    Fun fact, what you showed is actually a specific kind of fly switching called a “Dutch drop”. The other is simply called “kicking”, where you push uncoupled cars.

      Yeesh...guess context is important here then. Although it appears to be a thing just with the Dutch, so outside of The Netherlands, the context isn't needed too badly, especially with railroaders.

    I can’t ever fly shunt because as soon as I cut off the gladhands even with the anglecoks closed the detached cut just stops like the brakes are on emergency application.

    oof 870 evo? That model had some "minor" issues - by which I mean there were bunches of drives that failed early & catastrophically. Especially the 4TiBs. A pity as the specs aren't terrible.
    (Rumor is contaminated/bad NAND that didn't hold charge over time, with later bandaid-fix firmware background data refresh, but no-one outside Samsung really knows.)

    i just want to say: you can brake faster by releasing the air out of the main air hose (just open the valve at the front and the whole train brakes), given the brakes are charged

      Dutch drop is different, it's the backwards version of the flying drop, hence "dutch".
      In a dutch drop the front of the train speeds ahead, and then reverses into a siding, hopefully before the tail end of the train catches up with the front :P

      So like Patrioche9273 said, under options -> advanced theres a thing to edit your keybinds. I have mine set to u/y throttle, i/k reverser, j/h independant brake, m/n train brake. Make sure your bindings aren't already bound (sander is by default on one of those keys i use). Also, your difficulty settings will impact how far away you can stand while operating the controls, but those can be edited from the main menu when managing saves.

      It's not quite as *tactile* as i prefer. Derail valley feels a lot more... like, solid, with the interactions of both physics and controls. That said there are benefits to both, it's just that Derail Valley is much more my kind of experience overall.

    setting brakes to 1 bar (red needle on the top left gauge) doesn't do much at all - seems to need to be 2-3 bar to have any effect

    • @OutbackCatgirl
      @OutbackCatgirl  20 днів тому

      yup! i usually only set to 1 bar in preparation to react to a higher brake demand ahead as the keyboard controls can be a bit finicky.
