Since cats can see in the dark I'd call the motion lights unnecessary and intrusive. But everything else is pretty damn epic.

You are not exaggerating. This is the best catio I have ever seen. It is beautiful and gives so much enrichment opportunity for your well-loved kitty.

Yes HOA and neighbors. Fortunately, you can’t see the structure from the street so I haven’t had a problem with HOA. And my awesome neighbors were involved in the process of building it. We agreed to put up a shade between the fence part in the catio so Tazz would stop smacking their dog around through the fence and for privacy because Tazz isn’t the only one that hangs out in it. They love that I built it for my cat.
Somebody loves her cat a LOTTTT! Great job on this. You do know cats have excellent night vision and a light suddenly coming on can be upsetting to their sensitive eyes. Also, LEDs are not healthy in general. I would leave the lights out of the picture unless you want them so you can see Tazz at night. Also, consider having perches that can move. Cats and curiosity go together. The same perch in the same place gets old. Make them easy to swap out and change them up every few days or whenever you have time. Another thing you can do to increase their sense of adventure is to only allow access to part of the space for part of the day then open up the next portion hours later. I find my cats are so eager to go from one space to a new space so they really like being rotated through different areas of the sanctuary. It's like being a kid and going to school and enjoying the excitement of getting there then being totally ready to heat out when the bell rings and being happy to go back home. Let the excitement build a little. This only applies if cat carers have a lot of area for their cats. If one only has a small catio, I would stick to swapping out shelves and not try to keep cats in just one area.
It is a beautiful catio. The motion night lights would have to be for the cat owner's enjoyment, as cats have brilliant night vision, me thinks.

Amazing! Small suggestion: put some natural branches and (safe) growing plants inside. Maybe even a small dead tree with branches the cat could climb, yes! If I was a cat I'd never come inside.
Yep! Did that after our front yard tree was trimmed I grabbed on of the branches that was cut off and put it in the castle. It was so heavy!!

I added some fake green ivy to the top of cat house and the cat walk this year. I also started growing pet grass in a large convincer in the cat house. Is wheat barley and oat grasss he loves it.
I think my cat would be jealous as hell. Lol

I just love seeing what you've done for your babies... I do the very same thing, but you given me even more ideas. My guys love to get the sun on them and to be able to watch things moving aroud and just to take in the smells. They live the best life possible without me having to worry about them getting killed by dogs. Several years ago I lost one to my sister's dogs, it was a horrible experience. Thus my reason for all this fuss with them. People think I'm a fanatic, but I don't care. Bless you and your babies, and thanks for sharing.
Sorry you lost your cat. I've been feeding a stray cat for months. A few months ago, I saw that he now has a broken leg. I have not been able to trap him to take him in to the vet to gett his leg fixed. (I'm still trying.) That really reconfirmed my decision to mot let my cat out.
The thought of her injured like that is horrible. I cried many nights over the stray cat & felt like if it was my cat that I've had & loved since kitten-hood, it'd even be worse
i suppose people think I am crazy & a fanatic, too. But, who cares!

There's some great ideas. I'm intrigued about the lighting though. Cats see amazingly well in the dark.
I’ve had lots of comments about the lights. Yes cats can see very well in the dark, but I use them so I know where he is out there since it’s such a big enclosure. They only stay on for a few seconds, but I think they help scare off predators too since the pop on when anything gets close enough. Tazz doesn’t seem to care if they are there. If he wants it dark he knows to just sit still long enough and they go off. He’s pretty smart.

I love it but I don't think the kitty needs all the sensor lights. Cats like going outside at night and being in the dark, remember cats are naturally nocturnal animals and like to hide and play in the shadows and darkness at night

Really cool but as far as the lights - cats can see extremely, extremely well in the dark. It's in their nature to do night-time stalking and they would enjoy the catio more if it were not artificially lit.

Nice build, but I hope that you’re not still using that indoor light fixture and white extension cord. Neither one is rated for outdoor use. That’s a great way to get you and your cat electrocuted if it shorts out due to moisture.

Cat's have excellent night vision and do not need lights. There are also way too many if the person wants one.
He loves the lights and so do I. It helps me know where he is at night and alerts me if other animals are close by. They also aren’t as bright as they seem in the videos. As for the humans that hang out in the cat house THEY ALL LOVE THEM. Watch the catio update video. The fairy lights are cool and so fun to sit in there and relax while Tazz enjoys company out with him.
