Samba de Orpheus (Jobim) Ronn Carter (b) Mulgrew Miller (p) Bobby Broom (g) Ron Carter Trio en concert au festival Jazz sous les Pommiers le 3 juin 2011
The guitar was excellent in this video! You could tell even though he did his stuff, he listened to Ron and Ron listened to him. The guitar provided that jazzy bossa Spanish flavor and the double bass gave that melting, warm jazz feel. Definitely, Ron Carter plays like a "True" Double Bass player!!!
Bobby Broom ! Yeah really playing great rhythm guitar and Ron is incredible just wish I had the cash to get a bass that nice set up that well . Top class . Nice suits
Such vibrance! Carter is stunning. The clarity, the natural ease with which gets around, the brilliance, the intelligence of his choices all convene to absolutely thrill.🌿
@@RonCarterBassist Mr.Carter, thank you for your wonderful response. When I first discovered you on UA-cam, I was looking for the recording of The Shadow of you Smile, by Tony Bennett. I saw your picture playing your instrument with the same title and decided to listen. The way that you played your instrument, the tones emanating there from, and how well it blended with the beautiful piano, was just so magical. That music your were part of, is the best jazz that I think anyone who has a smidgeon of class, could ever hope for. You were classy, magical, and the expressions on your face while playing, told me so much about how profound a person and musician you are. I could go on for days. Let me just say thank you for your desire to share your talent with us all. I adore you and God bless you every day.
Only people who don't know the real Spirit OS Samba who are criticizing the Bobby Broom's playing. He was fantastic, that was the real deal, he made it samba-funcky and but cached de Spirit of real Brazilian samba .
Luiz Bonfa's Samba De Orfeu (Samba De Orpheus) from the film "Black Orpheus" (1959). In many ways the musical score led the way for the bossa nova explosion that was to follow a few years later, and served as an introduction to the music of Bonfa, Vinicius De Moraes and Antonio Carlos Jobim. The haunting melody of Manha De Carnaval was also written for this film, and can be heard on David Grisman's CD "Dawganova". 5:05 [Mandozine]
Always loved this tune and also the talented Ron Carter. Sadly the balance is out on this sound track. Seems that the guitarist is the soloist its so loud.

The guitar part didn't sound good but it was due to two factors, one being that the Jazz box guitar was basically playing acoustic and didn't have any volume of the pickups and the electric clean jazz tone that we are familiar with....the second factor is that the bass and guitar seemed to be playing two different songs at one time...neither were bad , but they just didn't sound like they go together
LOL Kleinequietboy Kleinequietboy I remember having said on some other vid comment that you're not much of a quiet boy but I feel so inclined to agree with you this time ahaha but all the same I don't like the guitarist. it's not only about the poor sound quality it's about his poor playing, awful playing.

I only wish I could hear the actual song from the movie. My ears hear great music, but my ears aren't perceptive enough to even hear the four notes of the C maj 7 at the beginning of the song that I they're playing. Oh well. I'll try again.
The composer is Luiz Bonfá!

Your kind words have brightened my day... thank you.
Ron Carter = THE MAN..THE MAN..THE LEGEND..point blank period
🙏🏾
The exceptional Mr. Ron Carter is a dream musician; Tall, classical and dignified, he plays his music with passion and charisma.
@@tormclean9657 It is merely a compliment and nothing raise the roof about. He is a great musician, that is the point.
I'm honored by your kind words, thank you.

Bonfa not Jobim (in description)
This guitar rythm reminds me of New Orleans!
And that's the way to do it, ladies and gentlemen.

Guitarist went to an AC/DC concert before the gig.............
Excelente ! Mas o "Samba de Orfeu" é
do Luiz Bonfá!
Great, but a conga player would have tightened it up

my favorite part is when the guitar stops
Russell Malone, the greatest guitarist nowadays.
The guitarist is Bobby Broom, though you are correct that he is the greatest nowadays haha.
Because Ron Carter only hires guitarists who suck.....right @tom blake
If anything, the guitar is too loud in the mix.
lmao
What a trio! I remember them playing at Ronnie Scotts, How wonderful! Ron Carter, probably the greatest bassist ever!
🙏🏾
That bass.
Forever shadow of Orpheus given breath by the mighty Ron's Bass
Ron Carter for ever
Swing:
BRAZIL >>>>>>> EUA
Maravilhoso,o Samba do Orfeu Negro
They could've just slowed down just a little bit...It would've been so perfect...Also, the guitarist forgot it was duo...in parts.
Composer of Samba de Orfeu is Luiz Bonfá, not Jobim.
Merveille musicale par Ron Carter
Merci !
Renaud

This is Samba man , he did a justice, the volume its 100 % fine, its Not the boy bossa nova.
Agree, the balance is way out.
This song always reminds me of “Nicas Dream” anyone else?
I like the piano part
Me encanta el sonido de su contrabajo del maestro... uuuuf
30 seconds of loud guitar strumming is enough for me...
Too much guitar... but a great bass.
Mr. Carter is the master of Conservation of Effort.

It was breathtaking and so MUSICAL!!! And he’s quite tall!! Just the perfect build for that Instrument!
Master Ron❤
You go Ron!
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Chapeau, Mr. Carter.
👏👏👏👏👏👏🎸🎤
Thank you for sharing my work :)
it takes Ron awhile to get in the pocket because the guitarist is not listening to Ron!
Wow!!
How on earth could there be forty-four dislikes? Even ONE dislike is too many! Are they crazy????
Ron,
Damn! Making all kinds of music.
Thanks and love,
Rob

Master RON!!!!

Took a bit under 20 from me... feeling lucky...
THE GUITARS TOO LOUD OVER RON CATER.AND THE GUITAR SHOULD BE ACOUSTIC .
Real masterwork very good played.

Samba de Orfeu was composed by Luis Bonfa.
........ ....... ..... what's uppppp!

I totally agree.
Guitar tone sounds thin and clangy... Seems like the mix as well is all over the place, especially on the bass. Great trio tho
+Andy Ko that guitarist was soo off I agree, but the Bass is impeccable
LOL

¿ es necesario decir algo ? ....... solo escuchar con el alma
Samba without percussion is like pizza without cheese & tomato sauce.
and still cold

excellent
samba?? no exist samba in video. the samba is other universe, see jobim, ary barrozo, moraes and others genius.
O samba de Orfeu, de Jobim e Vinícius, chama-se assim, faz parte da trilha dofilme de Camus, Orfeu Negro. O Ron o coloca muito bem no jazz.
Is the guitarist even aware he’s there with other players, even the piano player seems to be shaking his head
The guitarist definitely needed to space out his chords more

Great tune. Imagine how wonderful it would sound without the guitar blasting so loud. A little surprised. Took away from the performance a bit.
I think the sound techs missed this one.....could have set the sound better
this is so bad
