I had the 1986 version of the tyco TURBO HOPPER!! Loved it, this car was soooo popular back in 86.. My mother tried to get me one for Christmas that year and they had been sold out everywhere!! And the early versions like I had, employed the round spiked tires!! Later versions like aerohopper or heads up turbo was equipped with the flat spiked tires.. Thanks for the memories..
OMG!!!! Thanks alot, ive been searching since a while this RC. I had one when i was 10 in 1991! It was made tough, only bad thing was the 8 hours charging time for 15 minutes of play.
This is fantastic rc car. They don't make them like this anymore. Now you get the new bright garbage from shops. I have ordered one for myself from ebay used one. Can't wait to drive it like when I was a kid. Great video btw
I loved mine! I remember I was so young when I got this I barely knew how to operate it, I remember my dad doing it most of the time because i was still learning I guess😂 A couple years later ( I assume) I had kindafigured it out on other rc toys and I remember wanting to play with my wild thang! But by that time the controller was nowhere to be found so I just had the buggy and I had it awhile. I guess it got thrown away eventually. Wish I still had it!
I had the original tyco turbo hopper I miss those great childhood toys they don’t make them like they used to I wish I was able to keep better track of them I probably broke them or something
Yes the old toy RC cars of the 80’s were beasts compared to the stuff kids have today! The original turbo hopper was a blast, I broke my first one in 1986! One jump to many I guess
Nice RC car 🥰. And nice vid 👍🏻. I like all the explanations about the „wild thing“. I trink, nowadays they are really rare. Do you still have it? I think they will become more and more popular for collectors.
Would you say this is your favorite frame buggy RC in terms of speed, control and reliability? I watched all your frame buggy videos and this one spoke to to most, but they're not cheap so I would appreciate some insight. Thank you!
This is a great RC buggy, if you are not looking for a hobby grade car, and one that is vintage and ready to run from the heyday of retail RC this would be a great choice. My favorite is actually the Lobo 1 but that is more for sentimental reasons, from a performance stand point this is likely one of the best in my opinion.
@@ourdogzippy Sweet thanks for the response! Your videos were very helpful so I'm glad you took the time to record them. The Lobo 1 is dope, but the fact it lacks the digital proportions where you can't turn the wheels without accelerating or reversing is an issue I found on a Radio Shack truck I currently have. I do want to stick to stock vintage RCs, nothing hobby grade or new gen, I never had these as a kid so I'm reliving childhood dreams haha. Thanks again
Nope, no camera tricks, no speeding up the footage. It is that fast seriously… an older original turbo hopper yes, not as fast but the heads up 9.6 volt really is that fast if it was well taken care of. I assure you the footage is legit.

I think you are correct about the rear wheels and tires. I'm under the impression smaller diameter wheels on the red car are the early production.

Thank you for the compliment! Yes the new bright stuff is garbage compared to what we had growing up👍
Nice and greate cars! Thank you sharing!
I loved mine as a kid.
I had this rc and the tyco hammer I loved both of them

@@ourdogzippy I remember playing in the house and I kept hitting the gear box off of kitchen table legs and chair legs I went through so many of them.

Thank you for the compliments. Yes I still have it and it still runs great! It has really held up well :-)

The front bumpers on these broke very easily. I still loved mine though.
She don't like water puddles, I'm speaking from experience from over 30 years ago.
I remember seeing a commercial of this buggy I can't find here on UA-cam Is it now Lost media?
It’s somewhere I have seen it before - try 1989’s toy commercials, those video collections usually have something
@@ourdogzippy I have found the french commercial not the english one tho ua-cam.com/video/0Iabr0YCJjI/v-deo.html
4 hour charge and you get 10 minutes maybe on the fast gearing.
You are speeding the footage up a bit ... No Tyco is that fast. The sound is too high pitched... That's what gives it away
