    Dang, all of them were pretty close, but overall the best here was the Kemper. The only difference I could notice is that the gain sounds a little bit more drier than the real amp, but just by a really tiny pinch. The Quad Cortex had some resonance/bass frequencies missing. And the Tonex, although pretty damn good for it's price, was too snarly and feels a lil bit more synthetic than the other two actually. But tbh, if I wasn't aware that I'm watching a comparative video, I really couldn't tell the difference.

      I've noticed that too, but the UAFX pedals nail the feel thing better than any other digital solution out there. I recently did a comparison of my ac30 and princeton to helix native, kemper, and the ua pedals. Kemper sounded the closest to my amps, but the UA pedals nailed the feel and response. The waveforms the UA pedals recorded were almost identical to the waveforms of my real amps. Crazy

    They are all good, but if we are splitting hairs I think I like the tonex or the quad cortex, then the kemper. Really at this point the modeling is good enough that you can just get the one that fits your needs best. Just the models? Tonex. All in one with effects? Quad Cortex, etc. You get the idea.

    tonex is the overall most accurate sounding profile. both the kemper and the quad cortex add a little bump around the 100hz range (which is not unpleasant). At this point it really doesn't matter anymore....all of the profiles nowadays sound soooo close to the real amps, nobody would ever be able to tell if an amp is real or not anymore. even real amps vary in sound...

  • @adrianb2066

    I have both a Kemper toaster and Tonex. I struggle to hear any major difference between the Kemper and the Tonex. While older, the Kemper is a much better all-in-one offering with great effects and fantastic reverb and delays. Bang for buck, the Tonex is a fantastic option if you don’t require effects.
    It’s a shame Kemper still don’t have a software plugin in available. It is a great Tonex feature to use profiles across software and hardware.

    • @sundrenched6248
      @sundrenched6248 6 місяців тому

      Same boat here. I bought the Tonex pedal out of curiosity and nominally better accuracy. Also to have some fun creating a separate pedal board with knobs to turn. When I just want to pick up a guitar and play at night, I go to my Kemper 9 times out of 10. The nice thing about purchased Kemper profiles is you get an entire rig if you want, not just the amp. I have maybe 10 go-to profiles / rigs that I've landed on, and when I just want to noodle I pick one and go.

CQ changes the attack like a single coil would sound and pollutes the broad mids. Also weird lowend compression. Tonex not very transparent, very dull and dark. May it be interesting to catpture the preamp section of your amp , then send this capture into the power section of the amp and compare it to the real thing.
    I alwayz wondered if the modelers can reproduce a 3d sound cuz a capture is basicly a one placement mics.
    If you can for exemple use a tonex pedal in a power amp and cab and get the same satisfaction than the real thing then its huge. If not , just stick to the software version , no need of hardware.
