Hebrew 9 is about what Christ did for us. He became the sacrifice for our sins. He took our sins and gave us righteousness, so when we die we are seen as righteous not as a sinner. The Bible teaches that when we experience death on this earth, our (believers in Jesus Christ,) body sleeps 1 Thessalonians. In Philippians 1:23 Paul is saying basically that he would rather sleep (earthly death) and be present with the Lord, but he also knew God had him doing things on earth to bring others to saving faith. The body of those who sleep now will be raised first at the rapture. Then we who are alive will be caught up in the air. We will all get glorified bodies. You can read more about this in 1 Thessalonians 4: 14-18.
We go to heaven when we die or if we are still alive when the Rapture happens. However after the 1000 years of Jesus rule and after the final rebellion the New Jerusalem comes to earth and we will be with Him forever.

In one of those psalms the word sore...running through the night referred to sorrow
