    Well, the "brand new" one is actually the Nissan D22 which was introduced on the market in 1997, the second hand one is the Nissan D23 introduced in 2014. And in between (from 2004 to 2014 there was the Nissan D40. This "new" Nissan is nothing more than a 2 generation older 23 year old updated version of the D22. Other brands also sell older versions on several markets, virtually every brand does it. Some "only" one generation older, some several generations older, think Volkswagen might have held the record with that with selling very old generations Polo's, Golfs and until not so far in the past even old Beetles.

      This is not about comparing a new model against a older one, of course the older car would perform much worse. It's about the fact that the older model is still being produced and sold to third world countries.

      @chissssssss But it's possible for modern vehicles to be reliable, or they can put the old engine design into a new chassis. They're just ignore the moral questions of selling a crappy model families are going to be driving in.

    Let's compare a cheap NP 300 which was made so those with less money also can afford a new car, with a newly designed Navara which is at last double the price, and shame the cheap one for not being just as good one as the newer model...

    This is a useless test or comparison. How can you compare a 1997 model vs a 2014 model, doesn't make sense.

    Here in South Africa we have both models the NP300 Hardbody which has been selling for a good 20 years without and major changes and the Euro spec called the Navara which is not in the same category and it’s compared to top spec Toyota Hilux

  • @sebastianvandenhever7811

    Technical correction: the new pickup is the previous model of the np300. The second hand car is the new model which is in fact for sale in numerous african markets, as the previous model as well which is being phased out. I would rather compare it as to a new generation vs an previous generation np300. Still impressive comparison.

    This an unfair comparison, it's like comparing a Golf 3 to a Golf 8! I drive a '92 Mercedes-Benz W124 which remains an amazing car, but it cannot compare to the current E-Class on safety, or price.

    In Africa policing is almost non-existent. In SA law enforcement is timid and not respected. Just look at the condition of many of the cars on the roads. People drive what they can afford not what is safe!

    From what I've read in the comments, this test is not actually fair. One car was apparently designed in the LATE 1990's(1997 I think), and the other model was designed in 2014(again, just what I read).

    I own a Nissan Navara D23 2019, and I must say that this video comes as no surprise. In fact the white Nissan Navara was based on the 1990s/2000s model, built for budget reasons. Due to environmental initiatives, I'm sure nissan will axe it out.
    In my channel I discussed about how Nissan is even planning to axe the Navara completely from Europe...

    The reason the older D22 model (NP300 Hardbody) is still sold in Africa, is of course because of price. The D22 double cab starts at the equivalent of $24,200 in South Africa, whereas the D23 (Navara) starts at the equivalent of $31,500. The D22 single cab starts at the equivalent of $9,900, and you don't get a D23 single cab at all in South Africa.

      I am not a South African, but I deeply believe Nissan and Mitsubishi should leave Renault, thus merge with Hyundai/Kia instead. Their cars, like the i20 and Rio, are deeply reliable, inxepensive, safer, and durable compared to the Micra and Mirage. But however, Hyundai/Kia does not even build pickups/utes/bakkies of its own than Nissan and even Mitsubishi Motors.
      So, while Nissan and Mitsubishi already merged with and gained benefits from Hyundai/Kia and its products like their cars and mechanical parts, therefore Nissan too could take over Isuzu as they build and sell their D-Max pickup on time. As with the current generation [Isuzu] D-Max, formerly known as [Isuzu] KB, is also used as a basis for the current generation Mazda BT-50, whose previous generation model was essentially based on the Ford Ranger.
      But also, Nissan buying and owning Isuzu means both Nissan and Mitsubishi could gain benefit from Isuzu and their products, not just with the D-Max, but also their lorries/trucks as well. As with the current generation Navara, the D23, had recently updated its image, so this means Nissan [and Mitsubishi Motors] could/should leave Renault, thus purchase Isuzu just to rebuild the Navara and L200 out of the D-Max's body...
      But not to mention, Isuzu is already supplying their models to Nissan in Japan, while Mitsubishi Motors' other owner, the Mitsubishi Corporation, also owns a stake in Isuzu...

    Hm... this is for the people who keep saying "they don't make them like they used to". But they mean the old cars are better or something...
    It is socking comparison but just because it sells as new doesn't mean anything. I mean even in EU you can just go and get that model as used and drive it around.
    A buyer need to study a bit before buy anything.

    • @Bralo20
      @Bralo20 4 роки тому +1

      2 generations later actually, the "brand new" car is de Nissan with code name D22 and was introduced in 1997, the "second hand" one is the D23 which was introduced in 2014, between the D22 and the D23 there's the D40 which was introduced in 2004. So the brand new car is nothing more then an "updated" 1997 and thus 23 year old vehicle.

    Nissan has a long way tradition when it comes to sell brand new, unsafe and outdated vehicles to 3rd world markets. Just 2 years back they still sell the Sentra b13 (Tsuru) here in México. That car was not only outdated by 4 generations (20+ years), it was even worse than the earlier ones, no door protection bars, no airbags, no abs. A 40-50km/h crash in that thing is deadly. Simply, it was the most unsafe car sold in Latin America. And the worst of all... Nissan do not take it out of the market for a safety thing, they take it out for emission issues... IIRC they still sell a March (old Micra) without airbags and abs. Poor's people lives do not matter for them and many other car brands (GM, VW, etc).

    • @awakawiateazrutyialocinadn5207
      @awakawiateazrutyialocinadn5207 3 роки тому

      I am not an American, Canadian, or even Latin American, but I could just say for Nissan and its Mitsubishi Motors partner, they should pull themselves out of Renault, thus merge with Hyundai/Kia instead.
      Which means, Nissan and Mitsubishi merging with Hyundai could rather gain benefit from the parts bin and safety technologies they use for their cars, like the [Hyundai] i20 and [Kia] Rio.
      Thus, if Nissan and Mitsubishi reinstalls all of their cars with all technologies coming from Hyundai/Kia cars, except for the Navara/Frontier and Titan as Hyundai/Kia neither builds pickups/utes/bakkies, therefore it could even change both Nissan's and Mitsubishi's brande images instead, making the two of them to act like Japanese Hyundai clones.
      Hyundai/Kia, unlike Nissan and Mitsubishi, have also been selling safer cars in developing markets as well, like in India, which Hyundai/Kia also sells cars there just as in Mexico. Also, Indian people online consider Hyundai/Kia vehicles as safer unlike Nissan, and even Suzuki, whose car manufacturing department had already stopped operating in the US and Canada wayback 2012.
      Suzuki on the other hand, still continues to sell in Mexico instead, but they still handle the reputation of being treated as unsafe and badly just as how it was speculated in India, where Suzuki is a big player in their market, but Hyundai and Kia are deeply booming in India as well.
      But also, its a reminder that Hyundai is also a company of construction, electronics/appliances, and shopping centres, as it started its life as a construction company in 1947, whereas Nissan started as a machinery company until they took over Datsun in 1933, see: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan#Nissan_name_first_used_in_1930s.
      And also, the Renault takeover [of Nissan] meant they changed Nissan's image from a builder of cars with high durability, reliability, and safety, to a struggling car manufacturer. Hyundai/Kia had already inherited the said traits Nissan possessed, now its a reversal, Hyundai/Kia is profoundly winniing and winning, Nissan, and also, Mitsubishi are behind them as well...

    not a proper comparison, the 1 vehicle in the video is the np300 hardbody, the other vehicle is what is called a np300 navara overseas, but is the new navara in south africa. it is 2 completely different vehicle. the navara in south africa is considerably more expensive than the np300 and is a much more premium vehicle

    • @albertorios8061
      @albertorios8061 4 роки тому +1

      @@je1966 Hey, "more security" is way different than "no security". Even the cheapest car there in Europe (Dacia Sandero I guess) is safer than many cars they sold in poor countrys. And it's not a "they can't afford safety" thing, they just decide who's lives matter and who's do not. The old Versa they sold in USA (2013-2019) had 6 airbags, ABS, ESP, better structure and it was CHEAPER than the one they sold in México with 2 airbags, ABS and no ESP... both of them were produced in México.

    • @je1966
      @je1966 4 роки тому +1

      Alberto Rios
      No no, there are no vehicles "without any security". all are levels, and that is regulated by laws. I know many people who go to Africa to buy cars with less security than Europeans, cheaper and without electronics, because the laws don't allow it here. The first ones we have to look at are the users, who prefer cheap to security.
