Smash truly has come a long since the 64 era.
Unfortunately, we've reached the top with Ultimate.

@@beauwalker9820no they aren’t they are 2.5 D meaning the gameplay is in 2D but the stages and the characters themselves are in 3D
Poké Floats
This stage is not directly based on any Pokémon game, though its "Kanto Skies" designation refers to the Kanto region in which the original Game Boy Pokémon games, and their remakes, are set. It is rather a collection of Pokémon models taken from the Pokémon Stadium series of games.
Interestingly, the Japanese name of the stage, "Pokémon Subspace", does not directly refer to the Pokémon as floats, and the models do not appear to be balloons. The concept of "Poké Floats", added during localization, was later used in other Pokémon media: examples include the Wi-Fi Plaza in Pokémon Platinum and Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, and the climax of the Pokémon Detective Pikachu movie, which features a battle between Pikachu and Mewtwo on Pokémon balloons.
I love learning about where all the stuff in Smash originated from.
I love how in the same universe you can find places as wholesome as the Yoshi stages, or as grim and dark as Shadow Moses and Midgar :)
Honestly, they could've made stages for these characters from their debut:
Corrin- Hoshido & Nohr
Incineroar- Akala Islands or Aether Foundation
Min Min- Ramen Bowl (obviously)
Don’t forget Gangplank Galleon for King K. Rool
Technically Min Min's stage was from her debut. They just chose Spring Man's stage over hers.

Yeah. Ultimate added a little bit of new stages in the base game.
It should have been the Alola Battle Royal Dome, since that one is pretty much based on Lucha, which is part of Incineroar's gimmick
I miss the pac maze stage I wish it had replaced PAC Land
I wish we had both. Sonic and FF7 get 2 stages, so why not the oldest game character in Smash?
And I really miss orbital gate assault. But I wish it add stages for SSB ultimate or new super smash bros game

we still need a bowser’s castle stage. i have an idea where they can have “echo stages” where only the aesthetics change. like peach’s castle into bowser’s castle. also the great fox in corneria could have an echo stage where the bg is sector Z, like back in smash 64. feel free to comment your ideas for possible echo stages!
A simple but effective version for every battlefield/final destination have the versions from previous games

The Castle Siege origin was Crimea Castle, not Ostian Castle
It is a random castle, it has not real connection to any game in general.

Great video but again I wish they had descriptions of which game and levels they're from. Some nostalgic feels though, Smash really knew what they were doing. Sad we didn't get any Golden Sun maps.

Great research and history lessons on where they all originated from and even the different destinations each map had. Example Wario Ware and Fire Emblem Three Houses.

I wish Kraid was a Stage hazard boss in Brinstar Depths simmilar to how Ridley was back in Smash 4 in that one stage. Fighting against a giant stage hazard boss during a match would be awesome and fun.

It would’ve been cool if they added in the Kroc-copter from Donkey Kong Country 2 as K. Rool’s stage added in the base game of Ultimate, because it’s one of the only good DK games that’s not represented as a stage in any of the Smash Bros. games, DKC2 also has a top tier soundtrack and I think that Kaptain K. Rool is my favorite persona of K. Rool it feels the truest to his character in my opinion despite the fact he’s called King K. Rool.
It would’ve also been cool if we got Bowser’s Castle & also the battlefield where you fight Ganon in Ultimate as a stage that also transitions into Ganondorf’s castle from Ocarina of Time as new base stages for Ultimate.
Lastly it would’ve been awesome if Dr. Eggman & Shadow were added to the game as new characters, where Shadow would’ve released as a semi echo for Sonic in the base game, then Dr. Eggman would’ve released in either Fighters Pass 1 or Fighters Pass 2, and we could’ve gotten a stage to go along with them too.

The Yoshi Story stage in Melle is based on the beach levels not a regular level you showed .
I think we all noticed, but PokeFloats is the only stage that seems to have no origin.

What stages don’t have origins?
- All the different variations bot Pokemon Stadiums have come from the anime were the stadiums would morph often.
- Poke Floats is based on the Pokemon Floats Nintendo held once in a parade.
- Castle Siege form 2 is based on a castle from Path of Radiance, as seen by the fact that the Black Knight could be seen in the background. Form 3 is a reference to all the volcano stages in FE.
- Pirateship's hurricane is based on the teleport magic from Phantom Hourglass.
And for some reason Bob-omb battlefield and Bowsers Castle are still not stages in the game.
