Understanding the Palestinian Islamic Jihad

There was an explosion at a hospital in Gaza.
Reportedly hundreds of lives were lost, and both sides are claiming it is the other’s fault.
Hamas claims it was an Israeli airstrike, and the Israeli Military claimed it was a rocket launched by Hamas.. or the Palestinian Islamic Jihad militant group.
At this stage, it’s not clear who launched the rocket.
But while Hamas has received a lot of attention in the past week, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad have not.
So, who are they? And what ties do they have to Hamas?
