Wow....seriously man, I want to shake your hand. I was checking our your stuff and thought: "Alright, I LOVE this song; it couldn't possibly translate the same idea of horror that the SNES version does" but hell, you did it. Well done. Picked just the right sounds to convey the same idea without trying to exactly recreate the original.
Funny thing is I can really picture this song and that 8-bit rendering of Thanatos in a fight. It would seem to me to be more frightening 8-bit. Love those drums, good job man.
This song definitely captured that feeling of urgency like "Holy Shit! I gotta take this dude out quick or I'm fucked." haha I wonder if you could possibly do a demake cover of "Wicked God's Banquet" from the game Landstalker. Always thought it would sound bad-ass in 8-bit.
Odd time signature indeed. The composer, Motoaki Takenouchi, is known for odd time sigs and syncopated notes. I bet you could figure it out. From the mouth of Yoda, "Try not... Do... Or do not... There is no try." hehe My friend had Landstalker way way back in the day. I only made it a little further than the part where that song plays. The possessed "Gumi" bear village. Another sick song from that game is "Labyrinth"
@Cactiferret lol I always set my NPC AI's differently before that fight because of that. It worked some of the time... But much agreed. The music in that part of the game(including the pre-fight soundscape) set the tone for a freaky and horrific battle perfectly.
Thanks man! I thought and thought on this one for months before I even attempted to make it, but I think I managed. Wow. Just listened to that one. It's got a very very odd time signature. Like 15/16 or something weird like that. I will try my darndest, but it may take me a bit. I wanna play that game first now :)
Thanks man! The props are much appreciated! You have any SNES music demake requests? I've been working on a bunch of random ones, trying to get another album together.
Well lets see...I've always wondered how Super Metroid would translate to 8-bit. The music sets a mood so well and I'm wondering if that same mood would carry over. Hell, I didn't think it could be done with this song either, so it must be possible with Super Metroid. Other than that, perhaps the battle with Marx from Kirby Superstar or maybe the mid-boss and boss songs from Mario RPG?

Lookin' forward to the results!
Thanks again! This was a tough one to work out, but I think it speaks for itself more or less lol
Cool!
Sounds weird.... even for a song like the Oracle....
