Ondhokar | Sound of Silence | Borno Anonyo | Translations

This is the first song of ours Translations series that is being released on UA-cam. The album is available on all music streaming platforms.
This song, Ondhokar, is a 'trans-creation' of the legendary Simon Garfunkle song 'Sound of Silence'. Our wish and sole desire was to make it a Bengali modern song which will sound like one which has emerged from the land and air of Bengal and its metropolis, our beloved Kolkata. Although, in this song the melody has kept mostly unchanged but the words, we think, justifies the byline of our album - singing to a song.
We have humbly sang to the song as a tribute. This is a meeting of generations, land and civilisations and it falls in line with the musical, aesthetic and interpretative preoccupation of our band, #bornoanonyo like we have done since our first album Song Letter till our most recent album, EP Kolkata, Vol 1 and soon to be released EP Kolkata, Vol 2.
It is a stroke of luck that we released this song on the eve of Saraswati Pujo and the song was written a year back on the night before Saraswati Pujo (2021). There was an untimely rain that night and it left a mark on the song when we wrote - এ অকাল ভেজা মাঘ পঞ্চমীর আঁধার..... অন্ধকার
