The bag the gear the setup it all looks great the only thing I would personally add would be a military poncho it will cover you and your bag in the woods you can lay on it lay under it use it as a water catch or just straight up camouflage
@@Oldoaktaxidermy I've done a lot of the study on the subject over the past 4 years taking a lot of advice from other people watched a lot of videos I saw how you were setting up your pack and the only thing that I saw that I would change was the poncho but otherwise great lightweight easy to move pack my personal pack is 40 lb black and easily haul it all day everyday
BTW, those two fromt overlapping pockets are perfect for bandaids, ziplock bag full of boo boo stuff, zip lock full of nitrile gloves. Packs of handwarmers. SWAT tourniquet fit good there too. Quick access for small need now type stuff.
I have had my get home bag in each of my vehicles for years (UA-cam Influenced). Always a surprise when I go through each every so often. Oh, Thats where that is. Recently ditched the backpack for a trunk duffle. Pouches for each section (IFAK, Fire, etc) of items. Packable backpack in case I need to walk. Then I'll just select the pouches I need and go. No sense carrying 40 lbs of stuff when 10 lbs will get me there based on the distance and climate.
Very helpful video, funny thing is my GHB is a vertex and my wife’s is a 511. The 511 feels to be superior and has comfortable straps! I included USGI ponchos to our bags for rain/shelter purposes. It’s hard to keep the weight down but you can always throw out what’s not needed.
Just things to consider: tooth brush and toothpaste, couple packs of plastic utensils that come with knife, spoon & for, salt & pepper and napkin. Great for one time use set speed and urgency might be important how to share a bartering tool if you have to also consider packs of salt to make a salt rinse for your mouth the toothbrush toothpaste salt rinse sore throat are you better than something or swallowed something nasty and you want to get that nauseating taste out of your mouth out of your mouth
All great ideas. I’ve got a travel toothbrush and toothpaste in the bag. I opted out of the full set of utensils due to the function and use for this bag. All the food I have in this kit it boil cooking. Flavor isn’t a factor to me. Appreciate the feedback sir.
I probably just missed it, but I didn't see a power bank. If you did show one hopefully it's a solar power bank. Your phone is your most important tool in any situation. Whatever that may be.
Agree in most scenarios but I’m assuming if we get hit with an EMP, phones will be useless. A good’ol compass and the knowledge to use it will be essential. I’ve since put a compass back in my pack. Thanks for the reply

Let's say that I'm right and an EMP is not something that you realistically need to worry about. You seem like a reasonably intelligent guy. I'm sure you can agree that you needing to be concerned about an EMP is astronomically low. I mean... ASTRONOMICALLY LOW. So, why not have a way to recharge your phone? Your phone can get you out of the situation completely, gives you news, updates, weather, a way to contact friends, family, other people that can help you, etc. The list goes on and on and on. If you're right and an EMP "hits" you you've just been incredibly unlucky. Possibly even luckier by a massive margin than winning the lottery. Your phone is your absolute end game strategy and always should be. The tools and gadgets are fun, and probably make you feel manly, but they'll only keep you marginally comfortable for so long. If you ever get into a situation where you have to "bug out" (you never will) you'll be kicking yourself that you didn't bring a way to keep your most important tool charged. Also, if an EMP does affect you, what's the worst that happened? You packed a $40 solar bank that weighs 12 ounces that you can't use to charge your phone. Throw it away, or use it to charge other things that you may have.
