Boot into the BIOS and let it drain from there, it will stay on untill there is litterally no power left. I have a Dell and there is a batettey meter inside of the BIOS.
It went down to 1%, so the machine thought it was drained, but the laptop stayed on for an extra 20 mintes. Had to run this cycle twice.

With 2 batterydrains, now at 96.524 mWh out of the 97.003 mWh from my XPS 7590 OLED model. Sufficient for my taste. I will now put it in battery longlife saving mode again from the BIOS only allowing it to go inbetween 30% and 85%. But anyway, if I need it I can bring it up to 96.5 :-)

So you just let the laptop drain from 100% to 0% by not doing any work and then charge it till full twice. Is that how calibrating work? I'm kinda confused.

Li-Ion cells don't like overcharge as well as full discharge. I am quite sure dell managed well at hardware level to avoid this conditions even when you see 0 and 100%. However, if you have those x Whr less is just better for your battery life in this way when you reach low measured state of charge your battery still has room before being completely depleted. Same thing cannot be said for the 100 % charge level, because it depends on the implemented charge strategy. Thus, I would go for not bothering about this calibration and setting up the charge strategy to be between 20 and 80 % from bios ( as you explained in this or another video, don't remember ). This is the most clever way to increase the battery life of your dell (as well as other laptop). Using all the available capacity is not worth it if you then need to change the battery after one year or two.

    Hi Tally Ho Tech,
when you say "dont do this on an old battery", do you mean a used battery or an older type of battery? maybe it's a dumb question. I have personally treated my laptop battery like shit through it's lifespan (leaving it plugged in to AC while performing high energy consuming tasks and letting it get quite hot) and have only wised up recently with how I should be treating it.
So yea, after almost 2 years or so of use it has gone from an actual capacity of 38,588 mWh (designed 40,001 mWh) to 22,722 mWh...yea i know...
I imagine you are just going to tell me NOT to touch it/get a new battery or? should I try this?
    Thanks

I bought new battery for my old HP laptop and had to return the first one. I am now playing with two other one and don't know yet if I'll keep one of them or send back both and this time buy 10 batteries and try to find a decent one in the lot.
The batteries are 77mW but the first one only charged up to 47mW and the second one up to 57mW. For the third one, I am around 60mW after a third discharge/recharge. If I don't get better results after a fourth try, I'll send that one back too and will try, as I said, to buy 10 and cherry pick.
Those batteries should be old (more than a decades ago) for the laptops they are intended for are also old too.
      The battery specs are : 14.8V, 5200mAh, 77mW.
They are cunning : they don't write the fabrication date on these batteries...
