@@spearmintz1 it may be a trash weapon overall, but it feels nice to desintegrate your enemies within their pristine ships along with their houseplants.
Recently I have been pretty bored waiting for my favourite channels to post. Then I got back into FTL and found this gem of a channel! I love the long videos of your runs, I appreciate how you narrate your decision making and respect how much you know about the game. Right now I'm watching you play each ship, then trying it out myself, so much fun. Cheers!
Instead of ship suggestions, maybe some runs where you go for the achievement objectives that are needed to unlock the B sides, like Zoltan ship without upgrading the reactor etc. Basically handicap runs. It can be like you can't use beam weapons and flak or something, see how far you can get.
For the zoltan reactor thing: I was looking at the other comments and I saw one about the backup battery and I think that would be a very viable strat for that. Also: yes I know you comment was made before I even got out of school🤣
I feel like you really undervalue the backup battery, even though its temporary that power can be used to boost a hack or power your medbay when you can't afford to divert the power. It's really great if you get to the flagship with a bunch of empty power slots like you were here & for only 35 scrap its a pretty huge boost late game
backup battery is a must buy for me. I'd rather have a back up then reactor power. Seeing how u can just dump it onto cloak, mind control or hacking because the power gets eaten and stored in it after the use mean no real power is being lost. Besides 90% of fights are over before the backup battery even goes on cool down. i have been able to get to sector 8 with barely any reactor upgrades thanks to good ol battery
@@Aiika__ Not to mention, it's a huge advantage to have if you get caught in an ion storm. Your normal reactor power is halved, but the backup battery doesn't. Putting you well ahead of your enemy in the power economy, at least at the start of the fight.
Glad you took my suggestion, looks like RNGesus blessed you the same way he blessed me last time I played Slug A, free lasers and money galore. Your run also makes me seriously consider lanius for boarding, those encounters were kinda brutal.
@@antonioscendrategattico2302This 2 year old comment you made just put me into a massive phylosophical black hole. Like, imagine you just woke up in a spaceship and were told that you just died, but you’re a clone. I personally would have to sit there for a good month or two just contemplating the meaning of… well… everything😅
Great job, but might I suggest the backup battery in the future? Yes, the power isn’t constant, but that doesn’t matter so much when you have systems that use power for their duration, then turn off for a while, like mind control and cloaking
I think its also good to close gaps when upgrading. Like maby you could upgrade your weapons and upgrade the reactor power LATER. Im not experianced but i also noticed that he neever buys the battery :D
Wow you showed up on my recommended page and I watched the whole video right through. I love your commentary and was fully expecting this to be a 10k+ subscriber channel!
You got the pre-igniter at least once on the channel. Because i remember that you got it with that big ship and i was slightly disappointed when the ships built in artimus beam or whatever its called wasent affected by it :) but that would be OP i guess :P
Hmm. I ended up carying the ABB as dead weight after like Sector 5 in my last run. When you have suboptimal tools to get 3 shield bubbles down consistently, while the enemy has insane weapons which you should also handle, you have a really bad time.
IDK if it's just me and my bad luck or if the slime the slugs secrete is flammable, but when i run slugs A i not only get out of fire more often, but the fire spreads like were in a forest instead of a metal can in the vacuum of space. It's a little frustrating when i only have two slugs and a destroyed Mensah to fix it lol
A really great type up I saw years ago was by a gentleman named Sulla, it is a ship tier list in a similar vein to your video. He only played on Hard and I noticed some key differences in your ship placements and I wonder, do you think on hard difficulty your list might change? His list is still up btw if you wanted to take a look.
I imagine hard mode causes some ships to be more or less viable, I prefer to play the game on normal so my list is more for general rankings for someone watching who isn't as experienced with the game. I'll have to give that video a watch!
What is the mod that labels the spots the rebels will be at after each jump? i know captains edition has something similar but i often like to play without CE
Does difficulty affect RNG? I swear to god when I get hard I never get any luck with weapons or augments in events (surrenders, randoms, what have you). Hell, the only "luck" I get on hard when involving weapons is when the ships constantly hit mine.
Difficulty doesn't affect RNG in terms of what you can find in shops or the likelihood of a bad outcome in beacon events. It does affect the bottom options in term of enemy ship profile and equipment. It doesn't feel that way, though. Back in the day, extremely bad or good RNG skewed my perception of several ships and guns' viability. In the end, it all comes down to how many dice you roll. This is specially blatant when doing achievement runs to unlock ship layouts xD I strongly recommend you give the Captain's Edition mod pack with the Infinite addon a try. Stretching out runs tends to flatten big peaks or troughs in luck, and it's overall a very good mod that makes the game even more replayable. Cheers Edit: some seriously alien grammar going on here xD
Throughout your games, I almost never see you buy the medbay level two upgrade. If I may be so bold, why don't you get them as soon as possible, like I've seen another UA-camr do? Something I learned when you are going through an abandoned sector in FTL: Always upgrade O2!
medbay level 2 is debatably the most useless upgrade to get. in 99% of circumstances you don't need to heal faster, enemy crew cannot kill your crew if you have a level 1 medbay on. If there's any situation where you will lose crew due to not having a level 2 medbay, you have failed to micromanage properly.
First it was the tierlists, then the playthrough with burning everything... Ya know what, re-installing FTL. Horrible challenge idea: Can you beat FTL without dodging? Sure you got shields, zoltan shields, and defense drones, but no dodging?
It's not possible to beat the game without dodging, but it's for a very particular reason - you need to have engines and piloting enabled just to be able to jump. Best you can do is never upgrade your cockpit and keep your engines at minimum power, and then turn off engines once you're in combat.
uhh dude why are you scared of fires with level 2 doors since fires slowly take out the o2 in the room they basicly put themselves out so if its in an empty room and you have level 2 doors just leave it there it will be gone 2 jumps later
I don't know why but I've always liked the slug a, it's very unique and has an interesting way of playing, especially at the start.
Agreed! I’m glad I got to use the bio beam as long as I did

Love the slug A, I feel like it's one of the few ships that has a gimmick that can still be viable in the later sectors

Lanius boarders can be extremely effective, but you need more than one. Unless you have a clone bay and very few moral scruples.
