    2.Tahu for negative sentence like, I Don't "Know" ( It pronounces without H letter ). Thanks...

    Nice video Blanca. Just one question about saying goodbye - when I studied Indonesian many years ago, I was taught that 'selamat tingal' is said by the person who is leaving, and 'selamat jalan' is said by the person who is staying. Is this correct?

    • @ruthtaridayana3477
      @ruthtaridayana3477 4 роки тому +7

      I understand it is taught by every 'official' learnig, but actually 'selamat tinggal' is commonly used when u are leaving forever and not coming back (it's sad). Even on farewell with friends or collagues, we prefer to say "semoga bertemu kembali (i hope we can meet again)" or "sampai juga lagi (see you again)".

    • @paulh3358
      @paulh3358 4 роки тому +7

      @@ruthtaridayana3477 Yes, I understand that "selamat tinggal" is formal. I only asked the question because in the video at 11:10 Blanca says that "selamat tinggal = goodbye" and I just wanted to clarify that the person staying would say "selamat jalan" (in a formal situation)

    • @nero3272
      @nero3272 4 роки тому +3

      Just want to help, it's true you can use 'selamat tinggal' if you're leaving. And you can use 'selamat jalan' if you're staying

    • @adityabagask3316
      @adityabagask3316 4 роки тому +3

      Yes it is, in proper way. Instead, we just simply say "hati-hati ya!" for "be careful!" as people go leaving, it's very common.

    • @TriWidyan
      @TriWidyan 3 роки тому +6

      Selamat jalan is like saying "have a nice trip" to someone. It means that person/people will come back in a day or a few week.
      Selamat tinggal is for saying that you or they will leave forever and could never or don't want to meet each other again.

    Very nice video. I appreciate the repeated use of the phrases, which helps for picking up correct pronunciation. Curious about mixing the form formal saya and the more informal Kamu. Is this most comon, or is anda used more if using Saya?

    • @clxwdy
      @clxwdy Рік тому

      I think I can sort of explain! Barely anyone uses “Anda”, so unless you’re trying to be very polite/in a formal setting, use kamu instead. “Saya” is also formal, but you can use it in regular conversation just for variety. I’d recommend mostly using “Aku.”
      Another thing to know, people sometimes use “gue/gua” as a first person pronoun, but that’s definitely only reserved for close friends. Same with “lu” which is VERY informal “you”.
      So to answer your question, when you’re meeting someone new in a casual setting, you can use “saya” and “kamu” and “aku.”
      With your friends you can use “saya” “Aku/ku” “gue/gua” “kamu” “lu”
      And in formal settings use “saya” and “anda”

      @@raymondvanaubel4325 yes there many ways in indonesia to say bathroom or water closet(W.C.) "kakus" is also a word for bathroom in indonesian language loan from dutch but we rarely use it.
      The common word for toilet in indonesia is "kamar kecil" or "jamban" for bathroom that has shower or bath place is "kamar mandi". You can say kamar kecil or kamar mandi for toilet in homes. They are both correct in context. Some indonesian may say WC but that's not indonesian word.
