In other parts of the world, it is called "The Kung-Fu Kid". Most Americans would not know what kung-fu is so they called it "The Karate Kid".

No . . . they called it "The Karate Kid" because while Americans know perfectly well what Kung-Fu is, they wanted the brand recognition.

Kung is literally the same as karate they just say it differently from each other in China & Japan
