god I love it when games make wifi menu specific music. espcially when games somehow are able to make a song fit perfectly to represent wifi or connecting to something, if that makes any sense. I think the ones that do it best are the mario kart wifi tracks, and pokemon wifi tracks, specifically the battle revolution wifi menu music and the global terminal from pokemon platinum
I miss when the internet was made to be futuristic. The wii felt futuristic. To be able to play with people from across the globe was so inconceivably futuristic, and the wii captured that perfectly. It captured, perfectly, the futuristic feeling of being "online", being "connected to the world-wide internet". It pains me that more tech today doesn't capture how amazing that is. The wii will forever hold a place in my heart with how it was able to capture futurism. This is the Fruitiger Aero future we were promised. This was the genisis of the internet.
I feel like what made these wi-fi themes stand out from games (at least for me) was that Wi-fi was just slowly becoming more mainstream on consoles at the time, the whole concept of the internet and connecting 'online' was so new to me as a kid and at the time we didn't have wifi for a while (at least till a couple years later) Felt like going through a whole new experience. Really got to say, the 2000s - 2010s was truly an experience to us all.
god the DS and wii era's music will always stand out to me so much. the jungle-y drums in mkds and mkwii, the bossa nova elevator music charm a lot of these wi-fi songs have, all the bitcrushed synths on the ds. its so good i cry my little eyes out
There is such an energy in this specific type of video game music .. that chill vibe waiting for the connection, getting from point A to point B .. makes you feel like ur chillin on the beach with a tropical drink, and sledding down a snowy mountain with a giant penguin, all at the same time.
it also makes u feel like ur in transit in space or something. i really like how mario kart wii displays the spinning earth inside the emptiness of space
I would ignore advice saying to "man up" lol. Feelings and emotions exist for a reason and we feel things for a reason. Maybe someone feels pressured by someone or in some situation, maybe something makes us feel uneasy and we don't know right away why. Emotions are energy, and sometimes when it's overwhelming, it's like a big ocean wave, you can't necessarily stop the wave. But we don't need to stop it, the emotion is not the enemy, and it's just telling us something, sometimes in a stronger way. Sometimes we just let the wave through and surf the wave. My way of handling strong emotions is to accept that it's there, and let it pass through. To release whatever tension or thing we are holding on to tightly and let it through. I used to be much more anxious but I noticed I would try to avoid the unpleasant emotions, for example doing presentations back in school. Then I just accepted that I would be nervous regardless and it actually helped me direct the energy in a way to make presentations fun or funny. There can be many ways to approach finding peace and that can be its own topic. It's good to have something calming to return to, to step back for a moment and have a different perspective, to find something we can release the energy to. And it's good to nurture our own healthy home environment where we feel secure, happy, and at peace. ^^ Thanks for coming to my TED talk lol
Definitely nostalgic of a time when connecting games to the internet felt novel and futuristic to me. Establishing a connection to the information superhighway... Launching off using the magic of... The internet!
I remember playing mkw brawl and battle revolution online in its prime. It was so much fun, and I will forever live with the beautiful memories of the Wii.
I love this. Online play coming to first party Nintendo games for the first time was such a mind-blowing experience and the music used to represent those separate online experiences have stuck with me. Thank you for putting them all in one place for me to revisit
Incredible compilation, makes me miss the days when Nintendo apps and settings had such beautiful music. The switch just lacks character without it... Thank you for uploading!
MKWII brings me back to a time where I used to play late at night with a bunch of cracked japanese players as a kid. When I heard it at 19:01, I couldn't express what i was feeling lol. It hit hard as shit.
i recently set up ctgp which has wiimmfi so you can play online again, almost brought me to tears when i heard it for the first time in something like 10 years
@@markymark443 i actually got really excited when i saw funky kong get added, but it's not enough to forget you're still playing mk8 where you have to get to last place to get into first place the playstyle of mk8 is really annoying and weird to the point that i don't even want to play it anymore
Hearing the Mario Kart DS wifi song for the first time in 10+ years really brought me back. Feels like this kind of charm is gone in Nintendo games today
the Mario Kart songs have a perfect blend of upbeat and technical, with these kinda mysterious chords, like you're entering a bright white glassy cyberspace. 19:02 is bullet train vibes
Really happy to see some DS reps... One of my favorite consoles with an outstanding library of both first and third party titles... ...that all have banger soundtracks.
I yearn for the days when there was nothing more exciting than the prospect of playing video games with someone from ACROSS THE WORLD using the INTERNET
Thx for the compilation. I couldn't find a single video of the Fossil Fighter Connecting theme and never would've heared it without the video in the first place. (I looked up music from the game after this video)
I love this playlist! Its such a specific and nostalgic topic. This helped me finish a very long project due the next day yesterday, It helped me to calm down my anxiety and not have a nervous breakdown while I worked, since I was remembering nice memories listening to it. For that I am grateful. And if anyone else is working or studying, I hope you have a very productive time!
The Mario kart DS wifi track make me remember the good memories i have playing online via Wiimmfi… wait a minute ! I just played this game online via Wiimmfi and there’s just like an hour ago ! 😅
Ich wollte auch eine Wi Fi Playlist machen, aber du hast fast alle, die ich auch auf meiner Liste habe. :D Dann höre ich mir deine öfter an, das reicht schon :D
great song, much love to those people who do their best to keep the past alive. i can only get a rough idea how much effort, time and money it must take to restore old games online functions again and keep them up for everyone to enjoy if the choose too.
10 seconds in and wooo that shit hit me hard! I remember being mind blown that I could even do this on my DS! Wifi plaza in Pokémon diamond was where I spent most my time when I was lucky enough to get wifi access
The 6th generation of consoles was when online connectivity entered the mainstream. Instead of being an addon to the console like the PS2 or original Xbox, it was built-in, and it was around this time Nintendo played their hand at it as well... It paid off.
Wow! Listen to all these nostalgic WFC themes I couldn’t grow up with because we didn’t have Internet until *after* this shut down when I was 12 years old! In a weird sort of way, I think that may have actually been a good thing, though. Growing up playing these games alone and casually the large majority of the time made me who I am today, and is that really worth wanting to change the past?
A huge part of what gave Nintendo its charm, is that the company made its past systems have individual theme songs for regular apps even if they weren't meant to be played. It was a different time for Nintendo. Where WiFi games were free, music wasn't being copyrighted on UA-cam, and creativity options for your system/handheld were up to you. I feel like they've lost some of that charm trying to appeal to the modern landscape.
this is not really related but i remember sitting for hours with my pokemon emerald hoping somebody would join the LAN rooms with my little wifi thing pointed out the window when I was like 5 ;-; nobody joined, but look at us now, we can access the entire world and meet amazing players

so true... Pokemon Crystal (Japanese ver.) had a specific theme for connecting to flip phones... not an available feature in other versions sadly.
i so agree, nintendo wifi music slaps for no reason
it's just nintendo elevator music
it's like elevator music for gamers :3
It's fine

This is so oddly specific, but incredibly needed. Wifi music is just sooooo good!
Haha, right on, I was about to basically make this exact same comment

i love that thought. The wonder of the internet and portable gaming devices we experienced as kids.. Wifi music captures that in a way.

19:01 HOLY SHIT THAT NOSTALGIA HIT LIKE A TRUCK
FR
requesting this be played at my funeral
Drum and Bass
ikr i forgot about the mario kart wii wifi music, unlocked a deep memory of mine
Bruh same I forgot how much I used to play Mario kart wii online 😳😳😳😳
Being a kid back then, it felt so futuristic that you could join an online game WIRELESS on a handheld :o
The mario kart wii lobby theme just has some mythical aura to it you wouldn't understand unless you played the online
holy fucking CHRIST the mario kart DS brought me back to a time of inner peace....DAMN dude these are nolstalgic af
The MKDS hits so hard in the nostalgia 🥲 6:28
The players loading in at 19:53 gave me a jumpscare I thought I was about to race again
I am now understanding where my love for trance and DnB come from. All of my fav nostalgic nintendo songs are MASSIVE TUNES
6:28 omgggggggggggg the instruments used im actually crying wtf
good to listen to after a panic attack, im suprisingly at ease
glad you're feeling better, friend! music always helps me calm down as well :]

Same I was beating myself up. This calmed me down.
The first one is so nostalgic as its a pokemon song with how much I played BW dream world, and gts negotiations.
So specific and anecdotal and yet anyone who used to play online will remember it. It is also a part of our past that brings us nostalgia in the end.
Definitely nostalgic of a time when connecting games to the internet felt novel and futuristic to me.

I've had a rough day and started crying after clicking on this out of curiosity. this is music i didn't even know i missed.
13:07 is not originally from Fortune Street, it was first used and created for Dragon Quest 9 for the Nintendo DS, the track Pub Polka.
Incredible compilation, makes me miss the days when Nintendo apps and settings had such beautiful music. The switch just lacks character without it... Thank you for uploading!

Hearing the Mario Kart DS wifi song for the first time in 10+ years really brought me back. Feels like this kind of charm is gone in Nintendo games today
I remember playing free local mario kart DS with my siblings. I would always love being a shyguy tbh
i remember always bopping out, it sounds so voguey to me

Realizing now how many good memories I had with late nights laying in bed playing Mario kart DS
Man scribblenauts was my childhood. That whole soundtrack is so nostalgic
the fossil fighters theme brings back so many good memories 😩 i used to love that game
ds and wii will always have the most iconic bgm T__T
I like the Pokemon WiFi sounds.
just the loading sounds and the wifi logo and going to meet actual humans , trust me that was the peak
The Mario Kart DS one hits way harder than it needs to
19:01 I NEVER KNEW IT HAD D&B IN IT 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Not sure if it's considered DnB, but it's a very nice chill breakbeat/breakcore track indeed
@@Leurak i would say so, considering it has a high bpm drum beat and a unique bassline. sounds pretty DnB to me
I LOVE THIS PLAYLIST SO MUCH
Goddamn, the Marimba goes in on the first one and I love the bells, too.
I remember loving the first song when I heard it in game. That's a song I probably wouldnt have ever thought to find again so thank you!
Ludwig just had this on stream!!!
I've never heard of the game before, but Cookie and Cream's multiplayer music had no business going as hard as it did lmao. Best one.
13:07 thank you for putting fortune street in this video. Such an underrated game with the music that it has to offer, in my opinion
28:07 Whoa, Spectrobes got fantastic music!
Dang you just had to start with the BW WiFi music. I'm crying.
I'm partial to Wifi lobby from Tatsunoko vs Capcom, though it's WAY more upbeat than what we have here. Thank you for making this video!
the Black and White Global Terminal holds an incredibly important spot in my brain, heart, and soul.
Wii chess goes crazy ‼️ 🗣️🗣️‼️
You had me at Fossil Fighters :,)
this is kinda perfect for bgm i use which is just obscure nintendo sounding music
37:17 is my favorite one

See, i never played anything with WFC when it was still online, but all of the music here sounds so goddamn nostalgic, i can't explain it.
I don't know about other nintendo games, but I guarantee I'll feel nostalgic for all of splatoon's connection music in several years time.
Yugioh world championschip has such a good wifi music omg. It is my favourite beside mario kart wiis wifi music
I love the Wi-Fi songs even if I didn't really connect to Wi-Fi on any of my DS games
Lovely post with helpful information. This tutorial ha really helped me a lot. I do like and enjoyed this cool video.
38:17 brought SO MUCH BACK OMG
Why is the Mariokart Wii NFC music breakcore and WHY IS IT FIRE
The rush of nostalgia that hit me right as a clicked the thumbnail
im not gonna lie i know every song on this playlist and only because these b the typa songs i got playing all day in the back of my head at all times
I love how some of the songs are like 2 whole minutes long for the people with bad wi-fi connection.
Ah… I love the Pokemon Battle revolution music. Really takes me back
BLACK AND WHITEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE my first pokemon game well it was white 2 I LOVE RESHIRAM
6:28 I was not ready to cry today.
the fact that there are now people who don't even know what the hell a DS or wii is makes me feel old man, i'm right at home here
25:07 was reused in many Pokémon games, including Scarlet and Violet.
it is still different in terms of instrumentation and style in each game which i find neat
The Nintendo WFC music from Mario Kart Wii is sooooooooooooo nostalgic!

It paid off.
Technically, it was built in for xbox, you just had to pay for it first. Gamecube would have been a better example.
i miss these days from my childhood now.
A whole playlist of music I never heard because my parents didn't allow me to connect to the wifi
Same.... Well, we get to hear it now, and theres copies of the NDS WIFI network, so maybe we can hear it in game at some point!

Only other song I would have added is the connecting to a pokewalker song from Pokemon HGSS, that is so chill.
i've always loved these wifi connections tunes. 100% godtier elevator music
38:18 yeeessss!! finally someone gives voice to MMBN
I miss this type of shit they don’t have anymore nintendo used to go hard with just simple menu music like the eshop and settings it was great
