My singing teacher told me early on that one of the keys to vocal longevity is proper breath support. Bassey has it in spades and you can see it at work, especially in this gown. She learned it later in her career,in the mid 80's. When her daughter Samantha passed away, DSB lost control of her voice. She was referred to a great vocal coach who taught herbreathing techniques, and what chords or vowels to use that would cause problems when singing. The coach discovered that DSB had a higher range, and said she could have been an opera singer earlier. The vocal coach taught DSB how to do vocal tuneups. DSB does the vocal tuneup till this day. The vocal coach passed away about three, four years ago.
