Being inlove isn't all about the looks, it's all about how sincere and how each other shows their love for another no matter how they look physcially. Ive only been a fan of the couple for a short amount of time and from what i can see lee seung gi is someone who is really sincere since the very start. He didn't care no matter how many other people judge him for liking one of the most beautiful and popular female in korea, he just said and publicized his feelings as it is. He is a true gentleman who is willing to pursue the girl he really likes no matter how hard it is, without sacrficing and depriving the girl of her own feelings.
