“On that note I keep it g like notorious big, if you don’t here look that shit up I promise you’ll find that KEY to the punchline.” That song was constructed on the G note.. that’s why he said you’ll find the key to the punchline... pure master craft shit that got passed over. Too deep
Bro I’m honestly just a fan of logic as a whole so I’m going to fw anything he drops regardless, I’ll admit in the past couple of years he hasn’t been dropping stuff of his “quality” but I still loved it. Like I was hyped when he announced no pressure because of the nostalgia that surrounds under pressure. No Pressure definitely has the UP vibes but the song DadBod specifically made me realize that not only has he grown up and matured but he’s also evolved as an artist. That’s just how I take it but keep it up bro I’ve been loving the content for years!
Never understood logic repetitive raps fast but doesn't say much in his bars he just doesn't seem to say anything interesting he doesn't have any dope or interesting rhyme schemes he seems more fake deep then anything also OutKast did this beat much better
Layed, you're absolutely right about fans altering rapper's creativity. Logic is literally one of the most underrated rappers (in my opinion). With his fans really pushing him to make a return on Under Pressure via No Pressure, his creativity is being treated like nothing. Take his album Supermarket for example, he attempted to try and use a variety of ways to make his songs distinguished from his other songs, like using an acoustic guitar. He wanted to experiment with new ways, but his fans were opposed to his idea and wanted him to stick to his roots in the old days. It doesn't matter what the fans want, it matters that Logic is happy with what he makes, henceforth why he despises the internet and social media. In "Dark Place" (another serious track on No Pressure), this further elaborates his feelings. Honestly do I give a fuck about what Logic makes? No. Do I care that Logic can do as he pleases? Yes. I, as a rattpack fan, could care less if people found COADM trash. In fact, my first Logic concert was a COADM concert. Seeing him up on stage was a surreal experience for me because I got to see my idol right before me. I'm sorry if I'm getting off track but anyways; Logic is in fact Logic. He always has been himself throughout the years, as the fans wanted his "old self." Some fans just don't see it though. But I do. His creativity should never be lessened and lessened. Let the man be himself, and seeing as how No Pressure is his final album, I'm grateful for it. I'm ever so grateful for Logic to be a part of my life.
Harry H might be the worst but he kinda goes hard still and i think the sound effects like “perfect!” and “fire!” are funny. i think it’s a weaker song but he goes in for such a short time
I hear people who say they like the “old Logic” but we have to give artists space to grow. We can say we want the “old Logic” as much as we want, but then when does he get the chance to experiment with new sounds (for YOU as his fan btw)? Essentially what I’m saying is that there’s no such thing as the “old” version of someone, just like there is no “old” version of you as a human. If you don’t play with fire trucks and barbies, it’s not because you’re a different person, you’ve just grown up. If you want the “old” Logic, go vibe out to Young, Broke & Infamous in your own time and let the man grow tf up💀
I think the way I think about that is that I just didn’t want that Bobby Tarantino II type music again, cause it just felt overdone, just in that album alone. Don’t get me wrong that album slaps, but it was way different from like under pressure or everybody, where each song told a story, and the entire album was a movie in its own way. And then he dropped confessions (the song) and it blew us away, it was absolutely beautiful, and then the album came out and there wasn’t anything else on the album that was that deep, so in a way it was like he gave us a taste of his absolutely mind blowing skills as a story teller again, but then didn’t tell too many stories after (The album still slapped tho, every single song he’s made slaps, in my opinion). So I personally was nervous about no pressure, I had no idea what to expect, but it’s here now, and it’s a classic already. And ofc, his mixtapes are, and will forever be, some of the greatest mixtapes ever dropped.
I dont think people really wanted the "Old Logic", i think people wanted a better Logic. He just started making so many albums that his pen game was just getting bad tbh (lazy verses, recycled bars). That hunger and energy he had in his mixtapes, Under Pressure (my favourite album of all time), and The Incredible True Story seemed like was gone, because he was dropping so much music. The intro to Under Pressure had a very ironic bar which always resonated with me about Logics work: "But I'm not defined by the sales of my first week 'Cause in my mind, the only way I fail: if my verse weak" This bar is literally the perfect reflection to his last few albums. (Still though, I love Logic, been a fan of him for so long. I still have a huge playlist of his songs- sometimes 6ix's production was worth listening to a song over the lyricism)
“Spit these rhymes faster than fiber optic cable I’m gone”that was brilliant, and I happened to look up fiber optics a couple hrs before watching this I just noticed that punchline
personally as an artist his past albums where just testers for flow and technicality, take a look at the flows on confessions of a dangerous mind for example, he brought took the flows in a direction that made him seem like his voice it self was a drum set playing a rhythm that was lit as shit. i felt the "this is just for practice" vibes, like he was taking his listeners on his creative journey. so this whole thing has me torn because i felt he just wanted to connect with his "friends" (fans) on a deeper note than just dropping and consuming. so my final thought on this is, logic is a MC at heart not a rapper and if he where to have stepped into the MC realm instead of the rapper realm we could have had a more prolific logic in the long run
I believe I’m general when people want the “old” artist back they really want that style or cadence back. There is a certain nostalgic element to it that could enhance the current artist w/o hurting the creative. Some artist do have the ability to jump into eras seamlessly and their base is receptive to it.
that "keep it g, like track 4 kick in the door by notorious BIG, don't believe me look that shit up i'll promise you'll find the key" is the smoothest hardest bar i've ever heard, really shows how well he knows hip-hop and his writing skills.
front to back no skips imo album is so good man happy that he went back to putting out shit like this and like he also has been wanting to do this for a while like he had it all planned out for a couple of years now.
I definitely feel like he as given us so many different sounds of him self then when he goes back to his old flow and sound which in my opinion is his favorite kinda music as well it makes it so much more special
I feel as though he found a good medium between the two. In this song he kind of goes in and out with new and old style. He starts to change his voice when he goes into the second half of the album and he goes back to the under pressure style in the end.
4:50 yeah it limits his creative process. Also, it is possible for him to have mumble flows but have lyrics. J Cole, Drake, Kendrick have been using new flows from the mumblers. Yet the songs still have the same quality as their more lyrical straight to the cut rap flow. Logic needs to find a balance.
Camron did something like this and i love it. Cams newest album has losing weight 3 and if you know the prior losing weights its a great way to have the trilogy
It's his last album, he's retiring. In an interview he said he was sick of letting everyone influence what he did so he did what he wanted on this one. He said Rap had stopped being as fun to him. So this one is a lyrical heavy album with his real life stuff. Love it.
I think there's room for "both" logics. True fans will roll with him no matter what he puts out. Whatever he feels like doing, I'm cool with it. But I do love the style of this album. It has a old school hip hop feel. Great to just vibe out to.
If logic took that amount of time to create the old him, surely it would make sense if his fans would let him take more time to improve his new music so fans don't want the old him like his music now
Old Logic never left. He tried new stuff and never left regular rap. He was always going to end his career this way. He's a rapper to the core but is versatile. Now new Logic and old logic are the same people, and people will forget it if you were to drop another indie rock type project.
I think it comes down to artist's ability to adapt to the new sounds, look at the weekend. he brought a new yet really familiar sound. some artists have just perfected a sound and their fans are unwilling or are unable to change and grow with artists. That doesn't mean that its the fans' fault some artists just cant break the bar that they set previously and at the current state of music its hard to switch up your sound without upsetting old fans or some artists just fall through. ex: logic LOL
On that topic of that old shit vs that new shit, the only thing I'd say to an artist is : "be true to yourself and make music that you love" (Rick Rubin said that).
Bobby has said it before, " your new shit ain't good as your old shit till your new shit is your old shit" no matter what he drops, it'll always be looked at as greatness when he's gone, whether it be coadm, supermarket, or the incredible true story. It'll all turn out the same in the end

I Speak Astronomy, Teacher Teacher, Pisces, Perennial, and Who Is Gonna Be The One. Everyone usually starts on Pisces but thats just a interesting introductory to who this group is. If you want to really see them shine check out one of the other songs and make sure to hit that record button. Btw don't do any research on them until after if you feel like it, and keep in mind how you felt when you listened to Question by SOAD
This is just my opinion but if you're a true rattpack Logic fan you'll love whatever he drops regardless if is new or old Logic. And that's the thing I've heard him speak about giving the fans what they like that he'll never make anyone happy because not everyone will be happy every project he drops.

people fail to admit that as the rattpack, our words hold a lot of weight. to an extent, we ultimately played a role in logic leaving, as hard of a pill that is to swallow. we wanted the "old logic", but pushed him away entirely in the process. going to miss him. loved this project.
