You sound like Korg from Thor and the Avengers 😂😂
I'm not able to generate battery report by this command - powercfg /batteryreport /output "C:\battery_report.html".. even though Poweshell and CMD both says that "Battery life report saved to file path C:\battery_report.html." but there isn't any html file saved in the aforementioned location in C: ? can you pls help
Did this and I'm at my first cycle. batt report remains at 87wh full charge capacity. No change.
My laptop was 89 percent
Now it is 82 percent 😐😐😐
This happened to me and I did this and it worked, also try using system configuration to kill background tasks that you don't need and leave them off
Ok mmm
how can we use? could you explain in more detail?
@@TallyHoTech what do you mean mmm
Boot into the BIOS and let it drain from there, it will stay on untill there is litterally no power left. I have a Dell and there is a batettey meter inside of the BIOS.
It went down to 1%, so the machine thought it was drained, but the laptop stayed on for an extra 20 mintes. Had to run this cycle twice.
With 2 batterydrains, now at 96.524 mWh out of the 97.003 mWh from my XPS 7590 OLED model. Sufficient for my taste. I will now put it in battery longlife saving mode again from the BIOS only allowing it to go inbetween 30% and 85%. But anyway, if I need it I can bring it up to 96.5 :-)
So you just let the laptop drain from 100% to 0% by not doing any work and then charge it till full twice. Is that how calibrating work? I'm kinda confused.
I've heard there seems to be some problems with thermal throttling but there's a solution with undervolting by about .100. Could be a video idea?
Yer I’m gonna do an undervolting tutorial
I have 87Wh on my xps 9750 insted of 97Wh. I will tell you if this fix my problem.
Noice
I have to report, I have the same 87wh instead of 97wh. I'm going to try this callibration.
@@Hyp3rSp8c3 I had done yesterday and I get 91Wh but then I have done a 2º time and I get 90Wh. Probably I spend 2 cycles before trying the 3º time. I think that the key is discharged slowly and charge with the dell power management for CA enable.
@@Dolby202 , I just started this morning and will have to slowly drain the batt to 0. I will let you know in a day or two the outcome. What is CA enable, do you mean enabling PeakShift in power management?
@@Hyp3rSp8c3 Dell power manager is an aplication. If you open it, batery ingormation--> configuration--->primarily for use with CA.
This causes it to charge slowly as it approaches full charge
I deleted the battery drivers but the full and design capacity are also not equal
Li-Ion cells don't like overcharge as well as full discharge. I am quite sure dell managed well at hardware level to avoid this conditions even when you see 0 and 100%. However, if you have those x Whr less is just better for your battery life in this way when you reach low measured state of charge your battery still has room before being completely depleted. Same thing cannot be said for the 100 % charge level, because it depends on the implemented charge strategy. Thus, I would go for not bothering about this calibration and setting up the charge strategy to be between 20 and 80 % from bios ( as you explained in this or another video, don't remember ). This is the most clever way to increase the battery life of your dell (as well as other laptop). Using all the available capacity is not worth it if you then need to change the battery after one year or two.
Thanks for the info
@@TallyHoTech no problem! It's better to share these information. Then people can decide what to do depending on their specific needs.
I feel very tired nowadays, does this method work on humans too?
Ace tips as always 👍
Seeing as your an Aussie now you should understand. One in the Clacka No Lube is the cure for everything. Soar back, tiredness, head ache. Whack, straight up the clack no lube and all your problems go away
@@TallyHoTech How do you know he is an aussie ?
Ash is as Aussie as they come. He is a big fan of reverse israel folau philosophy
@@TallyHoTech weird
Thanks for the Video. I'll check that after some more challenging cycles ;-) EDIT: On my i7 4k OLED I have 87.438Wh. (without the calibration)
Great let me know how that goes
@@TallyHoTech After the first try I've got 93.275Wh now :)
@@blue_monkey89 I had the same 87Wh. First try I ended up with the same 87Wh, Second Try: 84Wh :-X ....
@@effhunt1514 did you do the calibration as described in the Video?
@@blue_monkey89 yes - exactly that way. however I read some more about it reading that it does make a difference how I'm discharging. before I did that using prime95 and furmark, my third and last attempt will be to go with standard load like watching a youtube video.
Thank you for clearing this up. I recently purchased a new laptop battery. (My old one is about 5 years old). The Manufacturer is recomending that I calibrate the battery i addition to doing 3 or 4 complete charges/discharges. I'm like calibrate the battery, wut!? Thank you for clearing this up in the beginning of your video.
Can you make a video comparing the 2018 and 2019 model? Bc I am able to get last year's model cheaper but is it worth it? Or should I pay extra for the 2019 (Not buying i9)
See what I can do
i tried it and my full charge capacity dropped by a couple hundred what went wrong? my xps 15 went from 87wh to 86wh
Nice try Boi.. 😂😂😂
i did the callibration, let it ran to 0% in bios, then waited 7 hours, and charged it fully ... and my wear went from 18% down to 28 .. wtf what am i doing wrong ? ( is it maybe cause of the current hot weather and it being hotter than normal in my room ? )
Hi Tally Ho Tech,
when you say "dont do this on an old battery", do you mean a used battery or an older type of battery? maybe it's a dumb question. I have personally treated my laptop battery like shit through it's lifespan (leaving it plugged in to AC while performing high energy consuming tasks and letting it get quite hot) and have only wised up recently with how I should be treating it.
So yea, after almost 2 years or so of use it has gone from an actual capacity of 38,588 mWh (designed 40,001 mWh) to 22,722 mWh...yea i know...
I imagine you are just going to tell me NOT to touch it/get a new battery or? should I try this?
Thanks

Hey i am using an outdated version of laptop. i am using SAMSUNG SENS P480 year 2012. i am interested on these tips but before i do that i wanna ask if this is applicable to my laptop? because i don't wanna harm my laptop and get worst. i just want my battery to go back to its normal health. what do you think?
You talk a lot but the instructions are less, and the method does not work.
Got mine a few days ago. I noticed when i wake up the laptop after it goes to sleep, nothing i was workingg on is opened. And when i click restart, after restarting, programs like chrome are picked up when where i left off. MAKES NO SENSE HELPPP
I'm attempting this process on a Dell Vostro 7590 right now. Hoping for the best!
Pre-Calibration Numbers:
Full Charge Capacity: 89,878 mWh
Design Capacity: 96,991 mWh
Update?
@@سيدنبيل-د9ف Got a blue screen during the process and decided not to go through with it. Lmao
Is there thermal similarities between 9570 and 7590 ? I am deciding to buy i7 4K
The 7590 has active cooling on the VRM
Tally Ho Tech Rumors says no active cooling on the VRM in i7 7590. Is that true since you have both i7 and i9?
@@TallyHoTech some reports on reddit are saying only on the i9 models
I guess this is already fixed in the latest BIOS. To me it's showing both values as 97,003 mWh in the battery report.
Great video! I never gave this a second thought until now.
Yer man you will be surprised. I had a Lenovo that I got hour of battery like back because the battery was over 20Wh less than it should be
I own a Dell XPS 9700 with 200 cycles.. It has 80Wh full charge capacity, it randomly dies when battery runs below 40%
I'm really bothered by that.. such an expensive machine. I'm doing battery regen right now. It's just unbelievable
Faulty cell most likely. If under warranty, you'll need to change it, or buy from Dell for discounted price and change it yourself. In Sweden they quoted me $60 which is very cheap for such a big battery
@ 4:45 you contradict yourself in the same sentence ! so... what is it ? don't do it on new or old battery ?
What Im saying is its up to you. Its not good for the battery to run flat but if you want the extra Wh you have to do it. If its within 10% don't worry about it
I bought new battery for my old HP laptop and had to return the first one. I am now playing with two other one and don't know yet if I'll keep one of them or send back both and this time buy 10 batteries and try to find a decent one in the lot.
The batteries are 77mW but the first one only charged up to 47mW and the second one up to 57mW. For the third one, I am around 60mW after a third discharge/recharge. If I don't get better results after a fourth try, I'll send that one back too and will try, as I said, to buy 10 and cherry pick.
Those batteries should be old (more than a decades ago) for the laptops they are intended for are also old too.
The battery specs are : 14.8V, 5200mAh, 77mW.
They are cunning : they don't write the fabrication date on these batteries...
What is the battery life like now on normal usage right watching UA-cam?
I am using a Razer Blade 15 and I am actually getting 3000mhw more than you need LOL:}
Noice
Hi. I’m going mad trying to work how to charge my XPS OLED. Long story short I need to be able to charge via the USB C / Thunderbolt port. Can this be done from a powerbank. Dell support seems useless
You need a powerbank with usb-c pd support.
Also with a charger, you should get at least a 65w charger.
Hakim El Ghazouani wonderful, much appreciated
what happend if you deleted the drivers?
How can you delete the file if you don’t want to keep it?
Full is 41578 and design is 53573
So i have a gaming laptop now my question is if i should play with the cable connected to the laptop or without the cable connected to the laptop?
Bcs i dont teally want to dmg the battery
@@xanxusvaria8492 play with cable. Laptops have something called paypas charge wich means if the battery is full the device wil run directly from wal power.
review x1 carbon 7th gen pls
8:01 good
Uninstalled the two battery things in Device Manager, ran a game until the laptop died, charged for >4 hours, ran report and it didn't change from 87.4 Wh :(
Assuming my steps were right, I'll try it a second time. But thanks for the video mate!
What happened in the end ?
whats up here?

Hi Tally Ho,
I have an XPS 15 (i9 UHD Touch) - out of the box calibration: 87Wh
1st manual calibration: 87Wh again
2nd: 84Wh
3rd: 90Wh
Should I do it again, or is my battery just not that good?
I discharged using standard apps like Office and Browser.
Try 3 Times max

Is it only me that loves how he’s using a mac when buying windows 10 pro in the beginning?...
Hehe Mac love boot camp too
My capacity is 0Wh. Why? Because two of the three cells are damaged and started to inflate themselves, so I removed the battery for safety reasons. That should not happen after 20 months if you ask me. Still waiting for a new battery to make my laptop PORTABLE again :D
Booooof 😯
@@TallyHoTech By the way, checking the battery report might also be a great way to make sure that you got a genuine battery replacement right? There's a lot of third party batteries that claim to be original but in reality it's not the advertised capacity.
Ir right it shouldn't happen my laptop is over almost 4 years old and have no battery isues so far
