This album is great in so many ways... it continues “The Boys” story from camp and the screenplay makes it a whole lot better because the album makes more sense after reading it. Camp ends with the lines “The truth is I got on the bus a boy and I never got off the bus...I still haven’t” and the Screenplay begins with “you can’t live your life on a bus”
I dunno. The screenplay kinda ruins the whole album to be honest. It makes it pointless. I like for things to have a meaning. And the screenplay is pointless to listen to.
I mean it’s about a troll who kills himself then survives and he then becomes a drug dealer. Then he dies and in the credits we see him. He is trolling with us. So the whole thing is pointless. That’s why I don’t listen to the screenplay.

"Life's the biggest troll, and the joke is on us, the joke's you showed up" means to me that you kinda have license to fuck around while you're here. That's how Donald lives his life - he embraces the changes. Atlanta is a great example too. I've worked caregiving for people in their 80s and 90s who were dying and I have to say, no one knows what the fuck they're doing, ever, the whole world is kinda chaotic (esp considering 2020, climate change, inequality, mental illness, etc) and what we need imo is empathy, understanding, support, and love for each other and call things out as we see them - even the worst parts of us/our society. And that's the vibe I get from the whole Because The Internet project and the rest of Donald Glover's work.

Dude, same. I first heard it in a video essay about colour in film and it's been one of my favourite pieces of music ever since. When city life becomes a little too oppressive i put it on and i picture myself in a house in the countryside, with only nature around me. I hope that will come true one day. Until then, this instrumental will be my escape. Anyway, that was a bit of an info dump. I hope you are doing good, wherever you are. And that you're still coming back to this track. Peace
