    We recently lost our 3 year old GWP suddenly to autoimmune encehalitis. Heart breaking but your video warms my heart and makes me willing to love a GWP again!

    That chicken-counting scene still haunting my dreams....Of all the breeds, charge a GSP with this job....it's just hilarious, crazy, exciting, hazardous and fascinating in the same time. The flock, apparently had the same opinion 😃.

      I am always inclined to give credit the dog first...😃; they are never wrong. You must be a great company to be with.

      Out of interest what’s your take on what the dog should do after flushing. There’s lots of videos on here of the dogs flushing and running right after the birds. I am not sure if that’s acceptable in trials or out hunting. What do you think.

    • @lloydbirch9023
      @lloydbirch9023  3 роки тому +1

      @@alwynroberts8465 in the UK it’s generally expected that the dog should be steady to flush and wait to be sent. That is what’s required if you are going to compete in field trials. Hunter is very hit and miss on that.
      In America the standard seems to be that the dog does not flush, that’s the handlers job, and the dogs is expected to get after the bird straight away.

    Beautiful dog! I'd love to own one. I don't know much about bird hunting but, I am very active. I bike, hike, swim, love the outdoors. Do I have to feed his bird hunting instincts?

      Antonio Cordova I have a wirehaired pointer and I duck hunt he is a great hunting dog but you sound like a very active person if you do all those activities a wirehaired pointer is a great dog for you and shure they may be bred to hunt but just because you don't hunt dosen't make a wirehaire any different but yea you should get one there great dogs and there great with active people 😀

      They feed their bird hunting instinct themselves which is why the section with the chickens is so well done (and the sheep!)
      An excellently trained dog

    I have chickens and I'm about to pick up my Pudelpointer. How did you introduce him to them?

    • @lloydbirch9023
      @lloydbirch9023  7 років тому +1

      He'd seen them through the fence since he was 8 weeks old so they were not new to him. Keep them separate them at first and when his Sit command is 100% bring them closer.
