Yellow Throated Sparrow Feeding its Chicks

  • I shot this video during summer in a forest near by my home. The bird is called Yellow Throated Sparrow or Chestnut Shouldered Petronia. The bird belongs to the sparrow family. The males support a yellow patch in the neck. These birds come here every summer to raise the next generation. They don't make the nests themselves but use the natural or abandoned cavities made by another birds like woodpeckers. Sometimes there is a competition for the cavity between these birds and woodpeckers.
    I noticed the spot when I saw the parents visiting this cavity. They were bringing the insects to feed the hungry chicks. Chicks were always waiting impatiently for the parents.
    I hope you enjoyed this video. I have shot the video without causing any disturbance to the birds. It was shot from a safe distance.
