- For the third year in a row I shot down to the Mid Michigan Motorplex in Stanton, Michigan for the Pure Stock Muscle Car Drag Race (PSMCDR) - this year Rob decided to join Kate and I, and as expected we had an absolute blast! I got a ton of video in the pits of the all the “factory stock” race cars, along with a ton of cool cars that show up every year for the impromptu car show. This is by far one of my favorite events of the year, and 2022 didn’t disappoint. They had somewhere around 130 cars registered to race from all of the muscle-era manufacturers; Plymouth, Dodge, Ford, Mercury, Chevy, Pontiac, Buick, Studebaker, AMC - it was all there! I was able to fly the drone a little bit, and we got a lot of the Shootout First Round, but had to leave before they started running Round 2.

Beginning in 1999, my Buddies and their Fathers who raced these new, made the trek from South Bend, In. to Stanton, Mi. for what I consider, the most exciting racing. I've been to NHRA and IHRA events around the Midwest, but, this is the most entertaining for me. Great Show, Great Cars.
Hey, I was the guy at the starting line (under the sun shade) hitting the GO switch!! And I loved seeing all the cool old school muscle cars all in one location. I couldn't have asked for a better day to be working! Thank you Mary and Mike Ledford for hiring me and putting on such a great event! 👌😁👍👍❤

This is the most exciting drag racing I've seen in a long time. I can't even manage 2 minutes of the Pro classes anymore without falling asleep. But Pure Stock is the tit's! Thanks for the video my friend, good stuff indeed. 👍 👍

I really enjoyed the walk through he pits....these were the cars I grew up with as a young adult in the early 70's... owning Chrysler A and E bodies. This just never gets old....thanks for the video.

I stayed for the first round also, I understand the best 2 out of 3 racing, the drivers do get to race more, I remember when it wasn't that way and the plain brown wrapper won it all, now I believe that car is in a museum.

I always wondered how some of these cars are in the 12s.and a few high 11s. Are they allowed to do any port work?
Isn't it amazing how good these cars look with the proper sized rims and tires. No clown shoe 20 inch rims and rubber band tires that completely ruin a badass car.
Wish they had car shows with stock muscle near me. Instead of car shows with all the new crap.

So if it's pure stock they don't allow any sort of mods? The car needs to be 100% stock as per the VIN number?
The cars do not have to have their specific original drivetrains, but they must be a combination that was available. For example, you could put a Hemi in a 70 Cuda that was originally a Slant 6, but the Hemi has to be entirely as it would have been had it been ordered in a 70 Cuda.
@@drianashton Do you know if they force everyone to run stock exhaust systems, intakes and carbs. The Hemi cars had much better exhaust manifolds, heads, mufflers plus several carb setups.

The 360 Duster is right, all the 340 Duster stripes are wrong.
The 1970 bright red Duster is WRONG.
The 340 stripe only came on 340 Dusters in 1973.
The engine is from no older than 1972.
What a waste
