The whole game is controversial. This was the cherry on top of the cake.
In general, religious were not by default spared. There were some considered too sacred or spirtually powerful to mess with ( as in not wanting to risk angering the deity). Then there were institutions that were too powerful to mess with in secular terms. And in addition it depended on the individual. One person might attack one, while someone else might not attack the same one. But broadly they were not totally spared. It was not unusual to make headquarters or camp on temple or shrine grounds, although Buddhist temples seem to have been more popular for this. When I was in Kyoto, I visited the modern versions of a number of temples that were burned down during the Onin War.
In addition, one of Mori Motonari's most famous battles (or maybe his most famous) took place on Miyajima against the Ouchi on 1555. The entire island was/is considered "holy ground" with a major shrine. After the battle, a lot of major purification rituals were performed.
Thank you for the video! I don’t think they did it on purpose either, but do find it strange there are no Japanese on production to tell them like “Hey, maybe this is a bad idea?”. Curious to see how the game is like when its out!
Part of the reason they have delayed the game for "polishing" maybe due to the poor sales and critical response to their latest open world game, "Star Wars Outlaws" which had poor sales. Gamers have joked about the similarity, ( climbing towers to show the map etc) of Ubisoft open world games for a while now.
Of course it didn't help that the sequel to the, "Ghost of Tsushima" game, (which was EXCELLENT if you can should try it) was announced with a gorgeous video and the same release window. It did everything right for an open world game last time and was lauded for it's graphics, (it even had a Kurosawa filter), its story and the innovations it bought to open world games like the guiding wind, fog of war and animal guides.
So yeah Ubiaoft coming of a string of poor selling open world games are going to be a little gun shy.
I think you are right
I am convinced that One-legged-Torii mishap was absolutely unintentional (the toy had a red wooden broken gate, not a grey stone one), but contrary to what Ubisoft claimed in the announcement of the game, it was just another sign that due diligence was missing in asking someone with better knowledge of the culture, like an actual Japanese person living in Japan.
It even seems they have outsourced their translations to China instead - (according to a video Shohei Kondo just made on YT). Which would also explain a lot of things.
A comparable faux-pas would be a castle in the next game, "Hexe" flying a banner with a double-lightning bolt emblem. (Hint: The setting is supposed to be medieval central Europe …)
It’s ok Anthony and allergies have been bad crazy this year lack of 🌧️ rain
Thank you very much for your work.👍
Geez Ubisoft did zero historical research for this game
And deliberately lied about it.
Thorough research on this game would have avoided the one legged Torii incident but with how Ubishit did their research for AC Shadows, sadly it happened. I watch the videos of Dashblue nitpicking AC Shadows vids for their inaccuracies but they do explain why its inaccurate with facts.
Well, them trying to force on us that Yashuke the black "samurai" was in fact a Samurai, is bullshit. He was nothing but a curiosity that Oda Nobunaga paraded around.
There's enough historical evidence to suggest he was a samurai/bushi under Nobunaga as there is to say that he wasn't. It's not definite. The best answer anyone has is "he could've been" and that's legit all we know. He was definitely paid a stipend and given a private residence in line with other retainers of that time period though, so there's that.
Nobunaga was rich and powerful why wouldn't he have a large and exotic man around him to show off his power? You know that a samurai wasn't really a specific rank right?
@@thembanitheone lol. Nice try. Was hip hop also a thing in feudal Japan? I mean there's as much evidence there was as there wasn't. Yes, it actually was apparently in the game during battle scenes and it is seemingly being removed. 🤣 Seriously which weirdos did the consultant work for this game and thought all this was good idea?
@@happyhamster2011 bro what are you on about? Who was talking about Hip hop here? Stay on topic please. There's also no evidence that hiphop was in feudal Japan because it's a fact that it wasn't so I don't know what your point is.
@@thembanitheone prove it 🤣
Another controversy about this game damn this is bad
YUP! ALL Started by none other then the man himself, A.C. The "Man who Destroyed the Ninja". Now the man who destroyed the legacy and history of Yasuke with all you minions who ride the Cummins train. I use to. I use to be a ardent supporter of the guy. But NOT any more. He's a latent racist and its easy to prove. So I personally will never by ANY more of his products.
I think normally it wouldn't be a big deal. But it's just more fuel to the fire of how much people hate what's being done in the game.
Thank you for the video. I'm not really too familiar about this so I'm not going to comment on this. Hope you feel better 👍🏻 try and get some rest
Great video, I would love to hear your opinion on Ghost of Yotē / ghost of tsushima ad the new trailer is out
