recent backlash against shien and temu, i hope more people will find joy in supporting small and local businesses and finding pieces they will love for a long time
Pretty much my whole wardrobe is from thrift stores. And I love every piece
Aisling Bea is always wearing vintage/second hand! She's amazing. And so are you! Thanks for being so awesome!
And, she wears great earrings, too! Really enjoyed her on Taskmaster and am always glad to see her pop up on QI.
She is wonderful ❤️
@@tula1433 lol who are you and who asked?? begone troll.
I was literally thinking of the whole mother of pearl/iridescent/oyster trend just before you said it. I can feel it in the air!!
man i’ve been working on an oyster art project for like 2 years and now i’m worried it’s gonna seem like a trendy thing
Boxing boots had their moment in the 2000s and it was so fun ! I'd take these over the classic sambas tbh
😆 I like all your "takes" on where these trends might go!
went from StealTheSpotlight’s personal style video to this and I just absolutely love how the entire message from both of you is, “wear what makes you happy and what makes you feel good” THAT SHOULD ALWAYS BE THE GOAL
omggg i love stealthespotlight
We in the best possible echo chamber haha
The acoustics are great here
Same, i love steal the spotlight, and this is the first im watching this person but i love her already!
I am so excited for the more ocean based style trends, I have a big sea shell collection and I already have ideas for jewelry to DIY.
I think there's going to be an increase in upcycling, and adding bits and bobs to existing pieces, such as Twinelle's ties!
IM SO GLAD you talked about trends already being in current fashion coming up in all of these trend reports ive been noticing that a lot lately and nobody has really said any of that yet to be fair i have not been deep diving as much as i could be but its in general something i haven’t really heard anyone talking about it
By far the best video of trend predictions I’ve seen ✨
Wow thanks! 🥲💕
I'm shocked to see you have less than 100k subscribers! You're awesome and inspirational
Aw what the heck thanks! Maybe by next year’s “trend prediction” video 😉🌟
I worked in graphic fashion for 10 years until I quit in 2023 and the word “chase” triggers trauma in me so bad
🫣💕 I was in graphics too! I wonder if there’s a support group for us haha
There should be support groups lol if you find one lemme know haha 😅 it’s a real need
I tend to look to music subcultures to see what gets big in the underground to mainstream pipeline
Accurate
The alt makeup is my favorite rabbit hole right now 😍 I hope it takes off!!!
along with the "handmade and thrifted wardrobe," I'd love to see more patchwork or fabric collage !! I think this also goes along with the slip dresses with printed designs (that I've been seeing recently) in a way :))
I work in licensing and Hello Kitty is def gonna be big this year
I wish this year people would wear more colour. I walked into a big clothing store a few days ago and got "slapped in the face" with a "wall of grey". Just lots and lots of boring clothes, I couldn't believe it, so depressing! I was only on the hunt for some pyjamas, but still, the lack of colour in the store was surprising.
Same, but I do love buying the "crazy" colorway when it goes on deep sale because people are too afraid of color.
I think we'll be seeing even more visible mending, like boro, darning, patching, etc. Also I am IN for Oyster Girl October!!!
Oh forgot to say definitely thing thw wrestling shorts is a great development from the men's boxer shorts trend!
I would love your thoughts on costume design in media but specifically analysis of wardrobe in Poor Things (2023), my partner and I were obsessed with it.
Yes!!
Crossing my fingers for these predictions! BTW Dita Von Tesse wears a lot of vintage second-hand, though idk if shes considered A-List.
I think the iridescent trend makes so much sense bc there’s some 2010s nostalgia and holographic is overplayed and hard to style outside of festivals
I love the rope/harness/big lacing resurgence it's like 80s and fantasy gone haywire. And the playful artistic makeup is something I've wanted to try
the whole metallic section is my favorite take, I love all the parts you pointed out! Can't wait to see what comes of it.
I’m very much for the minimalist, second hand, creating your own items, polkadots, and bows 🎀
I would LOVE to see you try out boro! I've been wanting to myself - I love the idea of something becoming more beautiful and meaningful over the years as you patch and wear it in!
Yes! Make it, wear it, mend it! Love it!
Great video. In a nutshell, sounds like we are closer to reaching Hunger Games level fashion lol
In the age of Aquarius, we are going to see new things that we have never seen before. The creative minds need to come out and shine.
But most of the times that trend is orchestrated by a competitor
every brand I worked for have different strengths but they compete on the same market

Pearls, Grey Gardens, Coastal, Garden wear, Ferns, Natural long hair, Mini Pools, Upper Arm cuffs
i feel like renaissance and baroque or even medieval visuals will be prominent these coming years. The rise of using old english and gothic fonts like carol gothic ( Saltburn font) points me to it. Red is going to be big this year too.
I would love to see your reaction to Hailey Williams tour closet tour, so many vintage and second hand pieces had me so stoked
YES! first of all, love HER and her style is so dang cool. cool celebrity closet tour reactions... hmm... i like the sound of that as a video series!
I eat tinned oysters weekly/daily sometimes. I hope it doesn’t become a food trend, because I don’t want empty shelves when I go to get my fix! 😂😊
You’re kind of right about the oyster trend because there are sometimes random shirts with pomegranates and oysters on them that are meant to be summery
always a treat to get a new video from you!
agree with muay thai shorts and oysters. i saw winona irene’s oyster hair clip last year and immediately went “oh the girls are gonna love this”
Simething I see much more often is wearing different layers.
I even saw alternative teenager (to my big adult eyes they came across as a mix of e-girls, punk, emo and stoners, probably a style that doesn't exist yet but it looked super cohesive and cool) and they were listening to 80s pop music which warmed my heart
okay but oyster punk has been my thing with LITERALLY that identical vibe so.... thanks for the validation
ive seen a lot of mua’s talking about wanting to go back into maximalist, playful looks! like more editorial but silly and colorful…if that makes sense ALSO ive been seeing a resurgence of the newwave/ post punk/ new romantic look
